Never thought in that way.. I've always read it as a simple poem about the poet's love towards nature. No wonder Wordsworth is known as "the high priest of nature". In all his poems..he's appreciating the nature.Umm so..Thank you for explaining the symbolism and for highlighting each and every detail that I just nearly ignored.
You're quite welcome! Thanks for your thoughtful comment. Wordsworth is a master of writing poetry that is very simple and even trivial on the surface. I think it is up to us to uncover (or create, perhaps) the layers beneath.
This is fantastic! Got asked to teach this poem to a High School ESL class and was looking for inspiration, and this has given me Loads. Very thorough and well thought-out analysis. Thanks for this!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching the video and incorporating it into your lesson 😀 I often teach my more advanced high school ESL classes poetry as well!
Thanks for watching! It is difficult to be sure what brought on this loneliness, but seeing as no other person is mentioned in the poem, he might not have any companionship.
