Fulgrim didn't just fail at turning Rylanor. Rylanor turned the thousand sons back to his side. You can't recover from that. Rylanor's sheer honor had the thousand sons looking back, and seeing they were wrong, by extension, the possibility of Fulgrim being wrong.

Rylanor was such an excellent character. I'm glad he got to go out with honor.

+He deserves better than all of us.+ That's the line that always gets me; it's easy enough to look at fulgrim and call him unworthy, far more impressive is Vistario admitting that neither is he.

What a way to go, both for the self-redeemed Thousand Sons, Rylanor, and this year. Best part, this legitimately hurt Fulgrim, weakening him permanently. Prideful li'l shit.

fun fact: dreadnoughts are used when an Astartes (or sometimes a Custodes) suffers an irreparable wound, in Rylanor's case, despite his augmentations, his legs broke like toothpicks one day fue to the weight of his auroramite balls

"Rylanor's Last Stand" is, in my opinion, one of the greatest Sci-Fi short stories ever written.

This is the first time I actually felt creeped out by Fulgrim. Like you all the "Fulgrim is a perv" memes but this is the first time I actually realized how horrific a horny primarch would be.

The blow was more than just to Fulgrim's pride. He was able to travel in and out of the immaterium at will before this. And now with his flesh turned to goo. Now he has to be summoned like any greater daemon.

That day, Fulgrim took a blow to his pride. A wound more potent than any blade could inflict, more potent than the life eater rending his temporal flesh only rivaled by the consuming fire of the Anethema. A wound, oddly enough, that he inflicted upon himself and a blight from which he will never recover.

When you rolled your Charisma check so badly, you not only galvanized your son's hatred against you, but convinced your supposed allies to betray you aswell.

Rylanor: "Killing you was the point. Waiting 10 thousand years was merely a luxury"

Imagine being such an exemplar of honor that even your enemy that rips the brains out of people and rips babies in half just appease their gods look at you for a moment and go " yeah we're on the wrong side. Let's end it all. "

This is why the Thousands sons are so tragic to me. They never wanted to be traitors, they wanted to stay loyal, but with Magnus’s pride, Horus’s schemes and Russ’s foolishness they were driven from the emperors light

old dreadnought are just incredible, the power of their conviction, their wisdom, their tactic sense, everything make them incredible, Rylanor, Bjorn the fell-handed, the Anchorite, Cassian Dracos

"All that is left between us is that we will die together!" That line fucking slaps man.

Remember, this right here permanently wounded Fulgrim's pride, and by extension permanently weakened him. I like to think that when Fulgrim thinks back on this moment he sees that he was the last important person there and the most helpless to stop what was coming. There was nothing he could have done to change it, despite all his power, despite his ego, despite his pride, he was helpless. It probably hurts to remember how his son bested him in the end, a man who was little more than meat in a rusted can defeated him.

And then there were imperial reports of the legion of the damned, mentioning sightings of ancient Rylanor and vistario, murshid and Akhtar fighting against daemons.

While this is Rylanors show, and he deserves all merit for his single minded dedication. I always feel for the Thousand sons. So little of them there ever were, and even less now. But here we have the glimpse of one soul, who looked upon a true child of the emperor. And chose repentance.

Is it possible that these marines were forgiven and now are basking besides the Emperors infinite glory?

Hearing Rylanor reject Fulgrim so vehemently and asserting his honor and loyalty to the Emperor's Children fills me with such emotion that I'm borderline embarrassed. Absolutely wonderful

Rylanor died an unsung hero. But he died a hero nonetheless.

He saw the crimson king reading some archaic tome. "... you wish to know of what happened." Vistario went to the point. Magnus nodded. "Go on. Tell me." "We had found ancient rylanor. Fulgrim was lured by him. We initialy stopped him but...we helped rylanor in the end." Magnus' good eye widened at rylanors name,before looking shameful. "I see. Do you regret it?" "...i do not my lord." "Good. Despite our situation,i would at least like to see some of us having a semblance of virtue. I suppose i should release you then?" Vistario nodded solem. Magnus sighed. "Go in the emporors light vistario. Rest." With those words,vistario was dead. At peace. His soul would join the astronomicon. Magnus would send the book back, before looking out at tizca. "...i am sorry amon. That horrible event you forsaw has come to pass by my hand as i realize it..." Spoke the crimson king,in what could constitute clarity. Meanwhile upon isstvan... something landed. A figure. The being wore torn clothes that were almost ragged. His every step purified the dead soil. He walked for hours until finaly coming upon the ruins. All that the clone saw...was what remained of armor burnt almost black,save for that palatine aquila that is barely visible. "... you were right. You deserved better. You deserved better then me...then us all..." The figure fell to his knees and wailed. The fires of purity burned all across his body and tears fell. Isstvann would again burn but now in purification. For the sorrow of a primarch could drown worlds in there gloom...

Another great excerpt from Warhammer 40k is the exchange between Captain Ullis Temeter and the Dreadnaught Huron Fal on Isstvan. To hear you read their final moments would be amazing.

People talk up Rylanor, and he certainly deserves the hype, but my God, those Thousand Sons deciding to step in and deny Fulgrim what he wanted? Fucking *magnificent.* The fact that he has a permanent wound to his pride from this is the icing on the cake. Man got denied so hard, both by one of his sons, and by some wizards, that it had an actual impact on him.

An absolute Imperial classic, hot as the firestorm that burned Istvaan III. You did him all the justice he deserved. Hail Rylanor!

This has to be one of the most emotionally and motivationally powerful moments in all of Warhammer. Just the NAME Rylanor is a battle cry for your entire life to keep going, no matter what is happening. May his soul rest in the Emperors protection and grace.

Ok its all fun and games teasing us with these short amazing videos but we need entire books done like this, i'm tired of being disappointed everytimes the video ends. I want more !!!

The tragic thing is that Fulgrim _also_ wanted to kill himself for betraying the emperor. Of course, Rylanor is not talking with the real Fulgrim.

When they find out the only reason anyone recieved Rylanor's distress call after ten thousand years...because Tzeentch wanted to mess with Slaanesh by permanently debuffing Fulgrim. "Just as planned."

I never thought that Final Fantasy 7 and Mario 64 music would go so well over this theme. My god, well done.

I do have a HEAVY THING for watching traitor space marines doing the right thing, and here I have a dreadnought who stayed loyal for millennia and convinced 3 sorcerers from the thousand sons to betray a fucking deamon pimarch... man that commands RESPECT.

With One Winged Angel playing in background, Horus, Fulgrim, Angron with rest of their 5 traitorous brothers were just wannabe Sephiroths, with Horus, it was very Chaos itself, Fulgrim sided with Slaanesh and Angron swearing loyalty to Khorne. Sangunius, Guilliman and Rylanor were just trying their best to be Cloud and Vincent. All could be solved if God Emperor had a proper discussion and bonding with all of his 20, sorry, 18 sons, instead if sending them away on a long crusade just after finding them.

Your choice of soundtrack is to be commended, sir! An orchestral rendition of the One Winged Angel, to match anchient Rylanor's final defiance? IMPRESSIVE is the one word if value I can conjure, and yet it is not enough.

I like to think (and this is purely my personal canon on it, not actually supported by anything), that in that last moment, that Vistario saw that they had been wrong, and realized he had backed the wrong horse. I like to think that he thought once more of the Emperor, and realized that he never should have turned before he put the bullet in his fellow Marine's skull.

I do hope Rylanor is now at the Emporers Side. He deserves it.
