@@lukecrawford1215 No, that would be more like depression. Its possible that a person could no longer care about anything in the world at the point and just decide to do whatever they want, but they wouldn't go crazy. How you drive people into madness, you have to make them feel like they are never safe or never alone. Every moment, their looking over their shoulder as if someone is watching them. Walk by random people on the street thinking, 'one of these people could be looking to kill me, mug me, spying on me or are following me.' People that come back from war often come back broken and driven into madness because for a few months, a year, or years, they have always been paranoid of when the next bomb will hit, where the next enemy ambush is, will they ever make it back alive, and so on. Madness is more subjective to your awareness of self and surroundings than it is to loss.

Heath Ledger's death was a result of acute intoxication caused by a combination of prescription medications. The autopsy revealed that he had taken a mixture of painkillers, anti-anxiety medications, and sleeping pills. Some of the specific drugs found in his system included oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine. It's important to note that Ledger had been struggling with insomnia and anxiety, and the medications he took were prescribed to him by different doctors. The combination of these drugs, along with potential issues related to their dosage and interactions, ultimately led to his accidental overdose.

@@susanemmanuel2205 Practicality is a blessing. If you rationalise what we consider good and evil, you see that good has benefits regardless of ideology. And evil is simply unsustainable. And imo, the distortion of an otherwise functioning mind can actually come from the desire to be good. It's hardbaked into how we function. So when someone does something wrong they are forced to deal with the contradiction by twisting the definition of 'good'. A liar thinks that everyone's as deceitful as he is. The Joker thinks he's on a crusade to reveal the 'truth' of the world. Two-Face thinks he's being truly just and unbiased by basing his actions on random chance. At least that's my take on it.

I love the analogy of the moment when Joker and Batman were talking after Batman saves Joker; Joker is hanging upside down indicating his world is upside down = mess, chaos, destruction where at the same time in Batman’s world it’s downside up = perfection, law, order….the scene was truly amazing.

This shows how crazy this joker really is. He’s laughing when batman threw him down because he knew that he won since he made batman break his only code (kill people), but when batman saved him he stopped laughing. He’s not afraid to die, his only mission in life is to make batman break his only code no matter the cost.

Batman does not kill people. But Bruce Waine does, every day, as one of the richest capitalists, making his workers lose their health, do crimes, etc. Bruce is the main source of criminality in Gotham, he is the creator of Joker. That is what the film about. Not Joker's wishes and fantasies.

The dynamic between these two once in a generation actors is sooo perfect!! I know some people might have trouble taking Bale 100% seriously cause of the voice thing, but I honestly think he's one of few actors on the planet who could fully match the intensity and immersion Ledger brought to the table and not get intimidated or thrown off by it. I could've watched at least 3 more movies with these guys going at it, but I know that would make this one slightly less magical than it is. We and Nolan were truly lucky to get this combination of lead actors for this, forever grateful

Everyone keeps pointing out that he laughs when thrown off as "showing his true face" but no one ever talks about how he breaks his facade and is actually upset when no one triggers the bomb after all that theatrics. Upset that he's been proven wrong, that his one bad day is a lie and not everyone is a terrible person like him.
