He fit the original Batman that wasn’t afraid to put those down who needed to be put down. It’s a different interpretation and I love it, we can’t always have the same “I don’t kill” Batman or it’ll get stale. Many say “well you don’t understand the character!” He changed and everything always does so enjoy what you can and have fun

Considering Batman almost kills Joe Chill in every adaptation where they meet, combining Chill with Joker means Batman doesn't feel any guilt about smiting Joker in this continuity.

Even how he decides that he will start climbing the ladder before its reached his feet, so he will be doing chin ups on several of the rungs, then the jokers strength on how he is able to hold on that ladder for so long with stone that is heavier than the balls they use in the Strongman Contests. Actually, it is very accurate to Batman canon. This is INCREDIBLY close to many of his characterizations in the comics, and I would never call Batman "peace-loving" necessarily. He protects the innocent & helpless, but quite literally "wars" on all criminals.

As an 8 year old watching this movie in theaters rooting for the joker, I didn’t care for the ending. Was very sad 😂

Well- shooting his old boss dead (Carl Grissom) and a few minutes later planning that the city "got a load of him" seems to me a hard start after all, so I don't think that he grows more and more insane. I think that he always remains the same.

He's had enough of Joker's bullshit: realizing Joker killed his parents, tried to poison Gotham, stole his girlfriend, hired goons to kill him... I love Burton's Batmen (1989 and 1992)

That's why it was so powerful. Batman has a strict code and disciplines himself with how he deals with criminals. With the Joker, there were no rules. The Joker was the be-all-and-end-all of his pain. End The Joker and free the world from torment.

But did killing Joker truly end Bruce's pain. You can tell in some of the other films that in some ways, he's haunted by what he did, he feels some semblance of shame for taking it that far and that's why he became more disciplined and never went for the kill again.

My favorite lines were "Antoine got a little hot under the collar" and "You ARE a vicious bastard...I'm glad you're dead". Walks away laughing at his own joke.

I first watched this when I was a kid and it was on VHS. Before I only had Batman Forever to go by as well as the 60s TV series and the 90's animated series. So I had no idea Batman was supposed to be dark and scary. Needless to say I liked it better.

It was truly incredible. I must have been in 4th grade. My parents were into it. Everyone was into it. My parents didn't read comic books growing up. It was Michael Keaton as batman and Jack Nicholson as the joker. No one was going to miss out on it.

At the end of the day, you can’t really compare the Burton Batman and Nolan Batman movies. Both eras are entertaining portrayals in their own right.

My issue with Batman killing in BvS was that in this film (and Forever and the other one which I will not speak its name) he only kills when he has to. Or at worst, as "collateral damage" such as when he blows up the chemical factory. In Returns and especially BvS, he doesn't hold back. Side note, but one of the most annoying things about season 2 of Daredevil with the Punisher was that you had one guy who ALWAYS killed and another who ALWAYS refused to kill. Granted they both had their reasons behind their ideologies, but how difficult would it have been to come to the common compromise of killing only when necessary?
