A few years ago I was working at an Advertising Agency in Las Vegas and one of our clients was AFAN - Aid for AIDS of Nevada. We had asked if clients would be willing to come in for a photo shoot. It was a diverse gathering and I appreciated everyone coming. There was a gentleman who was so sick and consumed with the final stages of AIDS that he spent most of the time throwing up in the bathroom. He was there and fighting for the cause. I don't know his name but I remember his strength.

Ryan white gets me every time. For a kid who did nothing and the whole town attacked him was awful. There were brothers in Florida that contracted it and they burnt their house down. Its unbelievable what these people went through. I was a kid when this happened and I remember the sentiment everyone that had it deserved it. That's a simplistic understanding of the virus and how the epidemic developed. It took thousands of years for the virus to jump from primates to humans and turn into an epidemic. You can thank Nixon and the War On Cancer for the research dollars that went into studying the immune system and infectious diseases. If it wasn't for this funding the epidemic could have been far greater.

I had to watch this for school. No movie ever made me more mad and sad at the same time. The actors were great, the facts were stark, and this song at the end... I started crying in the middle of class. I wanted to use Francis' speech as a monologue for acting class, but it wasn't long enough. "How many dead hemophiliacs do you need? How many people have to die to make it cost effecient for you people to do something about it? A hundred? A thousand? Give us a number so we won't annoy you again until the amount of money you begin spending on lawsuits make it more profitable for you to save people than to kill them!" His passion with that speech was so tangible, you would think you were watching it as it really happened.

I saw this movie in my history class my senior year of high school. It was also around this time a very close friend of my mother's passed away to complications from AIDS. When this scene came on as we were watching it in class, I had to leave the room and to this day I cannot watch it it without crying.

I absolutely love this tribute, along with another extremely beautiful song by Elton John. Let’s also add to the list of celebrities who died of AIDS: Nascar’s Tim Richmond and Rapper Eazy-e.

I remember when GRID came out. Its sad. These people had no idea that their lifestyle was going to destroy them. Aside from the children born non-cesarian and blood transfusion recipients, they almost all could have been avoided.

The LGBTQ community just wants to be part of the human race and that's not asking a whole lot bc they're humans too and that's literally all that matters in the eyes of God. Nothing else. Elton John is so talented too and in touch with his soul and spirit completely through his music and lyric's. 😍

I wasn't rejoicing in his death either, I was merely saying his legacy has blood on it's hands. I remember when my friend Wayne died, we walked in front of the White House rolling his casket, with his mom's blessing of course, and opened the casket in front of the White House to remind Reagan. This is exactly how Silence=Death was born. Shameful!

Here in Long Beach Ca., there were many businesses that were closed, because the owners and/or many of the staff had died from AIDS. My cousin died from it, and it wasn't known until some years alter. I've heard from someone in the know, that Freddy Mercury wrote the lyrics, and it was in reference to his dad. He had no intension of making a song out of it, but someone close to Elton knew of it, found it and handed it over to Elton, with the agreement, that Freddy not be known as the writer, as he had no intention of making it public.
