That final shot of Andor looking out to the sea not only mirrors the shot of his death on Skariff, but it also reminds me of something my mother told me when both my grandparents died: once you've lost both parents, the feeling of utter loneliness and abandonment is overwhelming. You are now essentially an orphan, and no matter how big or close the rest of your family is, losing your parents makes you feel like you are all alone in the world. Which is exactly the look on Andor's face in that final shot. It's like he's thinking "Oh shit. This is it. It's just me now". Powerful stuff, man.
Beautifully said and so true. My dad passed in 2019 and my mom passed in 2020. I was 52 and 53 at the time and, when my mom was gone, I felt a level of loneliness I didn't think was possible. It really does feel like being orphaned, no matter your age.
I'm 47 and I figure if all goes well I'll still have my mom around when I'm 63. You'd think I'd be prepared for the inevitability of it all. But I'll guess i will find out when it happens.
Many people bitching about the show...didn't even watched the show. It's anecdotal but I've caught two people red handed. People are mostly mad after boba and kenobi compounded by "there's no jedi" syndrome
When my mom was dying I got a call on the phone. The boys gave me a pick-up truck and I drove to the closest airport with the first flight home. My boys told me not to worry about the truck they'd pick it up. 6 hours later I was there to tell the doctor to pull the plug - her wishes. Thank you gentlemen for this reaction. I can't watch that scene without crying.
The smart thing Luthen did when his ship was held in the tractorbeam: he pushed his engines to max, so they had to increase the pulling force, which in turn makes the countermeasures more effective as they also get pulled by the beam.
@@loveblanket6512 I literally sat there with my jaw dropped, mouth open. Then I rewound it and watched the whole scene again. I can't remember the last time I did that.
This show is so good at making you care about the characters. One minute it breaks your heart and the next minute you are so pumped up that you’re ready to grab your lightsaber and join the fight
Any show that can make me care about and even tear up for a ROBOT has got to be good. And that Luthen ship battle is one of the coolest things I have ever seen in Star Wars.
What I love though is how there are no lightsabers or force powers or anything. This is what it's like for everyone else. Just brutal fighting with whatever you have.
You guys are magic to watch because you don't interrupt the video; you give your honest reactions before and after. Both of y'all are openly crying at the end of this episode, wiping away tears. You appreciate the medium and are completely invested in the art of storytelling. So many other reactors just pause every fifteen seconds and shout "WHAAT?" or try to make bad jokes that just takes the viewer out of the moment. You guys make jokes before and after watching the content (as you should), but during the reaction you are just being real, and we notice that.
As an older 70/80s Star Wars fan with aging parents, the moment that hit me the hardest this series was that moment Andor learns that his mother had passed away; there is the natural quietude punctuated by the wind & waves crashing & ebbing- Cassian’s face silent yet showing us everything internally. It cut into me deeply and scenes like that are what differentiate a common series from truly exceptional works of televised art.
Andor is number 1 to y'all. No problem. I'll add that important detail for you. No debating is highly correct. Your opinion is YOURS. With that said, this is the best Star Wars show 🤣🤣🤣🤣💯💯
You said last time the show should be called "the Realness" and this is what your reactions are, guys. you are the realness. the best reactors on youtube, you really feel it and tell it like it is
Always look forward to your reactions, and you never disappoint - this show is top tier and I haven't been this invested in characters and their struggles for a long time! Layered, emotional and yet relatable - all the feels!
I look forward to watching y’all reaction to these episodes of this series, you guys are objective and you know good TV, so tired of small minded people saying this is boring
What’s worst is that he told his mother he’d come back, and then the prison happened. Maybe that was his motivation to escape. And then hearing she’s passed. Geez man.
Every single character in this show, no matter how small, seems so relatable - you feel for them A sign of a good show for me is when the writing and acting is so well done in scenes where it's just straight dialogue and it still just makes you TENSE
that last scene took me back to when I got the news that my mom passed away...I had that same face and everything. This is the greatest piece Star Wars content, TV shows AND MOVIES! RIP Mom
When I watched Andor get the news about his Mom being gone... I thought right back to the day I got the call of my Mom's passing. how I felt, the raw pain of the shock... This show is another level over all the previous content. Mando is fun, this is life stuff.
I lost my mom in 2020 and seeing Andor finding out about Maarva hit me hard. This show is one of the most powerful and emotional series out there. There isn't a single bad episode.
Shoutout to my best boy Brasso. Shows compassion to a grieving droid & still capable of kicking major arse. Luthen & Saw scene was freaking brilliant - Luthen manipulated Saw like a master spy at the top of his game. And then that scene with the tractor beam - no pithy fly by the pants responses by Luthen. Nah uh. Just cold professional responses while he puts his plans into action. This dude knows what he's doing in every single situation. Val is going to get herself and others killed sooner or later with her lack of protocol & situational awareness. I can see it coming all way from Season 2.
Speaking of face acting. That Genevieve O'Reilly's scene from the previous episode...The entire time she was able to emote a sense of annoyance and disgust. Then at the very end she turned all of that off and gave a flustered/rushed denial. She emoted EVERYTHING! Even the lie! The acting on display from everyone is just a masterclass at this point
people get so mad about this show being tonally different from other SW shows or movies. why, when Star Wars is this massive fucking universe, can’t multiple tones and genres exist within it?
agree with everything you guys talked about at the end + i think the reason the last scene is so impactful is that cass doesn’t have the time to grieve, he hears this news about his mother passing while just escaping prison and having to figure his next move, there’s no time to sit down and grieve that loss and that sucks, he has to keep moving with shit hitting him back to back, his face acting is so incredible cause you like you said you can see that defeat. andor is too top tier man
Love the honesty of your reactions, dude. Some reactors miss the point in shows like this wanting more light sabres and Easter eggs. But you guys get it.
The Narkinians said that the Empire's prison spoiled their water 💧. Those particular prison facilities were industrial factories 🏭. It figures that anywhere the Empire does mining (most especially *_strip mining_* 😰), or has some kind of factory 🏭 🤔, there's a huge chance that there would be devastating consequences for the planet and all who dwell there 🥺😣😔.
I loved this episode. Diego Luna killed it. They really show you how living under an oppressive government puts people in a corner where they have no choice BUT fight back. Cassian would have happily fucked off like 8 episodes ago but they just can't let him live.
Glad I wasn't the only one leakin & shit. Its surprising how much I care about these characters considering most of them are probably dead in present star wars cannon, whatever that is. Andor is my favorite show of 2022.
You really have to feel for Cassian. He already went through so much, leading up to and including the prison break and surviving the ocean. And when he finds out Maarva is gone, he's feeling alone and then immediately the only other person he was with and who he knows to have survived the prison, also leaves him to go his own way. At the end of this episode, he is truly at his lowest and all alone. And it's an incredible juxtaposition to what comes next
Im usually not a big fan of particular reaction channels but I'm really enjoying you guys. Its really cool to see you not only not writing this show off for taking its time, but also really putting your emotions on display and showing how much it connected with you. Takes courage, good on you.
Y’all I was crying at the end scene when cassiane looked at the sunset. Amazing episode and the action sequence with Luthen was so fucking badass it had my heart racing the whole time
The only way to binge it is after watching it 1 episode at a time, so you know what is coming next. You're 100% right - trying to binge it cold would be way too stressful.
This was of The Best reactions and breakdowns of this episode. In the Game of Thrones era we got so used to big set pieces or battles in the penultimate episode. But here comes Andor carving out their own way and still leaving us WRECKED. I can’t wait to see y’alls reaction to the finale!!! Diego Luna and the Andor account on Instagram posted about being on set for Season 2… 2024 can’t come fast enough. Need more of this ART from Gilroy and Co.
What an incredible performance from Diego Luna at the ending there… it would have been so easy to overdo it. ‘Face acting’ - great way to put it, and I love your visceral emotional reaction. And I absolutely agree about bingeing it - I couldn’t handle that level of emotion without proper time to digest it. Great writing, acting, music score… Andor is perfection.
The performances on this show are up there with the greats. Just like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. "professional actors doing professional acting things".
The way the lighting strikes the officer in the ship with Luthen on the end of the tractor beam looks really classic Star Wars I don’t know what the fuck they did but the lighting or maybe the actor makes it look like it’s from the 70s and I love it
Yes, the writing and acting alone in Andor beats the others for top Star Wars series. Then you add on the cinematography, the sets, the costumes. Mainly the writing is way better.
I binged it over the last couple of days because I’m a masochist I guess, and this shit fucking killed me. It’s so incredibly good, my favorite Star Wars show by far and one of my favorite shows period, but not gonna lie, I am a broken shell of a human being at the moment.
