I'm 14 and you'd be surprised at the sheer amount of guys I know who are into this type of thing. Not that long ago I had a crush on a boy but when I spoke to him, he was just regurgitating all of this Andrew Tate, Adin Ross, Sneako, type bs, when I was trying to have a genuine conversation with him. Most of the boys I was friends with in elementary and middle school have also adopted this ideology, and talking to them has become so unenjoyable. I'd also like to point out how common incel culture is becoming amongst them, whether that is misogyny and homophobia, to blackpill and looksmaxxing. The worst part is that it is usually at the expense of us, their female peers, and their own mental health. I don't think this type of content is benefitting anyone. I'm not sure what the future holds or how we're gonna fix the growing issue of this ideology amongst middle/high school boys but I think something needs to be done. I guess these are simply the consequences of most of us having unsupervised internet access our entire lives. It's too easy to radicalize children nowadays. EDIT: Thank you to the people who have comforted and assured me that it will get better, it means a lot. Also thanks to those of you who complimented me for my writing lol. I'm enjoying reading all of these opinions. It seems like 70% of people who replied think that it'll fizzle out but the remainder think that it's only gonna get worse. I'm really curious as to what will come of this all.

I actually went to university to study actual marketing, and then an MBA. Not whatever these kids think marketing is. It’s actually sad how they’ve changed the meaning of marketing to be synonymous with scam.

I just hope this kid can snap out of this quickly and enjoy his childhood being carefree and not worrying about work for as long as he can. But considering this probably has to do with the adults in his life, I think he might not have that opportunity... God, this makes me sad.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I think this ideology goes farther than Andrew Tate. I think kids are realizing how bad the economy is right now and that their parents can't afford as much, so they're leaning into bad role models. Everyone knows that the nine to five is not fun or rewarding and the school system is terrible and it doesn't even guarantee success out of college. I think there's real frustration among these kids that is valid, but they're naive and looking to the wrong people for answers, since a lot of the adults they're around don't have those answers either.

You could make the argument for why someone shouldn't go to college but... high school? middle school? buddy public education is free and you legally can't get a job until you're 16 in the states. Also I'm pretty sure you have to be older than 12 to even be allowed to drop out of primary school to begin with.

I will actually tell him the point of school. College isn't always necessary, but he's in grade school. The reason you are told to go to school for 12 years is because they are trying to teach you thousands of years of human knowledge. "If you don't learn from history, you are doomed to repeat it" the 12 years of grade school is them trying to teach you that shit so that you can build and advance human knowledge. But then you have people who say "I didn't learn anything from school" I say "you were in the back of the class texting. It really makes me sad that this kid doesn’t realize the absolute privilege it is to be able to go to school TO LEARN. There are so many places that don’t offer public education to people(especially women) and it really makes a difference. Having public FREE education is so so important and it sucks that kids don’t realize how amazing it is they have these opportunities. As someone who’s a recent high school graduate and is taking a year off to work and save up money for college, I think that high school was a great experience. You get to meet new people and while there are tough times, it feels so great once you finish school and have a real accomplishment to your name. Also, for the whole creativity thing, I’m just as creative as ever. My mind is a constant factory of ideas.

I played my first show when I was 13, first sold out show when I was 15, dropped out of school at 16, my entire life at that point was about music and grinding... I missed out on a lot of the fun things people my age were doing and by the time I got to my mid 20s I had missed it all completely, was totally out the loop with my friends, ignored a lot of girls to focus on being successful and I struggled to be around groups of people that weren't my band - it was cool at the time and my musical skills are beneficial to me now but I've hardly got anything to show for it, only resentment for missing out on what it's like to be a normal teen/young adult - now my life is just work and some fun hobbies at the weekend, I've got plenty of time to still make lots of money and live a successful life but I'll never get that time back

Even if you think the information you're learning isn't useful, the social skills are absolutely essential.
