This is the first piece of political commentary i've heard in a long time that didn't make me want to skin myself like a mole rat afterward. This is a very nice feeling.
UBI is completely unsustainable, there literally is no way to suck up a massive program probably larger than social security. Us is too big for it to work
@@serrianarchipelago7582 Yang said it himself. Cut back on the budget, raise taxes, get companies to stop tax dodging. This would do wonders for the economy by opening up jobs more, increase government funding, and allowing people to be more productive and not debt monsters living paycheck to paycheck, 2 dollars keeping them from the streets... Also, not every single citizen gets the Freedom Dividend. Only 18+ year olds.

I'm wondering how good this could be for Yang. Being on multiple podcasts and talking about his views to people who may never have even thought of paying attention to politics. It is a very interesting scenario, and I'm personally thinking this is a good move on his part.
Yeah dude no joke. I am very much disconnected from politics, but after having watched this whole podcast I’m very interested in this guy’s ideas. I don’t wanna jump the gun and say I’m a full supporter, cuz of course it’s easy for the guy to sound good when it’s just a straight hour and a half of him explaining all his ideas. But it has at the very least made me interested in perhaps paying more attention to what’s going on with all the democratic candidates right now, and I’ll be going into it with a positive image of him in my head
If there's a recession comming...our generation is gonna get fucked... seriously. We need to accelerate...we need to fight for a better future . Yang gang !!!
I'm a student in Germany. But find it so fascinating to listen to Yang. I'm working in the AI and automation world and he is the only one who has recognised the shift. The other politicians are clueless on what's happening. No one touches on the topic at all. And I understand that. It's hard for people who aren't in the tech to realise that tech grows exponentially. It remains primitive for a long time and then starts developing at an accelerating pace. It's hard for the human mind to visualise this exponential growth. It's hard for someone to look at an AI in 2000s and make the connect at how advanced it gets in 20 years!
As someone who is in the computing business in the Netherlands, I know exactly what you mean. I also know if the US adopts this policy other countries which could use this are much more likely to do it too.
@@venator8139 He's probably the least anti-gun person running as dem. WOAH - where did this guy come from?? Why is no one talking about him?? I think he's my favorite Democratic candidate so far, and I didn't even know about him!!
Tons of people on social media are talking about him, but the mainstream media is trying to stay away. We are hoping they won't have a choice soon once he qualifies for the next debates! Keep him trending!
Steven Owens i’m part of his base camp, i can tell you it’s really wide and varying. there’s a surprising amount of libertarians and conservatives in the group who see his policy as modern conservatism. one of his sayings is “not left, not right, forward.” i think it’s true. i was politically i engaged after 2016. not just because trump was elected but because hillary was nominated. I can’t recommend highly enough to visit Yang’s policy page. 100+ policies. Structured, sound and logical.
I'm a 33 year old Catholic male. Growing up, I never paid much attention to politics. I just went along with my parents political support for Republicans because they were avid supporters of the no abortion policy. I never cared for any presidential candidates, always felt like I was picking the lesser of two evils so I just drifted along with my parents ideology. Andrew yang is the first one that made me reflect on a deeper level about Americas problems and how we can all pitch in to make a difference. It's amazing what youtube has been able to do, by providing a way for the people to fight back against main stream media and their own agenda backed by corporations.
Peter Tran and women should always have the right to choose abortion. I had one at the age of 21, and I would love to speak with you more about the subject. It was one of my the best decisions I’ve ever made in my 33 years of life.
Peter Tran I for one rarely use Twitter or comment on RU-vid and I am now up on a Sat nite feeling the vids and comments on these vids from ppl who care about the future of America and our kids, right? That’s a big change on me! And Andrew and all Andrew supporters are making me making the change as everyday goes by, it’s just freaking amazing!! Yang2020!
El-ahrairah Well, I do like Bernie and Tulsi as well, I don’t care whatever labels media had tagged them with, it’s just that I have morphed over time believing that a bigger change is necessary to cure all the disarray we see and the person in order to do it is a person that’s from the outside with no baggages
El-ahrairah I am not trying to be all defensive but H3 pbbly started the show with lots of pre-emptive thoughts wherever they came from, for me, as a Taiwanese neutralized US citizen, I was skeptical. But the issues at hand is really bigger than the color of your skin or the stereotypes. Andrew’s simply wants to trickle it up from the ground up

I love how instead of being extreme on a certain side (CNN, FOX News), Yang likes to look at positives and negatives from both sides, and he doesn’t lie. It’s so refreshing to see a little bit of gray in a candidate after so many years of just black and white.
if you read his book filled with data and facts, you will realize he has done profound research on Automation/AI/Robots, Social and Economy issues we are facing, He interviewed lots experts, guru in variety fields as well as common Americans before he wrote his book and brought up the solution Freedom Dividend, and other over 100 policies. His policies are based on Research, investigation rather than simple sympathy on Poor people.
WereSquatch You’re correct. They like getting people fueled up against each other because it draws in more views for their programs and it’s creating this society where everyone is just so extreme and blind on a certain side where they fail to be civil and look at the positives and negatives for each side or think for themselves. I’ve been looking for someone like Yang for a while, who isn’t so severe on a certain side, and someone that likes to stay closer to the middle.
This guy is just an idiot. He says we need UBI because the robots will take all the jobs, but that UBI is good because it will help people look for jobs.
I’m 29 years old and it’s embarrassing to say but I’ve never been this excited for presidential campaign. Yang has data; he knows stats; he has solutions. I’ve never heard a politician who doesn’t repeat a question. He actually has “solutions” for every questions and IT MAKES SENSE. I see myself nodding because I agree with him in terms of automation taking over millions of jobs around our country. We CAN make positive difference if we work COLLECTIVELY! It’s time for our people whether you’re immigrants/blacks/Asians/whites to come together and vote for this man. He has my vote and it will be my first time voting.
What about the fact that his 12000 a year plan is literally impossible in its current form but keep living your lie also he wont win hes poleing at 2% lmfao
First of all I'm a big yang fan. But I think in this 'podcast' Ethan proves that he is a good interviewer: he probed Yang way more than Rogan, asked all the right questions that I would want to ask. Massive resprect, Ethan.
He wasn't really asking any tough questions though. He didn't ask him at all about healthcare, foreign policy, criminal justice reform, or any of the policies proposed by his contenders. Only very soft ball questions. It felt like a plug for Yang to advertise his campaign. I feel like Ethan could have being a little more adversarial. However, I still enjoyed watching it.
This is my favorite candidate by far. He had an interview with Ben Shapiro and appeared on so many other TV shows that has never or rarely ever has politicians showing up. This man isn't afraid of questions and is very humble coming to do interviews with many people. He doesn't take extreme sides and I feel he is the candidate that the average person can relate to the most as well. He makes a lot of sense and has good data and support to back up his policies. I don't really think anyone can hate this man who genuinely cares about the people. People who have sat with him and talked tend to end up agreeing with Yang and liking him.
I was wavering between Bernie Sanders and Andrew Yang, but after doing more research the conclusion I got to is: Sanders - Revolution Yang - EVOLUTION We need to think harder about the future, and right now the only candidate that understands our future and how humans interact with technology is Andrew Yang.
@@christianw6819 A large part of Yang's policy is derived from Sanders. Yang's policies are broadly speaking similar to Sander's. Yang and Sanders actually get along pretty well (Yang admitted Bernie's helped the country and does good work). Bernie also supports the people, including often disenfranchised minorities; how is he disgusting. Bernie is an actually principled person and (for people like me) the only hope for us to stay afloat. My family nearly went bankrupt from my medical bills when I was born. We barely managed to keep our insurance and we're fine now, but we were close to essentially going bankrupt from no fault of our own. We don't waste money and save all we can, but we would have lost everything because of private insurance companies. Bernie is the only hope for people like me. So to say he is disgusting is honestly something I find very upsetting and unreasonable. A principled person who cares about people- if you think that's disgusting, I don't know what to say to you. Probably you'd find Trump much better- gotta ruin people's lives and take corporate money- can't allow "socialism" even if it's the only way to save millions of lives, gotta vote for the racist orange
Most of the shit posters are Russian bots. They're starting to notice him; you can tell by the fractured English and a strange interest in keeping a psychopath in the US Presidency for another however many years. Seriously, anyone who hasn't noticed by now that Trump is toxic really needs to be shut down with force.
@no name How? Distributing money to everyone is not a good idea. Its possible to live off 12k a year and people will do that and not work. Seems to me that it is a communist/socialist plan.
@no name Basic income has been tried several times without working. Also he says "per adult", how many people do you think will come flooding into our country, attempting to get much more then they are used too. Why would anyone work at minimum wage, they are only getting 3k more for working full time.
He speaks Human. I like that. Until today, I never paid much attention to Andrew Yang-- mostly because I thought people wouldn't buy his UBI idea. But now I'm seeing he's much more than that; now I'm finding that I'm clicking on his name every time I see it...

TaraCote I totally agree. Yang is honestly a genius. I read his book a few months ago and it blew my mind. Highly recommend it, it's called "The War on Normal People".
Yang feels like an actual real person. He’s crazy smart but he doesn’t flaunt it or rub it in your face. I can’t remember the last politician who acted this way.
Anyone who doesn’t vote for this man or believe in what he’s saying is not trying to hear him. He has amazing policies and backs them all with cold hard facts. He doesn’t constantly try to discredit other politicians, he speaks purely facts
It’s so beautiful and refreshing hearing a conversation between three people that don’t cut off eachother at any point and only start talking when the other person stops
If you wanna see him go against trump, please consider changing your party affiliation and voting for him in the democratic primaries. He needs all the help he can get.
Nick L. As a Conservative I don’t know if I would vote for Yang. He has a hell of a campaign, but his agenda is just to far left for me to consider voting for Yang. On the other hand I’m not crazy about Trump. As a deeply rooted Christian I would much rather have someone that’s more respectful and open to new ideas. If no one new comes up in the Republican Party, I still think my vote still lies with Trump.
Ccmitch More income in people’s pockets (including yours unless you are young) will make the economy thrive with high purchase power. Welfare already exists, and that terrible system will be replaced by the unbias UBI.
I rarely ever comment but, this man has so much competence that I haven’t seen in such a long time. Solid points, that have real solutions. Plus, I absolutely love the fact that he’s not going with the violent video game narrative that every other politician goes with. I’m glad I’ll be turning 18 in 2020, I know who I’m voting for.
the video game narrative is perpetuated exclusively by right wing politicians. generalizations like the above are why people just say "ew politics" and dont vote. or say "hillary clinton is just as bad as DONALD TRUMP" and dont vote.

@@peterpan1630 Of course. "VAT" is short for Value Added Tax, and what this means is that every transaction of a specified type has a set tax on it. Taxes like these exist all across the world, in over 160 countries especially because they are basically impossible to dodge. A VAT in America at half the European level (so 10%, as in most of Europe it is around 20%) is estimated to generate around 800 billion dollars a year in new revenue. The great thing is that the revenue from a VAT increases as the economy does better, so the better off the economy, the more the government has funding to provide services.
Ive lived in Australia and UK, Australia’s Vat is called GST (goods and services) and last I knew was 10%. UK has had VAT for decades and is currently 20%

@@neptune9443 I am not negative like that guy and like a lot of it but to be fair in the EU the vat is paid for by the customer at the end of the day. When I went there once we paid a 10% VAT on top of sales tax. The company simply passes it on to the consumer, kind of like tarrifs but worse, so this means everything will cost 10% more. On top of that inflation even at current rates will eat away at the value of $1k and decrease your real purchasing power significantly. This will end up actually worsening the real poverty gap because well some people might rise out of poverty, people in the middle class making 30-50k per year will be squeezed even tighter by all the costs of living. This is called shrinking the middle class and sadly, has happened in the past. It's an event where the rich get slightly less wealthy, the government gets slightly wealthier, the poor get slightly wealthier but only for a short amount of time, and the middle class gets shafted. This is my main concern. Even worse would be normal working class people losing their employer sponsored health insurance plans, which is in Bernie's plan, and Yang does not plan to do this immediately because he knows he'd lose our votes but he has a long-term plan to roll it out in his second term. This happened to my single mother under Obama and she had to pay $900 a month in health insurance!! She had to get a full time job at the age of 62 which is heartbreaking for my family who wanted her to enjoy a good healthy retirement. My other friend who runs a small business, is currently paying $26k a year to provide health insurance for his family of 4. I don't know the exact numbers but it's something like 30% of his income. These democrats assume everyone running a small business is wealthy when my idea of a small business is selling stuff on the side for some extra cash to help pay for child care.
