Android Can FaceTime with iPhone - Google Duo 

Who else came here thinking that facetime would work with this app

From one 73 year old about to connect with her doctor's office for a medical appointment thank you for being so clear and the process. First time face timing on a medical appointment.

As an android user, I am resentful that video chatting someone is called "facetime" because apple refuses to support facetime on non-apple products. This is the same with i-Cloud. If Apple devices are so great, why don't they allow their services to be used on other platforms? Are they afraid people will stop using iPhones and jump ship?

Thete should be an universal Video call integrated in the OS! No extra Application.

You guys are forgetting, not everyone prefer other apps for video calling or messaging. Let's say if your grandparents only want to just video chat? Well they can't get Skype or other 3rd party apps because then they would have to make an email account and make an account for that app. With Google Duo, it's simple and not many people like messaging in video chats. Just think about that guys. Google Duo makes it easy for some people that have a hard time figuring out how these other 3rd party apps. In addition, all you pretty much do is verify your phone number and your good to go. While many of you question this app, just appreciate the fact that this makes it easier for some people that only want to video chat. Agree or disagree, it doesn't make much of a difference. Just think about that guys, don't be ignorant. If you think you don't like it then don't bother using it if you already use 3rd party apps.

i am wondering if google duo has way to type back and forth or voice recogntion with will caption what a person is saying for those users who are hard of hearing or have difficulty with speaking but want to engage in video call with another person.

Now with this app can you leave the screen to multi task at the same time your video chatting. Like iPhone when your on FaceTime and you hit the home button or change apps to check something and it says paused on the other person screen?

My husband and I have androids and we are having issues with our contact lists on install of Duo. Not all of our contacts are showing up and in fact my contact list seems to be appearing on his phone rather than his. Do you have any suggestions to fix this?

It took less than 2 mins to do this DUO thing with my Fiance. We both have J3's so I think that made it easier.

When I launch Duo on my android phone and dial a friend who has iphone, the app sends him a text to download duo (on his iphone) to video chat. He tried to click the link and it's disallowed. Why doesn't the app automatically connect to him with his facetime and my duo?

Problem is it needs to be “installed”. Good luck getting non-tech savvy iPhone users to install a video chat app just so you can call them. That is why FaceTime works so well is it is pre-installed so you can call anyone without them having to pre-load some random app. It takes the spontaneity out of it.

Facetime is developed by Apple for iOS devices only. Duo is made by Google and is supported on Android phones and iOS devices. It is not Facetime or even designed by Apple or any affiliation with Apple. The title is wrong and misleading. They work totally different, with Facetime requiring an Apple ID and Duo requiring a phone number.Since when does Facetime have Knock, Knock and allow you to preview before someone calls? Again, not a Facetime clone and hangouts allows video calls and also is cross platform and just requires a g-mail account so that would be similar to Facetime than Duo. No issue with you trying to show off a product, but this is very misleading especially for people who are not tech savvy. Please spread correct knowledge and facts, not sure why you think Duo is affiliated with Apple or Facetime.

What's the difference between Skype are WhatsApp, the same thing but we want to see integrated solution from Samsung. I do see icon video calling but nothing happens when you click on it just makes a regular voice call

Watching other videos on this subject it seems like you have to give the app a lot of permissions in order to use it. One video mentions the app sends all your contacts to Google periodically. I'm not sure I would be interested in using it for this reason.

Im glad they did this I don't really like to facecall ln messenger and Snapchat when I'm using my samsung tab s5e I can facecall my other friends and my girl because of course Im the only one without a phone and and they all got iphones thank you for this
