I remember him like this and when he was in DD and I see him now and he looks like a different person. He hasn't aged well. I know he has been battling cancer so I'm sure that's why, but I still love him with all my heart.
OMW! Andy Taylor! What an underrated talent! Just like his former band mates. But finally inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame with said former band mates!
DD with Andy has the best of both worlds. Without Andy they only have the best of one world. This guy has all the energy, presence, talent and killer sound that DD lacks when he's not in. Even Simon behaves differently when Andy is on his side. Sometimes I imagine how high the band could have gone if they had stayed together. They had it all, it was a good balance between the electronic pop leading the 80ies and the energy of rock and roll brought by Andy. Just listen to Arena. The summom of what they did together. Beautifull tunes, edgy guitars, atmospheric layers of synths, frenetic rythm/bass line and a perfect frontman with an incredible voice. They could have grown together and become a top respected band. With Andy the 90ies would have been piece of cake for them, instead of struggling for their identity, trying to find their sound. That 87 tour shows Andy at his best. Unfortunately the industry is cruel and he didn't get all the support he needed. Thanks for sharing. Andy will never be replaced, never. Happy to hear about his new treatment. Best news in months.
This album & concert is clear that DD held back his atomic talent. Going solo was ABSOLUTELY necessary. SO GLAD the world got to see this endless, raw talent & FREEDOM. Thank you Andy for not compromising & creating amazing, badass music. If there's a revenge concert, this is it.⚡⚡⚡🔥🔥🔥🔥🎸🎸🦈
That is a common descending guitar riff. Used in many songs. And its played over a different chord progression. But I can understand how to some that arent musicians how it can sound similar.
Thanks for posting this. I have been listening to Thunder since it came out in the 1980s. Some great songs on there. I was disappointed that he never released the CD Motherlode a few years back. He had 30 second clips available online. Then, everything got pulled down and nothing was ever mentioned. I liked what I heard more than his latest album.
OMG! I love him. You can tell this is what he really wanted to do. His music style was more rock. He was a better singer than Simon IMO, plus a fantastic guitar player. DD was never the same without him. Love you Andy!
Andy was great with DD but as the band had to adjust without Andy, they grew with another incredible guitarist, Warren, and since Warren left, there was another unfulfilled void.
Let’s be honest, and speaking as a DD fan since 1981, Andy isn’t a lead singer and his songwriting talents disappear when he’s on his own. What he is is an inventive guitarist and Producer who’s collaborations with Robert Palmer, Rod Stewart & Thunder were always better than his solo efforts (as seen here). Thanks for posting though 👍
don't agree at all, as a duran fan from the beginning. Andy has a great voice as lead singer too. His firt solo album was really good. And his last single is a masterpiece.
@@paolodisimone5102 As I actually bought his first solo album as well as his associated Thunder, Rod Stewart, Robert Palmer, Power Station projects, I've given him enough of my time and money so that I feel I can give an honest opinion. I'm critical of DD too for putting out horrible albums like Madazzaland & Red Carpet massacre. But nostalgia keeps me hopeful as well as the occasional hidden gem like "What are the chances", Ball and chain, Beautiful Colours" which keep me hopeful. But I'm realistic, even fans sometimes have to agree to disagree 👍
@@yulaswift2439 personal tastes...I do like Medazzaland and Red Carpet Massacre too. Great experimental albums with a lot of gems and interesting tracks
Duran Duran were best as a brilliant pop group with Andy Taylor’s hard rock guitar bolted one. In the early days it was his power and charisma as a guitarist that put them over live in addition to John’s fantastic rhythm section with Roger. Opinions may vary but Andy was never convincing as a LA style soft rocker. He just doesn’t have the songwriting chops. Brilliant producer though 👍
