64 years old and now I know what it feels like to be a groupie. She is the Greatest of all Time and I have to have my Angelina fix every day. As stated before. She ruins the original for me with every cover she does. Just a fantastic all around human being.
Angelina has that very rare ability to touch you in places you never knew you had. No matter how many times I've listened to her I still get chills hearing certain nuances she brings to her story telling. And it certainly doesn't hurt that she's a beautiful human, inside and out. I'm 62 and I've heard most everybody yet she has managed to be my favorite of all time. Amazing talent, amazing voice, amazing soul.
Long time ago she came to the top of my list of best Vocalist of all time and she has stayed there past 7 Years... Thank you Shakes for doing my request to one of my all time favorite Angelina songs (at least top 25 of my favorites...oh so many) And I will absolutely agree she is better than 90% of what we have now and in the top 5 at least of all time singers. Thanks to another great reaction to another masterful performance by Angelina. No disrespect to you or Michael Blube - but while he may have also covered this song, he was not the original singer. In fact (being an old guy) I can remember my Mom playing this song on our record player as sung by Nina Simone in the mid 1960s. Anyway - always look forward to your Angelina reactions. I think another one that you might enjoy is I'd Rather Go Blind which Angelina covered at age 12. Thank you. And may GOD continue to watch over & bless Angelina Jordan.
When Volvo asked Avicii to collaborate in a promotion he insisted that he would only do it if Angelina sings the song. Feeling good was that song. You can Search Avicii Volvo promo to see it. She incidentally also did a tribute for him after his passing.
I cannot say that she is objectively in the top few singers ever. There is surely a long list of some extremely great singers over a long period of time across many genres who are clearly technically skilled and have an enormous emotional impact. But subjectively, Angelina is my favorite singer right now; I keep going back and listening to her over and over. Part of it is her talent and how her voice affects me, but also who she is as a person.
@@billweekley4077 Most singers stay in whatever genre made them successful either because that's just the genre they like, or because record labels insist that they do so because they are unwilling to gamble on an artist singing songs that the existing fanbase may not like. Also, Angelina doesn't cross genres as much some people make out, she stays within a group of related genres of jazz, blues, and pop. She has sung country and rock songs but she generally does this by rearranging the song to fit her style. It's like saying Whitney Houston sang country music because she covered "I Will Always Love You." Angelina's real power is singing with so many different voices within the genres that she does sing in. Few singers can sound remarkably similar to such vastly different singers as Amy Winehouse, Adele, Nora Jones, and so many others while simultaneously sounding as good or better than each of them. Other singers that have shown quite a bit of flexibility in their singing style are Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson, and Haley Reinhart. Haley is the best comparison because she has similar jazz influences as Angelina although they have a uniquely different set of abilities. I would actually like to see Angelina venture into hard rock or metal as some of the characteristics of her voice seem ideally suited to it but I am happy to see her concentrate on jazz and jazzy pop because it is what she does better than anyone I can think of.

It was first performed on stage in 1964 by Cy Grant on the UK tour and by Gilbert Price in 1965 with the original Broadway cast. Nina Simone recorded "Feeling Good" for her 1965 album "I Put a Spell on You" & it's been a jazz standard since.
What's the most amazing fact about AJ is that, even if you hear her now, evolved and her voice so much more powerful and refined, you can still go back to her younger self. She will almost always sound too good to be true!
If that ending doesn't give you chills, goosebumps, a lump in your throat and tears in your eyes all at once, then you have no emotions. She does an on stage performance of WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES at about the same age that is amazing.
Colin Pate,if you are thinking of her fantastic rendition of"What A Difference A Day Make"on an outdoor scene in a concert in the old Norwegian fortress Fredriksten in Halden Norway in a concert(show)called sing along on the border(between Norway and Sweden),you are wrong thinking that she is the same age as here,in that concert some months after she won Norway got talent in 2014,she was only 8 years old,or more correct eight and a half year old,being born the 10th of January 2006.
Frank, I was referring to the indoor performance with the colorful stage lighting. I'm not sure where it took place or her exact age but I love that performance. As a little boy I remember my mother singing that song around the house as she went about her business. She lived in London during the war and met my American father by chance at a VE parade, thus what a difference a day makes.

She can do anything and she would become a giant pop star if she goes in that direction but I am not sure that is the direction she will go. I think she may stick closer to her routes and I could see her as a female version of Michael Buble.
This tune much precedes Michael Bublé (it was originally in a 1964 musical). There are maybe half a dozen people on the planet that could end it the way Angelina did (and they're way older than 10yo)! Wonder what she would do now at 16?! Yeah, it's a little scary.
Great reaction Shakes. This is my all-time favorite of Angelina. It is my go-to song for about any singer. Angelina has the musical intelligence of a 30 year veteran diva combined with the humbleness and authenticity of a child. Her music is pure truth. Everything she does is remarkable and authentic. Great reaction Shakes. Vocal coaches have said that at this stage (10 yo), Angelina had reached Masterclass level for vocals & could be a vocal coach herself. I couldn't agree more!

I managed to mix it up and rewrote this comment :-) She is only 10 here and for the life of me I cannot hear anything non-adult here. This is such a beautiful recording: the visuals, the complete band strings and brass, the recording quality, all of it. At the age of 10 she owns the stage and is visibly enjoying herself. She does not get out performed by a full band and does not outperform them either It is a slow and beautiful build up towards the end. The blast is an obvious highlight, but the whole performance is filled with wonderful runs and locks in my attention during the whole song. The interaction with the band is great as well. It’s one of her recordings I can listen to so many times. Her smiles during and at the end show to me she was very satisfied with the whole thing as well. I don’t know if anyone has filled you in on the barefoot part? There is a story behind it. In short she gave her shoes away to a poor girl in the streets and has since been performing barefoot to raise awareness for poor children.
I love this video as well! There are two things about it that I find particularly amazing. First, how many 10 year olds are going to handle that close up fly-by of the camera with as much poise and professionalism as Angelina shows here? She's so comfortable on stage, and on camera. The second thing comes at the very end, after that amazing climax of the song. All of a sudden, after an amazing performance beyond her years, she turns back into an adorable 10 year old little girl. The smiles and giggles as the crowd applauds, the little curtsey. It kind of shakes you a bit and reminds you that she really IS a little girl with an amazing voice!

I found Angelina at the peak of the pandemic and I spend a lot of time watching reactors discover her hoping she will gain more attention. I have been able to curb my attention away from all the doom and gloom here in the U.S. and around the world by listening to her sing and watching her progress her way to superstardom. It's as if I am watching my own child evolve and rooting for her success. This arrangement of hers, which Angelina created between the ages of 9 and 10 (there are great videos of her rehearsals as she fine-tunes her version), is just amazing, which other artist at that age would have been able to do this ... She is simply beyond description, it's enough the emotional impact that her voice gives us, every single time. 💛 🧡 ❤️
I would like to suggest that you look at Angelina's performances on Norway's Got Talent in 2014. This is perhaps the introduction to Angelina Jordan for most of us. She started with Gloomy Sunday and then an acapella rendition of "I'm a Fool to Want You". This was followed by Nancy Sinatra's version of "Bang Bang" and the finale of Gershwin's "Summertime". She did a repeat of Summertime a few years later but her performance on NGT has to be seen. Thanks for the consideration.

Years ago, when I first heard her sing this, I thought of the Nina Simone version and compared it to that. Michael Buble wasn't even a thought. Not that he isn't good or very popular. It's just that he hasn't reached the period in time where his work is considered classic or iconic. Only time can attribute that. He will probably get there. When Angelina sings classic/iconic songs, she changes my sense of time and place.

Shakes you need to get your timeline in order. Before Buble' did his fantastic job on this song the late great Nina Simone made this song what it is, a treasure. It's original authors Anthony Newly and Leslie Bricusse wrote this for the play, "Roar of the Grease Paint, The Smell of the Crowd. So others did credit to this song before Michael and Angelina. Who's is best? Well to each their own. I am amazed at Angelina's because I didn't think she was going to make it to those top notes. She did and it stands as one of her better efforts.

Sorry to burst the Buble bubble (lol!). :) But he was not the original singer; he simply covered it as Angelina is doing here. "Feeling Good" goes way back originally to 1964 and was sung by Cy Grant in the British musical stage production of "The Roar of the Greasepaint - The Smell of the Crowd." The following year it came to Broadway. Many, many artists have covered this throughout the ensuing decades, not the least of which was Nina Simone (1965) after whom, I believe, Angelina is semi-patterning hers.
Just to add a fun fact. The musical was originally to be called “The Smell of the Greasepaint-The Roar of the Crowd”. Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricuse, the composers, decided to switch the two words to create some publicity. The critics had a hayday about that “Amatures mistake” not realizing it was intentional. The musical got the free publicity that the composers wanted.

Lol. It’s not Michael Bubble’s song. It’s Nina Simone’s. He covered it too. Edit: Actually Nina covered it too, but she is known for the most recognized version of it. It originally was in some musical way back in the early ‘60s.
