Her mastery of jazz is on full display here, for she takes the 'Gold Standard' for this song by Julie London and simply takes it to the highest level of perfection possible. What is she going to do with songs like this when she reaches adulthood? The thought is mind boggling.
Once again, she's just a child here. Angelina is jazz. She sings this like a woman who's been performing in smoky clubs for years. Angelina is so so special. Nick, I really enjoy your breakdown of her genius.
Just an amazing rendition! Sweet, sweet solo trombone makes this one of my favourites. A few times he reminds me strongly of Louis. Angelina is the star and he adds a lot of emotion to this, I’m so impressed.
This is one of my all-time favorites by her. Not bad for a 6th grader!!! And yes, you & virtually every other vocalist on the planet can learn from her.
You know Angelina is first and foremost a jazz singer; and it shines through in all her work. That is a crazy thing to say about a child, but true. This performance is so classy. Gorgeous vocals and a really beautiful trombone solo. Cool to se how you enjoyed that. Thanks!
This one is definitely in my top 5. I mean, what she did was so melodic with a jazzy and soulful touch, to say it was brilliant is an understatement. If she ever released her version of this song as a single I believe it would top the charts in every Country in the world. That's how strongly I feel about how she sang this classic. And, to be fair, "Thank you, Mr. Trombone player, you were great!"
News flash. Angelina is miles ahead of every singer in the USA. Please people. I like to see any so called star out there sing each song AJ sang so far. In a couch. No corny productions No glitter no fake machines. No one will match this child No one!
There is another video of Angelina singing "Cry Me A River" but I prefer this one solely because of the trombone soloist. I have heard trumpet, violin, bass and even drums but never a trombone. And I think he is masterful here. Oh, by the way I think it was Julie London who was one of the earliest singers to have a hit with "Cry Me A River".
I just love how natural she is, it’s clear that she has not been coached on how to move and what facial expressions to make, which make her seem so authentic 😍 Also I really appreciate how age appropriate she’s always dressed, her parents are doing a great job in this regard! 😊 Little girls should never ever have to entertain anyone, wearing adult style makeup and clothes, especially not revealing “sexy” clothes. That feels disgusting to even write, but sadly it happens, just remember jonbenet Ramsey, sadly children beauty pageant are still a thing ☹️
If I was forced to pick an AJ favorite, this would be it for me. This is so smooth, so perfect for her. She is so laid back and comfortable singing this, and at 11 yrs old! I loved your reaction to my favorite part "shed a tear". It's incredible what she's capable of. I would love for her to revisit this song. Great reaction.
Sometimes I feel Angelina uses her voice like a jazz instrumentalist. Those slides for an instance are like a brass instrument like the trombone for instance.
This is Angelina in her element and at her best. During those ages between 9 and 13 she produced what I considered to be as Nick said, phenomenal performances. This one is one of 100 songs in my top five! Commenting on something Nick said and others have stated about Angelina's age, it is frequently said that we have to wait till her 20s for her voice to fully develop and to reach her potential. I'm going to go against the grain partially on this and say that when you have reached a pinnacle of perfection in your art as Angelina did at this age, improvement can only be marginal. There is not a lot of room to go! The majority of young singers are nowhere near this level of accomplishment at her age so they have plenty to improve as they get older. I don't think Angelina falls into that category. She was already there! Just my opinion.
Nick, thanks for a great reaction to my request. My full given name is Phillip Andrew so I use both names at times. This is one of my favorite performances by Angelina and was one of 14 songs she sang at this concert in 2017 when she was 11 years old. I know a number of angels, including myself, have said, if we could only listen to one song for the rest of our lives, it would be this one. Angelina's beautiful tone hugs my soul and melts my heart.
That’s a big difference between the names Andy/Philip. I have a small discrepancy in my name between my official name and my daily name (a Dutch habit) but not that substantial :-) Thanks for this: it is indeed such a wonderful performance!
I get mentioning her age as her ability to sing is insane and being able to so young is even more insane. But saying "for her age" indicates she isn't phenomenal for other ages. Like saying she is good pisses you off, "for her age" has the same effect on me. Lol Here's a challenge. Who could stand on that stage and perform that song better...live? I know one person who could at least match it. That's Angelina Jordon. Her age is significant, but she is light years ahead of other singers of any age. She is a musical genius and the catagory is from ages 6 to 120. I always look forward to your AJ reactions because your reactions are awesome...for your age. Lol Sorry.
Cry me a river came out in1953,written by arthur hamilton and made famous in 1955 with a version by Julie London . Angelina sings it beautifully along with the band.❤🎶❤🎶❤🎶🇱🇷
Excellent reaction and they just dropped her Live 22 July 2022 Concert version of Whitney's, "I Have Nothing". This time it doesn't have the Kareoke track, it's amazing, God Bless!
Oooohhh, how I wish this was recorded by a television station, or at least the sound directly from the P.A.-system! This is one of her best performances of her BRR-period! (Before Republic Records contract). Along with A man's world and When we were young! Only 11, live (!) and it deserves a CD-recording! She inspired the trombone player to an extreme level too! Nice reaction! Thanks!
The pleasure of listening to her is one thing. But the naturality sincerity and professionalism you react with is also a matter of amusement! I've watched a lot of reactions, but your understanding and immediate to the point comments made me to subscribe to your account. Thanks for the pleasure I got
Nice reaction! Singing like a seasoned jazz pro! I love just how she just takes her time giving each word and line a flow and feeling that you can't ignore. This was beautifully put together. I felt like I was at a jazz club with a drink in hand at a table off to the side just watching her sing with a smile on my face. So good!
This performance really stands out- in fact the whole concert was on another level Prøysen festival July 21st 2017 will for ever be a special time for me.
This song touched me like my past had caught up to me. Angelina brought tears to this older man remembering Jazz clubs from back in the day. Big Bands sound that you dance all night until the Sun comes up: these were the golden Day. Nick, Angelina is a gifted person influenced by great Jazz singers like Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald to revive old-style Jazz sound for a new generation. Thank you for your reaction I'm listening.
I appreciate that you are the only singer/vocal coach I have found, in 6 months of watching new reactions multiple times daily, who seems to have the ability to attempt repeating what Angelina sang (as a demonstration or for your own curiosity) and does not offend me in doing so. (That’s meant as a high compliment! considering the high bar that Angelina sets.)
That man playing the horn is a little load looks like it’s hurting her ears. But she gets at the end of the song . She tickles me . She is so good the best 😊
I love her and it’s a bit Karen carpenter esq . Hiding behind the mic similar . She’s lovely young and her singing this jazz blues style is right on the money . She’s lovely . Xoxo
Huge congrats my man!! I think you went through the entire reaction without referring once to Angelina as a kid! Great applause! It's fitting though because you are realizing and acknowledging that she does things that ought not be able to be done regardless of age!
Loved your reaction to this superbly subtle and exquisite piece of jazz. Another gem on the necklace of invaluable music jewels she is fashioning for herself, and fortunately sharing with all of us.
You’re spot on in saying she can’t be beaten in this music genre. First time listening & I love your reaction style , so I’ve just subscribed. I have another young lady who cannot be beaten in HER music genre. She & Angelina’s journey are mirror images of each other. Her name is Amira Willighagen, who won Holland’s Got Talent at the age of nine, remarkably without a single singing lesson. Being a Soprano, it is extremely difficult to get Reactors interested, but when you have some uTube views in excess of 70 million , it doesn’t make sense. I’d appreciate even one reaction to Amira from you, & I’ll guarantee you’ll be absolutely hooked. The performance is : …. … O Mio Babbino Caro with the renown musician / conductor Andre Rieu with an audience of 15,000 who stood as one to give Amira a standing ovation. Amira was 10 years of age. Cheers Graeme. ps. Would appreciate a thumbs up if I’ve sparked enough interest for you to react to this amazing young artist with the voice of an Angel. ( sorry for the long winded post)
This is of course not the Justin Timberlake song as you soon found out. I think she is inspired by Ella’s version of this song. It is a classic and older than probably Justin’s parents :-) If you’d let her sing when you propose, you’d run the risk of your SO not listening to your proposal but being mesmerized by the performance. She is amazing here and indeed sings it smooth and soothing. The trombone player really is awesome as well. You can really learn from listening to her do her thing. My vowels have improved quite a bit listening to her and with the excellent instructions of my singing teacher.
Same venue where her Diamonds are Forever echoes in the forest still today.Did you know she had another go at Whitney’s I Have Nothing, in a proper diva dress at that traditional sing-along venue: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AqtIVYFjapQ.html

@@andyschnell58 Hey Andy, this is the roving troll that's been changing his RU-vid name over and over and over again just so he can post negativity and misinformation about AJ. I know it's the same person because this troll keeps using the same M.O. with his responses and accounts. A lot of us know who this is and we just offer prayers for this poor soul.
