He may have been with the Halos the longest but he was at his best with Tampa Bay. He made the culture there and turned a perennial 100 game loser to their first WS appearance. Come back Joe!

I wonder if it’s the owners that are hindering Angels from trading for a pitcher or players the team needs, Maddon seems to still have it to lead the team to the mountain top… we’ll see, stay healthy Ohtani

The owners are not the problem they’re willing to spend the money

The argument that an MVP shouldn't come from a team that isn't contending for the playoffs is mostly valid, unless a player from a middling team is saving/rejuvenating/resurrecting an entire league. How many previous MVPs have renewed the interest of former baseball fans? How many MVP candidates have caused a league-wide inflection point?

I'm one of those guys. I hadn't watched a baseball game in 10+ years until I came across an Ohtani video back in June. I'm now watching Angels baseball again.

When I lived in Santa Barbara , Calif there was a sushi restaurant called Sho Sushi. Seeing Suzy Shuster got me thinking - this is stuff for a tongue twister. Now Shohei comes along, so I had to update it a bit. Try saying this three times as fast as you can: SUZY SHUSTER SAW SHOHEI SHUCK SHELLFISH AT SHO SUSHI

As much as I love Ohtani and would be thrilled to see him win MVP, there is a point to not picking the MVP from a losing team. What’s every team’s goal? To win the World Series. If the team doesn’t make the playoffs there is no chance of winning the WS. Value of a player I feel is greatly diminished if that team doesn’t make the playoffs in my opinion.

Othani is keeping the Angels at .500 in a very tough division(Astros and A's). He can even beat the Red Sox and Ray's when he is pitching against them who are also the top teams in their division. If it wasn't for Othani the Angels would have the Texas Rangers record right now

That doesn’t determine value, value is how much a player CONTRIBUTES to winning, if the team is THAT bad but he CONTRIBUTES to winning more than a player who’s in the playoffs he’s more valuable

@@cantripleplays if how much he helps the Angels wins doesn’t result in a playoff birth I personally have have to think twice about voting him as the MVP. Again I LOVE Ohtani!! What he’s done for baseball is unprecedented. This is just a matter of an opinion.
