Ohtani is a perennial MVP if he stays healthy and is handled properly by manager and organization. The Angels have done right by him in that regard over the last two seasons, and Ohtani has remained free of serious injuries while excelling at both pitching and hitting. I hope for his health more than his payday. I think he cares much more about winning and the right situation with his team and city rather than making the most money. I think NY would not be as much to his liking--constant media harassment and unreasonable expectations, bad weather, not his preferred surroundings, etc. But I have no doubt he'll be in line for a huge contract especially if he continues to perform at a high level into this next season. I just don't think that's what he cares most about or that I care most about. Still, he deserves the money as a measure of his value to a team and MLB overall.

He has told them he wants to win and until we get an owner who is willing to spend like the Mets owner its not going to happen. I feel bad for Trout who probably wishes now he didn't sign that extension. If we can't sign him before the trade deadline then Perry to me has no choice but to trade him and get something for him instead of letting him walk for nothing but a draft pick.
