This dude rejects the solution to his problem because he has philosophical rejection to the idea of making registering to vote easier. Sounds silly to me. This guy wants to complain and that's it. He does not understand the word "compromise." He would get his requirement to show citizenship under Hillary's proposal; he would get what he wants. If I am forced to sign up to serve a "free country", then I see nothing wrong with having citizens automatically be able to vote. We should be expanding voter access not limiting it.

You have people afraid to go to the police or the hospital when they need help for fear of deportation, yet we're supposed to believe they'd go to a polling place and try to fill out a legal document that they have to answer a bunch of questions to even get and fill out a bunch more personal information to send, and that, knowing they may not have a social security number or some of the valid identification to fill in, might cause someone to get suspicious and look into who they are and what their situation is. Furthermore, aren't these right-wingers always complaining about how "illegals" can't speak English and don't assimilate? How is someone like that supposed to even understand what the hell they're actually doing while filling out a ballot? Maybe I'd be willing to believe they vote just on presidential candidates and leave the rest blank but this caller was talking about them swinging local elections, which I'm sorry, as someone who's born and raised in America _I_ don't even fully understand the local elections, I cannot honestly believe that someone who uprooted from a completely different country and culture, where they probably didn't have much opportunity for education over there let alone having had time to learn the particulars of a new and frankly really convoluted society, could meaningfully decide to meddle with a _local_ election and actually manage to get away with it. I mean seriously the discrepancies he's talking about would make one ballot suspicious enough, the obstacles I'm talking about overcoming would be hard enough for one person to get over, but a number like _5%_ of all CA ballots? Throughout MULTIPLE elections?? The odds of it not being noticed, the odds of that many people even having the means and knowledge to do it in any targeted way, it's, I feel safe in saying, impossible. He said there's "no way to know" how many "illegals" have sent in fraudulent ballots, but he gave a very specific example of how they'd get around the requirements to have either a social security number or a license/state issued id (both of which require a social security number and/or birth certificate to get) that would make it in fact incredibly easy to track. If people are voting with the kind of voter ID number he said they'd get from registering without a social security number, and I'm familiar with this form because I also live in CA and it's included on your regular voter registration form so anyone who's registered to vote here has likely seen it, it still requires you to fill in verifiable information like your name and address, your country of origin and any potential ID number from there that you have in order to get that number. So if there are a number of ballots filled out by people using those temporary voter ID numbers, they should be incredibly easy to single out, I mean they separate provisional and special ballots at the polling place, and whatever system they inevitably scan them into should also be able to sort ballots by categories such as what type of ID was used. It should therefore be entirely possible to see just how many ballots were turned in using temporary voter ID numbers, and from there start going through and verifying the information. If the person didn't give a real name or real contact info, congrats their ballot is invalid and won't be counted. If they did provide valid information but it turns out they don't meet citizenship requirements, congrats their ballot is invalid and won't be counted. If they did provide valid information and they DO meet citizenship requirements, then they _weren't_ an illegal immigrant and they had every right to vote. It's total BS for this guy to say there's no way to know how many illegal immigrants are turning in invalid ballots. We know what a valid ballot should have, so it's a trivial matter to single out the ones that don't have it, especially with the technology we have these days. And I know that this research has been done, which is why there are real statistics on fraudulent votes, he just doesn't like the fact that it's way less than he'd like and that it's pretty much always some American citizen trying to use a dead person's info rather than some poor desperate immigrant or refugee. And you know what, the biggest fraud of this narrative isn't even that "illegals" try to cast fraudulent votes, it's _really_ that the "illegals" are _immigrants._ Most of the "illegals" who come and work here _do not STAY here._ They come across the border to work for a while and then they go BACK to the other side and live and sleep there. It's what they call the "Revolving Door" phenomenon. The people who are here undocumented who want to stay are refugees seeking asylum which is LEGAL so they AREN'T illegal immigrants, they ARE LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. And people who are here because they overstayed their Visas aren't _undocumented_ since they had a Visa, so if they did something stupid like trying to register to vote or turn in a ballot they'd get flagged and deported. And speaking of that, in most places around the US even LEGAL IMMIGRANTS can't vote! This guy is talking about a law that allows undocumented people to vote here in CA where even *legal immigrants* aren't allowed to vote!! He was probably talking about the law that got passed _only in San Fransisco_ that let non-citizens vote in _school board_ elections. One city. In the entire state. Letting non-citizens vote ONLY on the _local_ school board. Yeah, I'm sure that's having a HUGE impact on all ONE of the local elections that has happened since they passed the law in 2015. Considering this video happened in June 2015 I bet even that single election hadn't even happened yet. Ugh, this guy's entire argument is based on a mish mash of misinformation, assumptions, and I'll say it, downright bigotry. I won't accept anyone trying to tell me this shit isn't based on skin color when 65% of _actual_ illegal immigrants are coming from overseas and they're not saying a damn word about that. And he had absolutely no leg to stand on with the idea that citizens shouldn't automatically be put on a list of eligible voters when they're born. If you get assigned your social security number at birth, that's basically what it's doing anyway, it just makes you have to wait 18 years to manually activate some of your rights and hope that nothing happened to your birth certificate like a flood or fire or earthquake or getting it lost in a move or some other shit in the almost _two decades_ you have to wait until you can use it, or that you just happen to have enough money and enough other proof of your identity to order a new one if anything does happen to it. The fact that people like him always skirt around the most efficient ways of taking care of the non-problems they insist are huge problems is just proof that they don't actually want to solve any problems, they just want things to complain about and try to scare people with, and above all they just want to make people jump through hoops to give themselves a power trip and enforce their stupid arbitrary hierarchies all the while singing the praises of meritocracy.

Sure let us have voter id that allows one to register in one place for all elections local, state and federal. It should be implemented over a 10 year period with the government paying all costs. Also the government offering easy door to door solutions for people with paperwork issues. A solution for people who do not have birth certificates etc. After the 10 years voter ID would be required to register. With part of the deal being vote by mail nationally for all elections after the 10 years.

interesting i'm partially in agreement with the caller on one specific point. usa can be such a backwards country. in puerto rico we have a very high electoral participation. and it's very simple. when you turn 18 you can get your electoral card. just fill a form, have a photo, and you're done. with that card you can participate in any electoral event. usa could do that. and the debate would be over.

You are wrong on the SS registration. You said that this will ensure that only american citizens will register to vote. Wrong. Anyone that is a legal resident of the USA, including legal residents but not citizens have to register for SS#. The first thing that a legal resident gets where they received their green card packet is a registration for SS#. So again, SS# registration is a good idea but it does not only register citizens. It registers everyone that is legally able to work in the USA.

There is no law on the any book anywhere that say that you have to vote and there is no law that say you have to vote because it is your civic duty if you vote or not is up to you at this point unless the law change and say if you don't vote in any election you have to we register to vote at the so many elections

Non-citizens voting has become a huge problem, reportedly affecting at least 2 major elections, one being presidential. No, IDs are NOT checked! From the FVAP website... "Your valid California Driver License number OR the last four digits of your Social Security number are required for voter registration. If you do not possess either of these identification numbers, California will assign a number that will serve to identify you for voting purposes only." If this is so, how is it cats & dogs are registered? (Yes, someone has been registering pets, as well as mis-spelled names online!) I've even heard of a goldfish being registered! I contacted the elections office re: a few pet registrations people had received voting materials & in some cases, absentee ballots for their pets. People should be required to bring proof of birth in the US OR naturalization paperwork to register, or if not done at that time, should be flagged to bring them to the polling place. This hasn't been done that I have ever seen, nor have polling place workers in at least Los Angeles, a "Haven" city/ county, thus the numbers of non-citizens voting could be in the millions in that county alone! Yes! We have a big problem! Do California driver's licenses state that the person possessing such a document state that these licenses are issued to non-citizens? I don't know 1st hand, yet I do know of at least one that does not. Social Security cards are issued to people working in the US for tax & other purposes. Just because someone has a SSA card or driver's license does in NO way confirm citizenship! Birth certificates even need to be verified & cross-referenced with SSA numbers because of all the identity theft that goes on. I know few people that haven't had some sort of hacking &/ or identity theft affect them! Someone close to me had to prove she wasn't working a job roughly 200 miles from where she lived & worked full-time, taking care of 2 kids, pregnant, etc. The person using her identity reportedly bought a birth certificate with her name on it, got a driver's license, SSA card, etc., and her tax refund was held up for months while she waited. The person taking her identity was caught, deported & within a couple of weeks, was using her identity AGAIN! This is FAR more common than you'd think! Many of these records are hacked from hospital, government, payroll company & other databases! The woman that took her identity apparently also had her work history from ordering her credit report, and used that to get her job in Los Angeles. This is organized crime, and is a huge problem! It needs to stop! Only we US citizens can stop it! Haven cities & counties often have large populations of illegal aliens. Los Angeles, Salinas, San Francisco & others are prime examples. These people take identities, jobs, housing & other resources from legal US citizens. Databases ARE hacked & information sold to whoever is willing to pay, en mass. Credit cards are run up by these people as well, without victims knowing until after the fact. Ever received a $20,000 credit card bill on a card you only used for a few hundred dollar purchase? Some of us have! A loan application for a home outside of your state? Rental application on the other side of the US? Medical bills for conditions you've never had? Not been able to fill a prescription because someone already had one for the same or a similar medication on your record? All the above happened to just a single person, seemingly not long after a hospital database was hacked into. Obtaining records is difficult once this has occurred & no one will tell this person who did it, so they can't even get the information of who to sue for running up debts on their name, blocking access to medications, healthcare, etc. It goes FAR further than just voting! This is a HUGE problem in the US!

I can not understand why Americans make simple thing so complicated.If you are required to show picture identification to vote the state should be required to supply every citizen with picture ID for free. Were i live we are pre registered to vote. Everyone receives full health care and our state issued health cards have our picture and address. All i need to vote is my voter card (comes in the mail) and my health card. If for some reason i don't receive a voter card for an election i need picture ID a piece of recent mail and proof of citizenship to vote.

Social Security cards are issued to non-Americans who work in the US for tax purposes. Perhaps your caller doesn't know this? Seems Hillary doesn't know this either? Social Security cards are just for taxes, and have nothing to do with citizenship! Why not require a birth certificate? (Although those can be ordered by others, although depending on where they were born, getting these can be far more difficult.) I'm for a birth certificate, or equivalent, requirement. An affidavit with a couple of verified citizens signing, and providing their birth certificate, signing under penalty of purgery that that the person registering is indeed a citizen, their past addresses, parents' names, their citizenship, etc. isn't too much to ask. Most US citizens have a copy of their birth certificate & few would have a problem showing this at registration, or at the polls. Those who home birth & register their children in a family Bible I'm Sue have no problem showing this & having family or friends sign an affidavit. Far too many Illegals have been voting for far too long to simply accept that they've been registered before. Voter fraud in our last elections are at an all-time high. This needs to be reigned in & stopped. Those who have committed voter fraud need to be prosecuted, and if illegally here, or here on a green card, need to be deported. Even those who have been Naturalized, but committed voter fraud should lose their status & be deported, all with a "never to return" status, as with others who come to America simply to break the law. Those who become citizens, then get jobs in government, then discriminate against US citizens, promoting people from their home countries, should also loose their American status & be deported back to where they came from. Los Angeles has many examples of this, and they call Americans ," Stupid!" They come here, take our jobs, them install their own people into the hierarchy, so they Promote their home country people, and Americans are routinely discriminated against, treated like trash, not promoted (especially white, American women, who in their country, even their women's voice is only worth half of a man's voice- less that that in many cases), the city is often used. These people try to move out, and in some cases can, in other cases, they are prevented from doing so, no matter how many times they interview for jobs elsewhere, and continue to be treated like trash. Look at the city of Los Angeles! That's a prime example! Many people from middle eastern countries bring their discriminatory views with them. Personnel calls these issues,"Cultural Differences", but in reality, it is discrimination against Americans, and especially American women! These people don't even recognize certain engineering degrees, as many employees are fed into the system by employees that also teach at area colleges, and if you don't have a degree from that college, or that degree, good luck ever being promoted... Especially if you are a woman engineer with anything other than a "civil engineering" degree, even though you have a superior engineering degree for the jobs you are applying for, and even though it is necessary for the job. The city instead hires consultants, as most of these people sit around doing little, as they don't know what to do, when they have perfectly capable people right in their own offices, yet these people have little, if any, idea the gems they have, and instead waste millions of taxpayers' dollars hiring these consultants, as they drink tea, hang out at the Union Hall, or spend time they are supposed to be working for the city, apparently teaching college classes, then promoting their own students (often from their home country, like Iran & others) to higher positions, often leaving white American women at the bottom. These same people routinely Sue, or at least file BS discrimination, retaliation, etc. complaints in order to get their $100,000+/ year salaries, yet know little about what their job is even about, while Americans held in lower positions, often do the hard work, yet are rarely, if eever, recognized for doing so, and instead are ridiculed for being Americans, and told things such as, "Americans are stupid", " Your government is killing our people", and so on. Something needs to change! Homeland Security needs to look into these criminals.
