@@noirlavender6409 have you tried to actually play the game instead of bitching? Most Puff players get rekt because Puff is actually an easy match to fox, falco and marth (the 3 most played characters on melee). Hbox is just good. He learned how to counter 20XX meta. He deserve his throne.
@@mrm64 which is dumb because it was just Hbox using his stalling tactics that win him every tournament . Armada shouldn't think any less of himself and we are all so proud of him
@@plvto1 you could argue that Leffen is just playing up the whole villain of smash persona he had which I can see. But Wobbles punching the wall is definitely unreasonable though.
@@plvto1 depends why theyre angry. if you consistently get mad over every loss, even if youre respectful about it, its unhealthy. you may not be hurting other people but you can be hurting yourself. i still do think some anger or frustration at oneself every once in a while is warranted. at the end of the day people just need to remember though that its a game
ThatGuyWithGlasses armada lost evo (biggest FGC tourney of the time) to hbox, can’t remember the year. I think that was one of the last major tourneys he played before retiring.
@ThatGuyWithGlasses it was his opportunity to win either his 2nd or 3rd evo I believe. I remember him having soooo many times where he was one good hit away from winning the tournament, but hbox ended up clutching it out. I can't imagine what kind of emotion he went through. Being so close to that victory and yet falling short multiple times.
You guys definitely have the stories mixed up. It was EVO grand finals 2016. Hbox won after resetting the bracket in two game 5 last stock situations. Armada super choked game 5 of the first set and game 4 of the second set, either one of games won would've made him win EVO. Armada was going for a two-peat EVO win, while Hbox got 3rd, 2nd, and 2nd in the three EVOs before. When Hbox won the set, he popped off and started crying on the floor. Armada had to walk over to Hbox to get a fist bump, and after, Hbox kept crying and popping off while Armada just went back to his chair with that look of depression in the clip until it was time for the award ceremony.
@@izzywooperstan That's why I got respect for him; he has the cheap exploit at his disposal, but he doesn't abuse it. Pure skill. Nintendude and Army should take notes. Edit: He also doesn't pull out pictures of salt shakers when he abuses said exploit.
I saw this comment with the new RU-vid update, and I thought that someone hacked my account because it looked similar to the “add a comment” icon. That spooked me lol
s0n4r well then 2019 must have been a rough year since HBox only won one set against Leffen which was SNS but I'm sure HBox could maybe beat Leffen this year since he's been playing pretty good recently and Leffen is the God of choking this year
I understand feeling crestfallen and sometimes even hopeless when you lose at this competitive level, but if you act childish, lash out physically or just throw the match early, you deserve to be laughed at by the guys in the box and everyone else. This isn't just in Melee either, this applies across all competitions. Being a bad loser (and even a bad winner) deserves no respect.
Id be surprised if that dude or the smash community gets invited back by the host again. Ruin your own image but dont bring the community's down with you.
Ok So I know now. This is Marth's sword dance's fourth attack (holding down). Surprisingly I've never seen it being used before. Certainly not used that much by Zain. This is the only time I've noticed this move in professional melee.
Marths side special, he held down to do a triple poke over the standard slash. Cool to see it used in tournament play, never seen that before (discounting people using the first swing for aerial delays)
Yeah kinda. U mean cus he's toxic? I mean, I can "kinda" understand him, but if he gets four stocked, he should probably learn the Match up, Instead of being disrespectful.
@@Hardrian_Hardrada_Cicero I'm not sure if it's actually happened, but knowing how some people can be I'd be more surprised if it hasn't or if it has. I wouldn't expect it at a Smash tournament, or at least not any non-local tournaments, but some competitive scene has probably seen a fistfight.
Actually, I've got one worse than a fist fight. I think during a local Madden tournament someone lost and decided that grabbing a gun he had in his vehicle and trying to threaten/shoot the guy who won would be a good idea. The full details are hazy but I know it happened a few years ago.
What was the deal with that Wobbles clip where he punched the wall at Summit? Was losing one stock in a crew battle* really something to get that upset about? Especially when you're tied and Plup is on deck? * It was technically a tiebreaker for some events they had at Summit, but I'm still not sure why it's something to get so angry about.
He's known to have some anger issues with the game, part of why he switched to just being a commentator. He's really skilled, but doesn't have the mental. Still glad he's in the scene though. I mean he's got the most iconic/controversial move of his character named after him.
It sucks that some people dont have as much sportsmanship as others, but you can’t hold that against them cus for pros, this game means the world to them and to lose and so many people watching, it’s actually more common for someone to lash out. I’m not defending toxicity, I just understand it
Tbh I love all these players. Even Leffen. It’s competition, these guys are at the peak of a very demanding sports skill and competition level. Things get heated, it happens. Doesn’t make anyone a bad person. Shit talk is normal in highly competitive sports too. Don’t know why we have to judge them as terrible people just because they express themselves different under that kind of pressure. Hbox had to push through A LOT to be the top dog he’s become, I can believe him being as emotional as he comes across. Same with Armada.
The armada hbox evo sets both years shows the difference in their characters. Hbox loses he gets excited for armada. Armada loses he pouts in his chair until they kick him off the stage. But yet the community calls hbox an asshole. I mean puff is bullshit and boring but hbox is a good guy.
Exaaaaactly! I said the same damn thing. I get it is a lot harder for Armada to make it to tourneys because he lives in Europe, I totally get it. And I understand losing Evo.. but damn man, Hbox been through a lot of shit, even before Melee. Yet look how he handles losing Evo 2013-2015. I won't judge it all because Hbox has obviously been pouty before(losing Apex 2013 to Armada as an example), as I'm sure we all would at some point. Both Hbox and Armada worked hard. But people need to stop shitting on Hbox like this.
There are plenty of examples of Armada losing grands and being graceful about it/happy for his opponent: he smiled and seemed excited for M2K at summit, he smiled & hugged Plup when he beat him for the first time, was excited for Leffen after losing to him at Evo 2018... and he's hugged and expressed excitement for Mango about a million times. I don't think it's fair to say that he has a poor character, or that he was pouting and being immature. I think that he was deeply saddened by his performance and extremely disappointed with himself, as he held himself to such crazy high standards when it came to melee... it's not a reflection of how he feels about Hbox or any personal resentment. In fact, unlike many top players, Armada's always been kind to Hungrybox and doesn't throw shade at him.
@@katiieeardley I was using that as an example. I like armada. I don't think he has bad sportsmanship or anything. It was more just using the example in this video.
Imagine expecting a fistbump after beating your chest like a stupid fucking ape at the same guy. Hbox is literally a child, that's all I'm getting from a majority of these compilations on YT (Not that I think Leffen's a saint I've been told he's basically Melee's heel)
It's their job bro, they fly to these events and have to place well in order to break even in terms of food and lodging. Now imagine you lose in a bs way or people shittalk when you're tired and hungry and greasy from a weekend of grinding, I'd get tilted too
