Anguirus may be much weaker than most other kaiju, but he deserves all the respect for his ability to power through the punches and survive, never backing down from a fight even though he's got his ass handed to him many times. It's probably why Godzilla likes him tbh, he's got a gut to match his own.
Anguirus is a true underdog he is the definition of it anyone who says underdogs always win clearly never heard of anguirus. Despite after what anguirus has gone through he's still well loved for his determination and never give up brave attitude that's what a true underdog is about it's not about winning its about never giving up and fighting till the end even if it kills you if you know you won't win then lose with style go out fighting and earn everyone's respect despite you lost.
Anguirus not dying from his battle with MechaGodzilla is very impressive. He probably has strong regeneration. Watching that scene where he gets his jaw broken is still uncomfortable to me to this day. As a kid it made me very sad.
If you guys watch Godzilla King Of The Monsters trailer 2 you can see a moving mountain and in the comments there was people saying its Anguirus. Who knows? Maybe Legendary secretly got the rights to Anguirus and to suprise us in the actual movie.Anguirus could be motion capture.
I like Anguirus because he is smaller than Godzilla, and doesn't have a ranged attack that really causes significant damage. Yet he is strong enough and tenacious enough to be a match for Godzilla.
Actually, Anguirus is BIGGER than Godzilla. At least in the Showa Era, where he's listed as 60 meters tall to Godzilla's 50 meters. ;) I believe they're both listed as 100 meters in Final Wars. :)
A kaiju that definitely should be included in the MonsterVerse. My guess is that Anguirus in the Monsterverse is a species of Titan that has a symbiotic relationship (specifically, mutualism) with Godzilla and Mothra in prehistoric times. He is currently held in a Monarch containment unit in Siberia, and Monarch had also identified Anguirus as the inspiration for the Tarasque from medieval French mythology (just like King Ghidorah being the inspiration for the Greek Hydra and Australian Rainbow Serpent and Godzilla being the inspiration for many sea monster sightings). Although he is known to be friendly towards Godzilla and Mothra, he views Rodan and King Kong as rivals and he has a deep hatred towards King Ghidorah and Gigan (should King Ghidorah return and Gigan get included in the MonsterVerse).
Nicholas Lienandjaja Well his skeleton made it into KOTM, he may show up in the future of the Monsterverse. Either potentially in a prequel movie something like Godzilla BC or just in a future film.
This character deserves to be one of the biggest Godzilla stars. It is shameful how many times he has been rejected and forgotten about in newer movies.
Rexytherexdude It's not a question of whether or not it would work, Anguirus is undoubtedly the easiest Toho Kaiju, besides Rodan, to fit into the Legendary MonsterVerse. It's a legality issue. Legendary CAN'T use him because they don't currently have the licensing rights, AFAIK, and it's unlikely that Toho will want to extend the current licensing deal beyond the 2020 deadline since they have plans of their own starting in 2021. So, as things stand now, as much as I'd love to see Anguirus in a Legendary MonsterVerse film because he's one of my all time favorites, I'm pretty sure it ain't ever gonna happen. Godzilla vs Kong will be the Legendary MonsterVerse's swan song and Godzilla and friends will head back home to Japan. :)
Anguirus is easily my second-favourite Kaiju, after Godzilla. Such a simple design, yet so effective. I also like his "character" being loyal and tenacious. But, as a child I never really notice the backwards bend hind legs and now I can't unsee how incredible awkward this looks.
It could even be an unspecified scar, just something he always has. Could even throw in the concept of weaponized radiation breath sorta similar to Godzilla's as a further nod to the the cooperation the two have and how their species shared the same environment.
Id imagine Destroyah, Mechagodzilla, Anguirus, and jet Jaguar (imagine him in pacific rim's style) have a decent chance of getting into the monsterverse

I like to think of Anguirus as a sort of brother type figure to Godzilla mostly because of his undying loyalty to the Monster King and his willingness to fight for Godzilla.
I always thought it was strange that Anguirus was so often portrayed as a quadruped, but the way the actor moves in the suit makes him look like a biped crawling on his hands and knees.
I love Anguirus so much I just so happy that the Monsterverse Continues and Legendary will add him in the Monsterverse along with Gigan, Destoroyah, Titanosaurus, Biollante, Gamera, Varan, Orga, Rhedosaurus, and others
I really wished that they would have stuck with baragon, anguirus, and varan for GMK mostly because those are the little runt monsters ,and they have never been in such a huge role ever since there debut film since then they have just been little side monsters in films. Yeah they are in comics and such but like that really ain't the same as a big budget film.

That book made the bizarre error of believing "Gigantis" was an original monster created for the movie and was female for some reason. The actual movie _Gigantis, the Fire Monster_ does refer to "Gigantis" as "he" in dialogue.
Minilla isn't Godzilla's biological child. He's a juvenile member of Godzilla's species that Godzilla adopted as his son. The same applies to Junior from the Heisei series.
Well, he usually has to fight some of the bigger monsters like Ghidorah and Gigan. Monsters like Ebirah or any of the other less common Kaiju are probably bigger underdogs then Anguirus will ever be

I like that Godzilla didn’t kill Rodan,Ceasar or Anguirus. He would never kill his friends. (Plus he possibly didn’t kill Komunga, who also is sorta an ally)
I may need to watch Final Wars again, but I could swear Godzilla fried the trio after stomping them into a pile. I mean, G was absolutely ruthless in that film. Maybe I'm getting their scene mixed up with something else.
I always had a soft spot for Anguirus. I was introduced to him through the Atari games and had no idea he was known for being a weak monster and always getting his ass kicked. So I often selected him and kicked everyone's ass as Anguirus.
Anguirus has been and still is one of my favorite monsters. Up there with the big G. He is in my top 4 “ captain it’s the Angueanus !” “ what ?!!?” Me ; “ Wait come again? “
What I think would be really amazing in the Monsterverse would be if Anguirus eventually shows up and Godzilla drops what he's doing to haul ass towards him. Everyone freaks out thinking Godzilla considers Anguirus a threat, but when the two meet, they basically give each other a hug (or the DaiKaiju equivalent) like two long lost friends who finally met up after many years apart. It could follow that the Anguirus species and the Godzilla species don't share a literal symbiotic relationship like Godzilla and Mothra, but more of a beneficial co-operation.
Anguirus is one of the strongest monsters in my opinion. He got sawed in his face-, his jaw almost broke, he got shot by a million of bullets, he almost get crushed and he gets dropped from a million feet high. He still doesn't give up and stop fighting. And that's why he's my favourite kaiju anyway.
That pronunciation always irritated me. Same with the English Dub for Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2 pronouncing Rodan as "Radon".(aka: Rodan's Japanese name)

Every time I see this creature, i always picture Mechagodzilla pulling his mouth apart nearly ripping his face in half...watching that scene as a kid never leaves you.
I wish we would have gotten that alternate GMK with Angurius, Baragon, and Varan. I like the usual monsters like Mothra, Mechagodzilla etc….however wish they would try something different sometime.
Maybe in the MonsterVerse, Anguirus is one the "Protector" Titans, like Mothra, Godzilla and Kong. Maybe they'll do the same with other Toho Kaiju, like King Caesar, Titanosaurus, Sanda, Minilla and other guardian monsters. Maybe keeping the meaner monsters in line. Like Zilla, Kumonga, Kamacuras, Megagurius, Gaira, Megalon, Rodan, etc. Maybe have some neutral monsters like Varan, Manda, Gorosaurus and Baragon.
I'll probably be salty 'til the end of my days that Anguirus and Varan got dropped from GMK in favor of showing us the same monsters we've seen a dozen times already. Along with Baragon they would have been the perfect trio of earth guardians.
I legit will never understand how Ghidorah, who is ALWAYS a villain, was cast as a guardian of Earth in place of established heroic Kaiju like Anguirus. I love GMK, but dang, what were they thinking?
Anguirus, Varan, and Baragon would be great together on screen as a team. I'd love to see Anguirus back in action using its spiked shell and tail, Varan utilizing those spikes and on land sea and use the temporary gliding, and Baragon burrowing underground coming to the surface.
Final Wars has definetely my favorite Anguirus design. The colors, the club on the tail and the Anguirus Ball ability are just so cool & badass. I really hope that any future incarnations of Anguirus (maybe for the Monsterverse...Please?) will take after the Final Wars design.
I like him more a lot than Mothra and almost as much as Godzilla and Rodan. So it's a shame he doesn't get much love-Final Wars was basically a cameo (like all the kaiju except for Godzilla, Minya, Mothra, Gigan and Ghidorah)
Anguirus is EASILY one of the top under used Kaiju in the monsterverse! One of my favorites as a kid - still one of my favorities today! THANK YOU for this video!
Anguirus best boy. Hope he is portrayed positively if he makes an appearance in future films. I like the idea of him being Godzilla's wingman who could come out of nowhere.

I want a buddy cop film with Godzilla and Anguirus. Anguirus being the newcomer who's all bright eyed, naive, inexperienced but eager to see justice done and prove himself. Godzilla being the jaded veteran who's got a lot of praise for his work but his cynical and a tad ruthless in his work as he's seen the dark side of the job. Obviously the two start out at odds but over time they become close, almost like brothers. Anguirus maintains his perseverance but recognizes that he's gotta be a lot more forceful to get things done as being the good guy doesn't mean you gotta play nice, and Godzilla may maintain his wisdom and cunning but he's learned to temper it and see that good can exist in what they do.
I still think he’d have been a great fit for the monsterverse, especially when it was more grounded and serious with 2014 and to a lesser extent kong. But they basically went full showa with kotm and gvk, so anything’s game really. I’d still love to see him even if it’s just a minor role
