Yeah I just want a big upgrade update with every building getting new looks and areas to explore with iconic characters from older games showing up on your island to stay and the eventual last unlock after doing everything being a resident services upgrade that expands the plaza and adds the big tree from new leaf
I definitely very much agree that an observatory with Celeste would be positively divine! However, I do not believe that we will see an update this big as it has already been announced that Animal Crossing New Horizons is a relativity finished game, but there could very well be new bug fixes and tinier adds.
What's bananas to me, is that the last major update (the "final" one) was MASSIVE. So much new content, fixes, and quality of life changes. But, there's still aspects of the game that are worse than previous games. The villagers being happy and polite 24/7 is the most talked about one. But for me, the lack of shops is what annoys me the most. I know Harv's Island has like, all of the missing shops, but I'd much rather be able to build and place an actual shop for each one on my actual island. I tried my best to make a 'shopping district' early on, thinking I'd unlock more than just Nook's Cranny and Able Sister's. So I kinda had to make do with what I could. Set 'em up, set a path, put a fountain and decorations around so it didn't look so empty. I was legit PLANNING to make a whole like, mini city block off in the corner of my island. But that idea went out the window the instant I found out that's ALL the shops I was getting.
I would love to have a green house. Then I would have storage for flowers, shrubs, trees, and crops when I’m cleaning up my island. And maybe just maybe make getting hybrids easier
yes, we definitely need an UPDATE in which they could add a LOT of (already existing) features : Gracie Grace and ALL of her furniture sets, Nook's Cranny upgrade, all the previous fruits (banana, lemon, mango, durian, litchi, persimmon, grapes + perfect fruits) hence more crafting and cooking DIYs, the ability to have all the rooms of our house in 8x8 size, all the previous furniture sets (ex : modern wood,...), the giant sized furniture (from Happy Home Designer), the ore's mechanic, Tortimer island (or multi player minigames island ;) ), more types of fences and more customization options for our houses's exterior (castle architecture, sweets exterior,...etc), the different Crossovers (Zelda, Splatoon, Monster Hunter,...) and the Nintendo items, the previous NPC's (the Pelicans, Digby, Dr Shrunk, GRACIE (again),...), more than 10 villagers who could live in our island, more whimsical items (shaved ice lamp,...) and many items from Pocket Camp,.....and so on. Quiet an exhaustive list, in case Nintendo lacks inspiration ;)
Yeah honestly, my biggest hope for an update is just to add in more stuff. Just, more. Like, the stuff you've said, stuff that was in previous games, or even in NH itself but not accessible. The ability to make every room bigger. Upgrade storage even more because why not? It'd also be super nice if bugs, fish, and unknown fossils could stack (it won't happen, but it'd be nice). Even like, I have a modded Switch. I can install mods. But even installing mods to add new items and things usually just replaces existing items, which I'd prefer not to do. There's mods to add a bunch of home designer decorations to the main game, but again, they end up replacing other items, which means I'm not getting MORE stuff, I'm just swapping stuff.
The biggest problem I see with ACNH as a software developer is load times---I feel like the designers might've made a mistake in how assets get loaded into memory, so every time there's a change in what assets are and aren't supposed to exist in the game world (i.e. each time a player leaves or arrives at an island) EVERY Switch needs to reload ALL the assets. That's annoying, and probably would be a super-large chore to fix, but what shouldn't be that large a chore is adding more assets to the game: more clothing, more furniture, the ability to play the arcade games that you buy...the list goes on. Making rooms larger is another big plus.
@longWriter I think the issue with the load times is the processing power of old generation technology. Regarding loading, it’s likely only references to characters that will be transferred between switch’s. The models will all be copied and loaded on a Nintendo server, creating a reference to the island they are visiting. It’s not loaded on someone else’s Switch. The visitors and host then only updates Player position and communicates between server and console. So I think it’s as optimal as it can be, it’s just hardware limitations.
Update. I worry about adding new buildings to an island that has limited space anyway, but adding expansions to already existing buildings could work and wouldn't take up extra room on the island itself. So, an observatory for Celeste in the museum or an expansion to the two shops could be good!
I know the islands are small, but I still want an individual store building for each of the shops on Harv's Island. Early on when I first started the game, and didn't know much about it, I had PLANNED to make a whole shopping area on the northern part of my island. Something like New Leaf had with it's Main Street. A designated area I could go to to shop. But then I found out pretty quick that I really only get Nook's Cranny and Able Sister's, and was super disappointed, and had to rework the plan to make it more of a nice little cozy area in the top left corner. Little gardens next to each one with fences, a public fountain with benches, some flowers/bushes/trees, etc. I mean, in the end, my shopping area still LOOKS nice, but it's not what I actually wanted. Even if I could just move the people from Harv's Island, and just keep them with whatever they had, instead of a full building, I could deal with that. Set 'em up in the shopping area, and put some stalls and things around to make it look like an outdoor shopping area.

Bruh...there's one batch of items that really shatters the kneecaps of this notion: Nintendo *DID NOT* add in the 2023 celebratory arch or any other 2023 themed stuff when New Year's Eve 2022/New Year's Day 2023 rolled around, like they normally would.

One thing I really want for an Update would be to be able to change the appearance of our house like we had in New Leaf. We got a castle, a zen palace, and a modern house. more choices aside from this would be nice too
I'm a software developer myself, so here's my perspective of one of the things they should do differently with Animal Crossing: You know how, whenever anyone joins your island, the gameplay stops, and everyone has a loooooong loading screen? That's everyone's Switch, re-loading ALL the assets that are on your island or inside the inventory of ANY of the players who're on the same island. That _shouldn't_ be necessary: all the assets on the island are already in the memory of most of the Switches of most of the players; when a new player arrives, then _only_ the newbie's Switch should need to stop the gameplay to load those oodles and oodles of assets already on the island. The rest of the players' Switches shouldn't need to stop gameplay; they should have a background process that _just_ loads the assets of any incoming players into memory. It'd be a _major_ quality-of-life improvement if ACNH had those background processes so that joining islands was easier, but they might've made a mistake in how assets are loaded into memory for ACNH that _requires_ these long loading times...
It's been long enough - they could very well have a new game ready. The new console is almost certainly around the corner, and Animal Crossing would be a pretty good game for the first year of the console.
I would absolutely love to see travel to another island that I could develop. We already have the transport so I don't see why this can't be done, either by plane or boat. Expansion of my current island would be great too, maybe paying bells to extend. I have felt from the beginning that the island is too small, as there are so many different things you can create just not enough room. Been playing for just over a year and I still love it!!!
Would absolutely love a new update/DLC and would definitely love a video about what you'd like to see in an update. I started playing in 2020 and still find myself firing it up every so often, even without updates, as it definitely induces a level of Zen I don't find in many games.

My theory is they are either re releasing it for switch 2 that’s remastered and has QOL updates. Or it’ll be a brand new game as a release title for the switch 2.
Making our side rooms as big as the first floor main room, (and yes, I've paid off my loan in full, the side rooms are all semi-medium sized compared to the first floor main room) bigger mail storage, and bring back all the missing items and amiibo villagers missing in the first 3 games and New Leaf respectively. It is **CRIMINAL** to not have as much as the basic items and features that have been in all of the previous games and for some reason taking them out in New Horizons...
Update. I would also love to see your wishlist and a breakdown of things they could still add to the game. One thing I would love to see in either a new game or an update is a greater variety in my villagers interactions on the island. Right now, they mostly stand around and work out. Would be fun if they could interact more with things or maybe just do more different things like they do in happy home paradise. Would make it more fun designing your island and make it feel more alive and cozy.
If we do get an update I hope they'll add a way to get the other fruits that aren't your native/sister fruit, I'm just stuck with cherries and pears and I've been trying to find someone to give me the other 3 but with no luck, even Mori's discord hasn't helped
@@21cormorants Nope you can only ever get your regular fruit or sister fruit on mystery islands both nook miles tickets and Cap'n islands, the fruit are the only things you NEED online for I have online but I've never used Nookazon before so I don't know how?
Same here. I'm also stuck with Cherries(my Island's native fruit), and Pears. I think I did also get Apples somehow, but, I'm still missing Oranges and Peaches.. New fruits would be nice too like Lemons, Durians, Dragonfruit, and Blueberries to name a few.
@@jonathanbaenziger3182 Well if we get new fruits they'd have to grow from trees so blueberries wouldn't work unless they added berry shrubs but I kinda doubt it, but New Leaf did have add tropical fruits being Lemons, Lychees, Mangos, Durians and Persimmons along with a banana variant of palm trees which I'm surprised didn't come back in NH
I hope they make a feature where you can just kick villagers out without having to wait so longgg! Like a feature at Isabelle’s or something where she talk to them about moving.
UPDATE I left the AC community after the New Horizons release brought in a boon of bizarrely toxic behavior but I'm so glad to see that Mayor Mori is still providing regular updates on AC news. I remember when this channel was much smaller and I'm glad to know that there still seems to be what feels like an innocent desire to play a community based game freely and excitedly left out there. :)

I will say if there was one thing i wanted in animal crossing, it would be more crossovers, especially pokemon, i love pokemon so much so it would he great to see both of my favorite games in one
This will not happen, people can dream all they want, but this is just absolutely unrealistic, they have no more reason to come back and update the game unless it’s a paid update. They understand how angry people got about the game and they just want to forget it
While I am open to the possibility of New Horizons getting another update, I personally think the team will focus more on releasing another game for the next console. I mean, while it’s not perfect, the game already has a lot of features and QoL improvements, and it’s been a while since they’ve released any major updates for the game. Again, I do think it’s possible, but I just don’t see it happening.

As much as I’d love a new update, I just can’t think of what they’d do. Apart from adding some new villagers, DIYs, items, etc. theres really nothing else I can think of… Until now! EVENTS: Animal Crossing New Horizons has plenty of in-game events like the upcoming Toy Day (Christmas) and also hosts little things like New Years countdown or fireworks nights in August. But what if they gave us (since, y’know, we’re basically in charge of the island) the opportunity to create and hold our own events! A friend’s birthday but they live far away? Why not set up the plaza with a raffle and a BBQ and a surprise guest It sounds a bit stupid, I know, but it’d be much easier for having in-game parties or concerts or celebrations. Maybe you just feel like watching some fireworks but can’t be bothered to time travel to August. MINI GAMES: This one speaks for itself, Nintendo, we want some mini games Ok that’s all I can possibly think of right now…

Or maybe (like me) they're the kind of person who feels really horrible when the villagers complain about the player leaving forever and how it was really mean and cruel of the player to do that, when in reality, that person just wanted some interesting fireworks show dialogue out of the villagers.
IMO, I believe Nintendo should consider another major update on this game and add another DLC following HAPPY HOME PARADISE. It is time they could finally get a lazy or big sister wolf villager, or bring back Tarou from the Japanese-only ANIMAL FOREST e+ whom was the only jock wolf villager to ever exist in the series. It’s one of the fastest-selling games and most socially-interactive and creative games in the world.
I'd love to see your hopes for an update. I wish Wisp could give you his lamp from New Leaf along with more fruit and nook miles along with the observatory and some form of new shops or past NPC reincorporated into the game.
I'd like there to be a way that once you get terraforming you can access the full inventory of items. So that you don't have go to Treasure Islands to find items you need. I'd like to have the freedom to design an island with all the items I need at my fingertips so I can make it look exactly the way I want.
I would love a 3.0. Dream list would be a museum update to add a room for Celeste across from the roost (maybe let us donate the celestial furniture in an observatory) a 3rd expansion for nooks and a top floor to ables where label Gracie and kicks could rotate selling their stuff
we have more hope for a new animal crossing game than we do an update. Its also only been two years since a big dlc release which means its incredibly unlikely that it will be anything within the next year at least. All they are doing is milking the monetary gain

I actually want them to add way more furniture and diys BUT make them hard to aquire. I personally love the giant robot we needed to craft because it was hard to do. This gave me purpose. I hate the cheating island people made and ruining the stock market. What good is a rare item if it isn't rare. I wish they would fix this so people "actually" wanna trade for real and make items feel even more valueble. Jaut me i guess
Honestly, I'm not holding out hopes for an update. BUT, I also can't say I'd be surprised if there is one. Personally, the things I'd like to see in an update, would be, well, FIRST thing would be to fix the few actual issues I have with New Horizons. First being that there really should be a tool quality after Gold that doesn't break, or Gold itself shouldn't break considering how much work it is to get them. The second would be to add an ordinance or something, to keep shops open ALL night. Some of us simply don't have the ability to play games throughout the day because we're busy, and play at night instead....meaning we can't shop. At best we can still sell things, but at a lower price. The third thing, would be to have an optional thing (maybe as a free DLC or something?) to make villagers less happy and nice all the time. I do like the cozy chill vibe, but, I'd like at least some feeling or realism with the characters. They really only have a few moods, happy being the main one. Occasionally they're sick or upset, but they're still not usually mean or really ACTING upset. I just want my villagers to be mad sometimes, or pissed off at a specific other villager, or jealous and petty and stuff. Gimme a tiny bit of drama sometimes. Other than those 3 fixes, I want the usual. More STUFF. More clothing, more furniture, more shops, more custom design slots, more everything. Take some of those shops they added to Harv's Island, and allow us to fund and build a full shop for them on our island. I'd love to have an individual shop for each one, and make a full on city area on my island. Allow us to use the decorator mode outside, to make outside building and ground design placement easier (I mean, the function already exists in your house, as well as at your 'job', so I can't imagine it'd be a ton of work to just add the functionality into the construction mode app or something).

I want new fruit trees to plant and some kind of series of mini games to distract you from island building so you can keep playing after you get bored. Like the Wii sports games like sword fighting, plane flying. It is supposed to be a relaxing island getaway afterall
I think if anything they'll pull a "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" kind of deal with Animal Crossing and their next console. Re-release Animal Crossing New Horizons as a "deluxe" game that includes everything from the original but with additional features players desperately wanted.

While I'm open to an update, I think expecting one to happen at this point is completely delusional. Nintendo said it was the final update and that hasn't changed since. If we were to get an update, we would be counting on a miracle. People gotta accept that the game has no updates left and just hope for what the next game will bring.
Would definitely be up for a new UPDATE for my all time favorite cozy game. There are a lot of games of this basic sort out there right now but nothing soothes my soul like ACNH. It’s the most chill game I’ve ever played and I’ve got over 3000 hours into the game and HHP. I would not mind at all a paid DLC. Just give us more. New dialogue, Celeste’s observatory, new shops, new items, new flowers or trees even. Anything we could use to decorate our islands with. What would really be cool is 4th tier terraforming, items in the rivers and ponds, and for Gods sake crafting multiple items at a time. Bring on more ACNH.
Please prove me wrong - but I'm very skeptical about any more content on New Horizons because: #1 IF it's still selling by the thousands, why does it need improvements in terms of sales? Nintendo are still absolutely coasting on this, even though loads of previous features are missing and many fans are horribly disappointed and bored with the current edition. #2 If the rumours are correct about the e-shop and switch games being compatible with the new console, there's a pretty good shot of the next game being released 2026-28. Other rumours suggest that the next console has been ready for sale for a while, Nintendo isn't releasing it because they want enough stock to stump the scalpers - and this might be the one time that Nintendo breaks its trend of releasing a console with only games for the hardcore Nintys. Watch what happens Pokemon Day (27 Feb) because if more content is scheduled for the switch, we will still unlikely see any more content for the switch. If however new content is scheduled for the new console, we may be looking at a new console new game release likely to be unveiled either late this year or early next year. Based on the fact we are halfway through Feb now and the new console still has not been unveiled, my money is on content for the switch, many people guessing leaks of Johto and Unova based content. My guess is the new console is going to be unveiled soon, because even the retail stores are no longer selling physical copies of new switch games... They've stopped taking them for trade-ins too. If Nintendo follows its previous trends with Animal Crossing of one game per console - we will not see another game or content for the switch. They will likely want a new game on the new console to boost sales. If we do see some updates for NH, hoping to see Gracie, some more events like the wedding event at Harvey's (because honestly it's just a total waste of game design as it is), a whole load more seasonal recipes (such as the garlands that appear in Nook's Cranny) Some more furniture to complete the sets previously released (most crafted sets are missing beds or storage items example the pumpkin series)
Sorry, but this isn’t happening. Also when new leaf released im pretty sure Nintendo never said that there would be no more major content updates. In the 2.0 trailer, they say that the 2.0 update is going to be the LAST major free content update. Sure, maybe they will release an update that includes some small little additions like they did in Summer 2021, but if they haven’t updated the game in 2 years and have kept their word, I do not see this happening.
It is scary how ACNH was JUST on my mind all of 1 hour ago and already RU-vid is suggesting this! It might be time for yet another 1,000 hours invested in the game! Would love an update or expansion

Well, currently, Elina is peppy, Flash is cranky (HE WILL RETURN AS A SMUG VILLAGER; I JUST KNOW IT!!!!), Carmen is snooty, Woolio is a jock, Rollo is lazy, Liz is sweet/normal, Chuck is cranky, and Jane is snooty. You don't know what'll happen to them or their personalities in the future. None of us do.

I'm calling it: New Horizons won't get an update but the next game will be Newer Horizons which will just be New Horizons with all its updates already there and all the other updates we wanted for New Horizons will be added to that instead.
A few things have me doubt we will get an update. 1. Development time in relation to asset fidelity, if they are going to spend time working on and perfecting furiniture models, why release them for free when they could make bank on a new installment? Considering the development team doesn't do crunch time they need to work with corporate to strategize how to avoid it. 2. The restructuring of how assets are loaded into the game (assuming the next one is in development, probably using a rasterized rendering algorithm) is likely their highest priority after seeing how an island full of furniture lags the game and ruins the experience for a lot of players, if this is something that will be fixed then it's better to work with the console designers to see what the hardware improvements will be. 3. Mario Kart Tour is no longer getting new content, and Pocket Camp might be soon to follow (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe booster pass might be an indication of whats to come). If all the furniture from Pocket Camp will be transferred to a mainline game without micro transactions, this alone would be big enough to consider putting it in the next installment instead of updating New Horizons to make up for the loss of mobile sales.

v3.0, not happening, also pretty sure that team is focused on Splatoon 3 longevity. ACNH Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch sequal. That I can see happening to get an AC game on the console asap to boost sales early on to get a player base larger than the wii u had early on. I also think Nintendo are now aware that AC spin-offs don't draw the attention they want, and backward compatibility to ACNH with a free update doesn't boost Nintendos finances.
From a business pov, they have no interest in giving us everything we want with updates if the next game is already in the making. People will buy the next one hoping it has what's lacking in acnh !
