Might be starting to hinder his performance. There is a point where muscle size can start to impede range of motion. Some of his fills are a tad rough for him.

I think that's least impressive part of it tho...he's just playing quads. It's not that hard to do. On the other hand all the polyrhythmic and odd time stuff that he does is just insane

@@UnrealFacepalmer the impressive part is the timing and feel itself, not the technique. Also the fact that Javier and Tosin were both keeping amazing time during that 🤯

@@Proghead88 They're all playing to a click track so that's what keeps Javier and Tosin's chugs in time while Matt can literally do what ever he wants as long as he knows how many bars he's allowed to do that for. Assuming you've heard Dancers To A Discordant System by Meshuggah, that's also how they pull off the guitar intro.

@@TunnelJumper I'm very well aware of all that. My point was that the feel they gave it beyond the perfect notes on a grid is what I enjoyed the most. That's very tough to do while still staying to the click and not sounding stiff. Long story short, they're really good at playing to a click track and making it sound natural.

If you aren't familiar already, The Omnific is kinda the increase of AAL. Two bass, drums, no guitar. Super good. Not as crazy rhythmically but still awesome prog metal.

Not extra frets as much as the longer scale length on the bass strings helps with the intonation and tension and similarly, but in reverse, the same thing with the shorter scale length on the trebles. It makes for a more uniform feel and playability across all the strings and is really only needed for tunings well below the standard, hence the term extended range. It avoids the sort of hassle that tuning a 24 3/4" scale guitar down a 4th or 5th involves. I probably sound like a dick but I'm a lovely bunch of guys really.
