Thank you a lot - I'm glad you find them so useful,. For sure that encourages me to create more of them. Even after all this time, I can always find something new and useful in krita. When I'll find another thing worth talking about, I'll try to make a video about it as well ;)
@@wojtryb I'm not sure how interesting it might be because I haven't done much digging on it myself yet, but there is a brush engine that allows you to use filters like brushes. And you can apply them in different blending modes, so it has a double effect. I usually use them for final touches, but maybe you could find out more interesting uses for them and come up with some interesting brushes. You don't have to, it's just like a thought =)
That sounds like an idea for a video :D thank you, I didn't knew about anything like that. I still haven't dig into other brush engine either, do maybe that's a good place to search for new workflow ideas. If I find something interesting there maybe I'll decide to do another video. But for now I just need to get better at creating those animated stamps, as I'm sure I haven't reached even a small part of it's true potential ;)
hi, I was wondering what we could do when the GIH file has no thumbnail? The brush is working perfectly, but it just didnt have those brush outlines whenever you use said brush :(
Do you know if it's possible to use the original colors of the imported layers? I'm using Color Image as Brush Mode, but it looks like it only supports grayscale?
Looks like you have understood Krita Brush system well. Can you please make a video explaining it. As Krita tutorials are less available. I am always searching for a good tutorial which explains 1. Krita Layer -styles- *Blending Modes* and where they can be used? and 2. Krita Brush engine. Please look into it in your free time.
I haven't really used layer styles too much, and don't really plan to make s video about them, but I think that some tutorials on brush engines and brush creation are quite likely.
@@wojtryb 😅 Sorry. I mean Layer *Blending Modes* , Krita has many, compared to photoshop. And their common usage. For example for Shadow, Glow etc... which Blend mode is used. and Possible, Per Blend Mode, use cases.
@@Endangereds Ah, yeah - these are more of a material for video :) But also not a one to be done anyday soon - I have to admit I nearly don't use those in my illustrations at all, so I can't share much experience about them at this point.
Thanks wojtryb. I created the rooftop tile brush and helped a lot in creating a painting I was doing of an old rooftop. You have a great understanding of the mechanics of Krita. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
Oh, I'm glad you found it useful. I haven't used it much since I made this particular artwork to be honest. But it's a great tool, and got way faster between krita 4 and 5 - I should have some more fun with it once again :)
Would you happen to know if there's a way to achieve similar effects in a Photoshop brush as with the Krita animated brush where it creates a random sequence of predefined shapes?
Unluckily no - the feature comes from GIMP and has only a very few options to pick from (and no way od adjusting it). If there was a way to override those settings in a brush and make it a usual krita output, then it would be possible to do this sort of stuff, as there is a "perspective" input in the brush engine. I guess more people would have to start to create and use animated brushes to ask developers to add a feature like this.
@@wojtryb Somehow I feel this is unlikely. I'll see how far I can push this technique with 3D assets combined. Maybe I'll take a look at some of the documentation on this feature.
