Best to worst portrayal 1. Nicole Jaffe: Character Development (She relates to Velma) 2. B.J. Ward: Character Improvement (I love her take on Velma) 3. Mindy Cohn: Character Depth (I miss her portrayal of Velma's personality) 4. Kate Micucci: Character Derailment/Flanderization (I hate her portrayal so much since she took over)😡🖕
I don't think it's the voices that is truly contentious but the content and context of the newest show that seems to dedicate on the previous 50 years just to self insert and push ideology. How does an IP that is made for children now for adults but the show is still following teens in a sexual nature that is unnecessary to what the show should be about.
Kate Micucci was not good to me AT FIRST, being too quirky and fast in Be Cool Scooby Doo, but that was mainly due to the character designs looked off so she had to sound that way. I am still for the LIFE of me trying to figure out who thought THAT change was even a good idea. She got good when the animation designs got back to where it needed to be for the characters by Guess Who when they gave Velma her classic look back because that original voice would not have worked. If you notice, she voices Velma differently now than she does in this audio here, which is from Be Cool. Now she is right up there with Nicole and Mindy Cohn.
I feel the opposite. I think her exaggerated silly voice works the best in be cool and really fails for me in guess who and trick or treat. Idk that’s personal
@@joelsytairo6338 Well of course it works the best in Be Cool as I stated due to that weird animation design, but as VELMA overall who we recognize her and the voices she's had before, it does not work. Thats why Kate adjusted it when they changed back to the original design. Now she sounds more closer to what we got out of Nicole and Mindy, like a hybrid of the two and it works. I almost think Mindy is still there at times given her recent tenure in the role for over a decade before her cancer took her out of it. Just goes to show why you should not mess with the designs so drastically because then you get voices that just sounds off when bringing in someone new.
That dialogue from Mindy kaling shows the show writers are fully aware of what they're doing. They just don't give a damn. Race swapping 3 characters, the only seemingly untouched character (Fred) is probably gonna be gay, And Scooby is not even in the show as far as we know. Shoulda just made an original show at that point.
I honestly think they wanted to make an original series but, this is Warner Brothers. Ofcourse they have to slap a very known IP so it can make money. The Potential this show could've had. Damn.
1. Nicole Jaffe: A fan favorite. 2. Mindy Cohn: Cohn did a great job taking Nicole's aspects of the character and making them her own. 3. B.J. Ward: She sounds great! 4. Mindy Kaling: She's actually pretty good. 5. Pat Stevens: She sounds a bit forced and laughs at the end of her clip. 6. Linda Cardellini: I liked her as Velma in the Live Action but she falls flat as a voice actor. 7. Gina Rodriguez: Umm, are you even trying?! 8. Kate Miccuci: Incredibly irritating and sounds too much like Lois Griffin. 9. Marla Frumkin: What?! Young Velma I'm tied here.
@@muwalakoala believe you me they are both bad, but Mindy Kaling is at the very least trying to sound like velma, Gina Rodriguez I don't know what they were going with she just sounds like a generic woman voice
You should also voice comparison of Hiccup from How to train your dragon 🐉 because I love how to train your dragon 🐉 and also Clyde McBride from the Loud house and an updated voice of Courage the cowardly dog 🐶 and last but not least Spider man 2099
It's crazy how it's not until they literally brought Nicole Jaffe back for the first two What's New films that they finally got someone trying to sound like her with Mindy Cohn. Pat Stevens and BJ Ward don't really sound like Velma and then there's Marla Frumkin who's on a whole other level.
Stevens did sound like Nicole, just older and BJ was rather interesting because it was fresh enough for it to be her own, but similar enough to be acceptable. Marla was just like you said, ON A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL. I have no idea what that even was....like did she even TRY to sound anything like the character!
@user-gw1mr2cs3i yes, I like her in other things but when she plays velma it's just too nerd and she needs to lower her voice a bit, with it being too high pitched she just makes Velma sounds scared all the time.
@@senister14 I don't know why did Warner Bros. replaced Mindy Cohn over Kate Micucci (The worst successor, Her voice is very grating.) without telling her😡
Mindy Cohn is the best voice for Velma in my opinion. Mindy Kaling's Velma is pretty decent; I'm looking forward to hearing her voice Velma in "Velma".
Well to be honest don’t be too Harsh on the kids. Since it’s supposed to be young scooby doo. I can see why you didn’t like B.J but the 90’s scooby movies are iconic.
People dog on Mindy Kaling but I personally think her voice for velma is really really good. Kind of a younger more spry version of Mindy Cohn. Honestly prefer her to Kate micucci
I think Mindy Kaling as Velma is really good too. Except the Adult Show is a mockery of everything Scooby-Doo & the Mystery Inc. stands for. Of everything that Scooby-Doo represented to childhood.
I hate to say this because everyone is saying the opposite but besides Marla Frumkin I just really don’t care for the Mindy Cohn voice. It’s good for Velma it just annoys me. I honestly like Kate Micucci as Velma. It’s like modern version of classic Velma if that makes sense.
Next, please do a voice comparison for the Trolls characters, like Poppy, Branch, Biggie, King Peppy, Smidge, Guy Diamond, Satin, Chenille, Creek, and DJ Suki! 🥺🥺🥺🤞🤞🤞
yeah her voice isnt bad, just the alternate dimension indian velma doesnt make sense. at least act like its a different universe if they're getting race swapped so there's a plausible reason
Mindy Cohn and B.J. Ward are both still living which makes me wonder how come they won’t return to voice Velma. Then I looked at their ages, B.J. Ward probably won’t return because she’s almost 80. Mindy Cohn could return one day, because she’s 57.
Nicole all the way! :) I know everyone hates the new Velma including myself but honestly Mindy did a really good job trying to sound like her! Too bad the character itself for it is an entirely different character along with the others… She would of been even better if the character WAS and actually acted like Velma..
Nicole Jaffe is fine for the time, but she's not my favorite Velma. Marla Frumkin is a good successor to Nicole, same with Pat. Christina Lange is a good younger Velma. BJ Ward is the second best Velma in my opinion. Mindy Cohn is underrated. Linda Cardellini is also underrated. Stephanie is meh. Kate Miccuci is the best Velma bar none. Gina Rodriguez... I like how her take is sarcastic just like Mystery Inc, but her voice does NOT fit Velma Dinkley at all. She could've made it sound a bit dorkier IMO. Mindy Kaling can go fly a kite, both as the voice of Velma and as an actual person.
I miss Mindy Cohn every day, no hate for Kate Micucci, but I wish they didn't replace Mindy liked they did. BJ Ward is so nostalgic to hear thou. As for my least favorite, I feel like they picked Gina, because she had a hot voice and wanted to make Velma hot. lol
It's completely absurd to replace Mindy Cohn over Kate Micucci, I can't stand Micucci's portrayal of Velma. They didn't have to replace Cohn who was supposed to continue voicing Velma. 😡
To me, it's only Nicole Jaffee and Pat Stevens. Pat Stevens character was more Alpha female, less awkward and clumsy, and more of a co-leader to Fred. She also portrayed Velma during the later part of the golden era of the show in the late 70's.
Say what you will about Mindy Kaling but at least she can sound like Velma if you ignore all the questionable things coming from her mouth. Now Marla on the other hand, oh honey… 💀
1: Nicole Jaffe 2: Kate Miccuci (She does so much better after Be Cool) 3: Pat Stevens (RIP She was a good replacement for Jaffe) 4: Mindy Cohn 5: BJ Ward
