I sprained my ankle (actually foot) 2 weeks ago. Initially it wasn’t that swollen but I could not physically walk on it even a step after I hobbled home. I tried icing it but it was making the pain worse. Later that day I went and got an x-ray and sure enough have a little avulsion fracture off the anterior calcaneus. It got more and more swollen and bruised over the next 2 days and could not physically weight bear for 3 days even in a cam boot. I’ve been told now I can walk on it and have weaned off the cam boot now. I still limp and my calf size is so much smaller now. My mobility of the ankle is almost back to normal in plantar flexion and dorsiflexion. It’s painful still with some inversion and eversion movements with weight bearing but even this is improving. I have a physio appointment this afternoon and hoping to be moving onto strengthening! Such a frustrating process as a usually very active individual!

This video was really good, and just what I was looking for! I appreciate so much, all the thorough and detailed descriptions of the foot and ankle anatomy, and all of the types of injuries that can occur. It really helped me in a big way. About 16 months ago, I injured my ankle in such a way, that has caused me to be continuously impaired, as it still has not healed correctly, and some days I can barely walk. It is especially hard when I first get out of bed and sometimes additional pain in the evening. What has made things more complicated, are a few pre-existing problems I had prior to (what I believe to be a sprain based on the descriptions I learned of in this video) to the actual and most recent sprain incident. I put off going to the doctor, because I had just moved from one state to another, and in a new town/city, and it was during the tail end of all the C19 nonsense and all the disturbing Gestapo-like forceful pressuring of people to get injected with an untested toxin as some kind of requirement in order to resume with our lives. It was and still is, a very creepy situation, as we do not get granted "rights" nor does government get to remove them in the name of "safety". Then use every way to imaginable to coerce people into taking this injection, with an unnatural and contrived urgency that to me, more and more came to resemble what I saw as a deception. Everything about it was highly suspicious. The conflicting information that constantly changed, the labeling people as spreading misinformation or cutting people out of the use of social media if you asked questions or shared your doubts to others. Then the (US) government and other major health agencies (you know the ones) decided to make other medications and treatments that were KNOWN TO BE EFFECTIVE AND SAFE, and made them practically inaccessible. Also Highly suspicious! They collectively continued to push this injection as leverage if we wanted "normalcy" to return, but never gave consistent answers to legitimate concerns. I could go on and on, even more than I have, though I'm sure you get the idea, as to why I was terrified to go to a hospital. I simply was not going to be a "lab rat" in their creepy experiment. It makes no sense, and can actually be harmful, if you take a "preventative injection" when you've already had that particular ailment. You don't get a shot for chicken pox for example, after you've already had it. Doctors know this, yet these "authorities" did not care, and that is clearly something that is wrong, and only adds to the suspicion when you see such "deliberate incompetence". To make a long story substantially shorter, I had the good fortunate of finding a good place to go to,and very close to my home, that specializes in podiatric issues and conditions, to get a better look at why my ankle is so damaged, now that some of the viral hype has dissipated. I feel I have a small window of opportunity before "they" attempt another planned threat. I've spent over a year in pain most of the time, and I'm completely sick of it, and with not knowing exactly what is wrong with me or what to do about it. I could never seem to find any answers that made sense, until this video. This has been so helpful considering all the obstacles and uncertainty. Thank you so very much for helping to clarify the missing puzzle pieces of my problem so I can be more at ease with the direction I need to take, and with more accurate knowledge to better allow me to find a solution to my on going impairment. An impairment, I definitely want to be free of.. it's been a painful and frustrating journey with no end in sight until now. I sincerely thank you~

Sprained my ankle, i lost my balance going down the stairs and bent the ankle inwards ( the most common injury ) and came back up from that position. Hand helped too late. It immediately hurt a lot but stopped after a few minutes. I could normally walk for almost an hour and then it began to swell and be painful, and after 2 hours i was completely unable to even touch the ground with the injured foot ! Its almost my 2nd week now, still cant walk its swollen and so annoying, cant sleep deep into the night cause of the pain and discomfort ( awake till 2-4am ) Grade 2 injury btw, probably 2+ i bet. I cant wait to finally start training the ankle to be able to do normal things i do and sport!!!! 😢 This video was very informative

You need to go to a podiatrist first and get X-Rays to make sure you don't have a fracture. If you only have a sprain with no fracture then you can do rehab which will lead to full recovery. I highly suggest you try HEM. Don't use the RICE method that is so common, it doesn't work.

I am a teacher and sprained my ankle a year ago while coming down the stairs. Xray showed no fracture but MRI showed inflammatory synovitis with mild ankle joint effusion. I had no option to quit the job at that time, so I took no rest and kept working all days. I used to get cramps and pain while standing, walking, climbing stairs and swelling by the end of the day. The injury became more serious and I had to quit the job. It's been almost 2 months now I have been resting at home. But still I can't walk properly and my ankle shows stiffness, redness, swelling and burning pain. I can climb the stairs but can't go down the stairs easily. It really hurts. I feel hopeless and helpless thinking that my ankle has been permanently damaged. Not understanding what to do.... totally fed up now.☹️😫

I went to ER on Sunday for sprained ankle they did X-rays and said it was fine noticeable fractures. But my range of motion has not improved too much yet and I do have a little bit of bruising on the inner foot near the heel. Swelling is maybe 90% better but I’m unable to hear weight on it. I tried standing on it for first time and it felt like a jolt like pain on my heel. I’m terrified that maybe I have a really bad injury. Is it possible to still not be able to stand on it 6 days later?

Use a small step or something the size of a roadside curb instead, some kind of small ledge. You can use a normal step in your house too but don't push all the way down.

I have sprained my right ankle 5 weeks ago. Doctor said it is a severe ankle sprain but no fracture. I was put on a cast for 4 weeks. Then, cast was removed and I started walking with crutches. Yesterday I walked alone (no crutches) and everything was fine except that I still feel pain. Swelling has reduced significantly (there is almost no swelling). Is it normal to feel pain and should I keep walking on it or not ?
@SportsInjuryPhysio
@SportsInjuryPhysio Год назад
Yes, severe sprains can take 12 to 16 weeks to fully heal. Make sure you also do exercises to restore your control and strength around the ankle. A physiotherapist can provide you with a rehab plan but here are also some ideas: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cm0oGeEWDOg.html

@@SportsInjuryPhysio So, is it recommended that I keep walking on it ? Or shall I rest it until it heals completely ? I am not intending to run or do physical activities, I just want to walk so that I can resume my life.

I sprained my ankle about 9 months ago. I used some medicine. Spray and pills. But my ankle is still a bit swollen and different from the ankle of the other foot. Do you think my ankle will ever be the same as before? What do you suggest I do?

I was taking out the trash and stepped off the side walk while while towards my apartment dumpster and rolled my ankle and fell. There's a soft ball shaped swollen mass on my foot and I'm laying down with an ice pack tied around my ankle with a kitchen towel. This shit hurts man....

@@5tamika I'm grateful to say its better today and Im tempted to agree to the hairline break. I was able to gingerly walk on it but I guess its still too early since it swelled later. I'm seeing my doctor today 🙏🏽

Jammed both ankles coming down the stairs. Very painful. Walked it off. No swelling or bruising. Both feet have a little numbing, pinching and throbbing. Very fatiguing. I can't carry more than 30 lbs. 6 months ago had X-rays, not broken. Now what?

Contact me, you need to fully rehab your ankle to get better. I know what works. Don't do RICE, you will never heal with it. It will just temporarily dull your pain and never heal you.

Hi Edward, from what you write it sounds as if you may actually have injured a nerve in your ankles if you're feeling numbing sensations as well. It is good to know that you've not broken anything and it likely just needs the correct exercises to get everything working as they should. If you wanted help with your rehab and an exercise plan, this is something that our team of physios can assess and help you with via video call. You can read more about how the online consultations work here: www.sports-injury-physio.com/
