One of my favourite childhood movies. I don't care how true are the historical facts. The romance between two main actors were brilliant. I loved both main actors and everything was so good with a bitter sweet ending.

How funny I’m a Burmese 😂😂😂 and like this movie. In this movie, they fought against my country. We and Thailand have a lot of history and a lot of opposite opinions towards each other. But one thing.... In this movie, when the King said ‘Not the equal of a man. It’s the equal of a King’, that means he honored her as his equal (His Queen). That kinda undercover love is priceless.

@loom pool True. I don't understand why people hold grudges from the histories in general. Conflicts between countries are in the past, and people who went through it or dead. Dead or alive, the conflict between countries are the leaders fault, not the citizens. So, yeah, it's kinda dumb to hate each other for what they didn't do. Most people didn't have the right to choose. I mean, people who hate on them weren't even born lol

I'm a Malaysian & I'm here to see the actors who are now making it in our Malaysian entertainment industry. That little girl is Melissa Campbell who is an actress on Kopitiam Double Shot. Adflin Shauki is famous for his comedic roles from Phua Chu Kang & Papadom. The security guard is Harith Iskandar who is a famous comedian in Malaysia. The rest I can't remember much....

Excellent movie!!! Their performance is brilliant,the chemistry of the two main characters is so obvious, especially when they look at each other with so much warmth.Everything is awe-inspiring (the clothes,the set,the atmosphere,the piece of music), I felt like I travelled in Thailand through this. Pure Art 💖 Too bad it's such an underrated movie.

This movie. Beautiful scenes. but Thai clothes are not like this. Plus the ships in this movie are big and beautiful. if you are Thai you will know that this movie is distorted and you don't really know the way of life of Thai people.

What is more funny is that actors is actually a Chinese in the book he was not a Chinese. Thanks good they casted an asian Hollywood sometime whitewash asian. Ghost in the sheild was played by foreigner when the heroine is actually japan. They casted white actor for Cleopatra

When I was very young my dad directed The King and I in a high school play. From the King and I on, one of the first movies I saw as a child, this story always fascinated me, especially that dress Deborah Kerr wore in Shall we Dance! This movie I've watched multiple times, and love it even though the Anna Leonowans story is a complete fake I guess. I've read her books, too! Chow Yun-Fat is great in this movie!

For some reason I think about this movie every few years. Still amazed by how much it influenced me without me even really originally paying attention to it that much Deals with a lot of very contentious subjects for the countries that surround the plot and is very much a clash of cultures type of movie. I think that's why it affected me so much. Got me super into reading history and got me to branch out and meet people I probably wouldn't have before

@@exofairy4568 The filming team was banned from filming. And the film was banned in Thailand. So they chose to film in Malaysia instead. The terrain is similar and they can bring a team from Thailand to explain the details.

Just before Yul Brynner died, he portrayed the King in Cleveland, Ohio, in the play The King and I. It was an evening to remember for my 11 year old daughter and myself. We still talk about it 39 years later. This story always fascinated me, and this movie is absolutely beautifully told, though not historically correct. I must have watched it at least five times

Because Thai government did not give permission to film it in Thailand, as the movie is considered historically inaccurate due to the disrespectful depiction of King Mongkut

France didn't conquer Asia (except Indochine). But England and Nederlands fight each other on seas. France is the hereditary ennemy of England since middle age. France is the neighbor of England. They hate each other but they're always stuck together. To be honest, watching the movie, I was surprised that they mentionned French People.

The story tried to do a romantic role with Thai king Rama4 . But in reality when I saw his picture and his biography LOL. He been a monk almost his whole life until the took the crown. I hope people understand that it’s just a imagine of writer , not a reality.

I'm telling THE TRUTH here.This movie is all about a imagination of a girl whom the thai royal family asked to be a teacher for the royal family and its all her imagination that the king loved her by came to her chamber often but in reality she the only foreigner in castle and the king is the only one who can speak english in the castle and he need to write a letter to other foreigner country for trade,so he go to her chamber to ask her about the English Grammar.Thus,he would make a mistake.Then,she though that king come to here chamber so often because he love her which not true at all
