The best thing about Anna Bayle is her humility and honesty. She rightfully acknowledges her success but without airs. She is the quintessential runway Diva and models should be inspired by her not just in style, but in personality.
A perfect diva catwalk. Her moving steps are just perfect...flawless. No asian female model (as I remember) has accomplished such an achievement like she did....
And take note that in the time of 80s, She's not just the first asian supermodel but she is also the number 1 most talented supermodel... And she is also one of the most highest paid supermodels during their time... Even the present day i think
According to @chrismayo2647, anna could not do anything except turn and twirl...hahaha Naomi was mentored by Anna. That is why Naomi copied the hair flip and she tried and failed to copy the Bayle walk. Not even close but u can see how hard she tried when Anna retired from modelling
She’s beautiful. And it’s nice to see an example of a Filipina with classical beauty that doesn’t look more European with pale skin. Not that it’s wrong to look that way but that’s usually the type promoted by Filipinos
Its like, whatever era we had as Filipinos, there was one outstanding countrymen who really making us proud even up to these days. I hope we will continue making legacy for our country.
Anna was so exquisite and refined- at one point she had a line of lipstick sold at Henri Bendel in New York in the early to mid 90's? Don't remember the exact year. I thought she was amazing. In the 80's before the internet there was video fashion monthly which I watched every month while I was a student at F.I.T. Anna was in every important show that you can imagine. She is not forgotten.
Great video! Anna Bayle should consider writing a book and have it published in the U.S. She's got so many great stories to tell. She's worked with the best top designers of haute couture in Europe such as Valentino, Karl Lagerfeld, Giorgio Armani, Gianni Versace, Thierry Mugler, Christian Lacroix and so many more. And top American fashion designers. Carolina Herrera, Oscar dela Renta, Michael Kors, Bob Mackie, Isaac Mizrahi. And the who's who of top fashion photographers. Helmut Newton, Patrick Demarchelier. The list of all of whom she had woked with is quite long and quite distinguished.
Her sister was a close friend of my sister and we all were in the same University in the Philippines. She modeled for the designer I worked for and blossomed into one of the most sought after models. She's truly amazing!
I just absolutely adore how she aged so gracefully. And how brown her skin is. Morenas are gaining popularity in the Philippines, but I know how much Filipino women don't like the colour of their dark skin. She's absolutely beautiful, a perfect role model.
I remember her and Dalma, Iman, and Dianne Dewitt, modeling for what seemed like 20 plus years, and as a child you think these people will do this forever, but alas, that is not the case
Wow 🤩. I want to see a full video of her catwalks through her entire career. I wish a video like that exists. The way she wears and carries each clothe is elegant and graceful. She carries the clothes well, but also her entire body. She looks so natural effortless. Like a goddess walking in the clouds.
Naomi admitted in one of her interviews, her catwalk was inspired by Anna Bayle. Your statement should have been..Naomi Campbell is a black Anna Bayle!
Read about her from an old magazine. She had an amazing story that I can vaguely recall when she was on the runway for Dior (if I was correct) along with Iman where they closed the show both posed like flowers holding each other.
When I worked for Tony Cajucom in his Manila Atelier. I was on of the hand-painter for the beautiful gowns for Hyatt fashion show. There was Guada, Eva Reyes & Anna Bayle was very new in modelling scene and was not the star of the show., I recall the designer admire Anna's body as it was the perfect frame & bones. Annd, then, I read she went to Hong Kong and to Paris and the rest was history. Back in UP, I rode with her in a bus too and she was a member of the volleyball team. Her sister, Jopay used to hang out in our house ein UP campus, though we were never intoroduced, we were around the same circle back in the days. That's why I followed her career, as I am so proud of how she has managed to be so famous in the Internnational fashion scene. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Here is a more artistic compilation of her runway walks ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mOw1EewjzA8.htmlsi=x8O8o7rKcsWAXjAF
Annabelle Aquino Bayle or "ANNA BAYLE" for short first came into limelight when she competed at Miss Republic of the Philippines (Miss RP) 1974 at 17 years old and already standing at 5'10" were she emerged as First runner-up to eventual winner Suzanne Gonzales who was the official Philippines' rep to Miss World 1975 (following year).
She’s great! Really great model from the Philippines of her time . The first Filipina & the first Asian to penetrate. .. in the modeling world before Mimilanie Marquez
The comments are so funny-- they are so invested in this thing. Let's just say that Anna was there, on top, before the "Supers" and she was still walking alongside them when they got more popular and famous. As far as their walks-- they all walk differently. They're from different generations of models so they will have different walks. Even today, new models have different walks... and of course it is inevitable that the newer generation of models would have been inspired by the older generation.
WOW❣️More people, especially those interested in fashion and models from the late 80s-90s, should know about her. And what an intelligent thoughtful class act she is!
I don't see any resemblance of naiome Campbell signature walk to her walk, thier both had a unique style of walking on the runway ana bayle is ana bayle and naiome is naiome!
One and only.!! As u can see she walks different from the others.her walks makes u want to ask for more. Her walk is an art by itself...nowadays models are boring and no feminimity at all, they are just beautiful but no substance at all..
Which means wala kang kaalam alam about fashion if only tito boy or maymay is your only source of info. By the way sinong maymay yan? Nafeature ba yan sa biggest magazines, big fashion shows in milan new york london paris like anna? Lol
Anna was fabulous! No doubt. However, an even earlier Asian model who rose to the top, and…AND, had a mannequin in her likeness by Rootstein, was superstar Sayoko Yamaguchi. Let’s not forget. But we still love Anna.
Sayoko was probably the first or one of the first ones in the international fashion scene. Janice Dickinson - who looks very Asian but has only acknowledged her white ancestry - was also a major model in the 70's.
I always hear the comparison between Melanie Marquez and Ana Bayle...Though I love love Melanie I don’t/never see proof of her/their claim saying that she walked/modeled for this or that, top model etc. ( other than the Supermodel of the World 1986 video) on the other hand Ms. Bayle has many video evidence.
you are right..anna bayle is a legit supermodel..ive been looking for her old videos and i discovered a lot of it...she was able to work with big brands and well known designers like versace.. she walked in the catwalk along with naomi campbell, cindy crawford, and many others..
There is no comparison though. It's like comparing cleopatra to a nobody.....ilusyonada lang kasi si melanie na kesyo naging international model daw kahit isang beses lang naman nafeature...anna was the real deal and a legit supermodel working for the biggest brands back then.
@@itsjclu ahay, I came way tooo late to this party, but Anna was to catwalk what Melanie was to fashion photography. Yan din sagot ni Cindy Crawford when she was asked if she was more successful than Anna. Very succesful si Anna sa runway pero di masyado sa print photography/endorsements, which is more malaking kita.
There's no internet yet in the 80s, it was only in the fashion circles of Malate Manila who were aware of Anna Bayle. There were small clippings in the newspapers and magazines and that was all that we had. Locally, it was Melanie Marquez who was making waves in the media because she was more visible to us.
