Anna Netrebko - I Puritani - Vien, diletto e in ciel la luna! 

Brava! Ms. Netrebko deserves a lot of credit. Not everyone can sing descending chromatic scales as well as she. I think her coloratura in general is excellent and she isn't afraid to sing piano or pianissimo. Also, I think she really acts the part well.

Brains, beauty and beautiful voice...all in one in Miss Netrebko, how refreshing

Anna Netrebko with the most athletic voice and body in Opera. How many sopranos or anyone else could manage such a graceful landing on that bench :) And who else can sing lying on their back anywhere on stage? let alone hanging over the footlights? She once stated in interview... "I can sing in any position!" and I believe her. Btw I like the way she does her coloratura runs... as extension of the arc of emotional expression rather than show-offy moments of technique. But then total performance skills are my primary gauge... not just the traditional "stand there and sound good" gauge. And I prefer the innovative opera directors who relish the subtext of the libretti as much as the text.

She doesn't reach the extreme dramatic lengths as Maria Callas..but her musical line is beautiful and delicate. Very adorable performance!! Anne is great!❤❤❤

Funny to read some of these comments. How quickly people turn and want to knock someone off that pedestal. She’s in the right place now, she was never a coloratura. There’s a big difference between being it and merely being able to do it.

No matter what some say, I like her. She is very hot, a great actress, and has a nice and warm voice.

@Remalia19 I'm believed to be a tenor and before I started any serious training my range extended until F# above (male) high C (which is ridiculously high). Now that I have actual classes and have to sing in the mask and so on, anything decent above C# is yet to be heard. So I gather that raw range doesn't have much to with technique. You can take Andrea Bocelli as another example.

I'm not much of a fan of her even after hearing her sing at the Met a few times - YOU do have to admit that she is a fine singer and she can actually act a part well too - SHe does sing this quite well

What do you do, if I may? I would suppose you are likely a writer, for your impeccable vocabulary and outstanding forming of sentences is quite heartening to read. I myself furthermore despise the infernal brutality of the former comment and recommend that the sender of it should keep his nose out of business which he clearly has not spark of understanding in.

She has a lovely stage presence, excellent dramatic instinct, and her voice is just right for the role. I'm not that moved by her singing here, though, as the fioriture are good but Bellini fioriture have to be like jewels, and the tempi are rather lax and Las Vegas speed.

Unfortunatly she starts the songs very loudly as if she's having an argument, just the opposite of the gentle way the great Rosa Ponsell does in her beautiful recording in English

She's such a natural stage creature, but I think she was put on stage a bit too soon, before her florid technique was complete.

Yes unfortunately the situation has changed. Now RU-vid is filled with videos of Netrebko's Puritani - her most embarassing role to day. Although I'm sure she has no problems doing worse than this soon maybe with Linda di Chamounix. RIP Bel Canto.

Her voice is simple not flexible. Her Eb was flatter than car tires from 1972.

...okay. so all it takes is one person to point out that Netrebko relies heavily on her sex appeal, and the "standard of the art form" is compromised as "centures of enlightened progress" dissipate. What an opinion.

Great voice, decent technique, acting little over the top.

Netrebko attempts singing the downward diatonic scales as single phrases, then finishes with an e-flat curiously interpolated before the coda. The aria is bogged down by these things.

Thinking about young singers, I prefer Dessieré Rancatore

while I normally don't waste time watching anyone who's under 50, since the greats are dead, i must admit that i found this version to be almost fabulous. kudos for her starting the second round on her back...but theatrical effects can't make up for that lack of vocal power. nice try love

This Aria should be twice as fast. It's funny when the chorus and orchestra try to catch up in between. The most usual timbre and lack of bell canto. This is what makes PR and big money from Russia. But as always, a little lie on the stage and the audience is happy.

For cabaret .. this would be not too bad ... but as this is suposed to be Opera, it is really really really terrible and thousands miles away from how Bal canto must be sung. Sorry Netrebko ... this is definately not for you.

Even Gheorghiu sings this better and she`s a spinto.
