I listen to memoir audiobooks. It is like a friend telling you their life story/experience. Plus I am less likely to get that mixed up with the story I am physically reading.
I saw your goodreads and I FREAKED. Also this is kinda ironic cause I finished powerless yesterday and I also annotated a book for the first time with Powerless
I have covid rn so you posting is the greatest thing that could’ve happened today. love you and you are definitely the greatest booktuber (including sara and des ofcs) . you deserve WAY more recognition than you already have and I hope you’ll reach the 10k this year because that would be iconic and you truly deserve that. love your content and personality. 💕💕
17:27 mom to mom, i definitely understand the audiobook vs physical book issue. the only loop hole i have found is i will be reading one genre and listening to another. let’s say a romance and a thriller. that way i know i’m not blurring the line between the two.
Ouuuu this is actually such a good point because I feel like maybe my brains would separate them more if they’re like opposite genres lol thank you!! 🫶🏼
This is a good idea! My brain can usually only handle one audiobook and one physical book (well, ereader book, but like physically reading it) at a time. But I usually have my audiobook as a book that was too difficult for me to get through just by reading it. Like the Dune series lol. It was too dense for me to read, but I wanted to know what happens because I like the new movie series that they’re doing.
I agree with @user who currently has Covid (😢) that your videos add joy to my day. I’ve never annotated a book except for kindle notes I might add during a book I’m reading for my book club. Due to my family moving around so much we pretty much just read e-books so writing in the margins and having creative remarks and tabs on a physical book will probably not happen soon. I don’t reread books generally so I’m not regretful about it. I’m sure it’s fun to do. Thanks for sharing annotating your first book.
Omg you know what you could do (if you ever really want to annotate a book too but can’t on the kindle) is you could download a little notebook app and make it like your ejournal for your ebooks?! I feel like you could make it so cute and it would be just as portable as your kindle is!!! 🫶🏼🫶🏼
I haven't read powerless yet and now I'm eager more then ever....plus I love your videos.....you are like my book bestie and I can't miss a video and I can't wait for more videos
🥹🫶🏼 I hope you know both Markie and I get so excited when we see your comments lol you’ve been here since day one this year 🥰 you should def read this book at some point!!! 🫶🏼
I don't know if someone else mentioned it, but you can always pick colors from different sheets and exchange places so you only need to carry one sheet but get every color you like, at least that's what I do
Fourth Wing is one of my top favorites. Since you mentioned it's just as good or even better than Fourth Wing, I purchased this book immediately! :) hehe love ya Hals! Also, I am obsessed!! with Fable even since you introduced it to me. What is your Fable account? It would be great to connect.
if you want tabs that vary across each pack, it’s very easy to lift up the entire stack of tabs and swap it out for a unused color on another plastic sheet! you can almost customize it lol
Could you please do a video where, you DM other book tubers, and ask them for a book that you should read? ❤4:33 I have the same pens just different color❤
I really want to do that actually!! I just don’t know if anyone would actually respond LOL so we’ll see 😅🫶🏼 ALSO how cutie we have the same ones, I love them!
My brain and thought process is always all over the place and it shows when words come out of my mouth, That's why im indecisive on if I will continue doing videos well that and a couple of other things
@@HalJones my editing skills is lacking but I did do my best . You think I should keep doing videos? Even though they aren't that good. Thanks for saying that . I enjoy your videos . Your editing is good.
No bc I was in THEE WORST reading slump after Powerless 🥲 for at least 2 or 3 weeks 💀 BUT now I’m reading The Serpent & The Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent and sooo far, it’s giving what I needed it to give after powerless 🥹 AND it’s on kindle unlimited!
I’ve only annotated two books (one where I wrote in it and tabbed and the other was tabs only) and I LOVE it but I also go a bit crazy with the tabs lolll. I just read divine rivals and my emotions through that book deserved to be noted with tabs and annotations but I had already started it so once I reread it I will start annotating it. I think for me personally annotating a book works best with rereads because I know the direction it will go in and roughly what I want to note, and I’m already super attached to the characters so my emotions are at their peak. One thing I’m looking forward to is rereading the AGGGTM trilogy and noting the connections with all the books that you miss on your first read. Also I’m gonna start rereading some childhood faves next year (I am SO excited to get stuck into the legend series because that trilogy altered my 14 year old brain’s chemistry)
@@HalJones I’m gonna have to now. I have not read a fantasy book in like 8 years so I’m nervous I won’t get fully invested because my brain just zones out when I get bored for a second while reading lol
@@bettyyybooopp trust me I daydream the second I get bored LOL so I understand, you should try listening to the audiobook while reading along to get you into it and then once you’re more invested you can turn it off and it will be way easier to stay in it!! I remembered doing that in school and few weeks ago and I’ve been trying that and it’s really helped (: 🫶🏼
@@HalJones ohh thanks that’s a good idea. I’ll definitely try that. hope I’m gonna love it as much as you did because I need a book like that again lol 🫶🫶💕🎀
I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure you can tab and make a note on Libby audios. And then when you’re done listening you can go back through the book and tab those spots. It won’t say the page but at least you’ll know the chapter and a guess of where in that chapter you want your tab 🤷♀️ maybe it could work.
You really inspired me to start annotating my books as well. I’m gonna start by using tabs💪🏼 and maybe one day I’m gonna write in them 🥲 also I really love your videos, much love from the Netherlands 🫶🏼
Thank you so much 🥹 I definitely recommend tabbing because I didn’t even write anything down and it’s still been so beneficial for referencing things!!! (: 🫶🏼🤍
6:36 if u like multiple colors from different palette you can take the tabs off the card and put on the book cover that’s what I’ve see people do so you don’t have to carry them around individually or have to just chose one card
I am terrified of annotating a book because I tend to mis-spell things so much, and if I get a sparkle ✨ sheet ✨ of tabs then I’m scared on writing too big on all of them, and then the next thing I know is that I have to buy a whole knew ✨ sheet ✨. Also, can we just talk about the Christmas lights on Hal’s bedpost thing-? ahhhhhh ITS SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤🎄
I misspell things all the time I just roll with it cause it’s only for me and I know what I meant but I definitely get being scared I used to be but it’s definitely something you’ll get over if you genuinely like annotating and aren’t just doing it to be aesthetic🥰
Once u get more into fantasy u NEED to read the six of crows series. It’s a YA fantasy that revolves around an impossible heist and has found family and 3 romance subplots. The world building can be a bit confusing if u don’t read a lot of fantasy but it’s my fav book of all time🩷🩷🩷 also one of the romances is the most sad, painful, and beautiful things I’ve ever read🥰
