Have to agree on the fixturing. We've played 2 2-dayers this year and had 2 abandoned, and in contrast have played 7 1-dayers. Back in the old days, it was 2 day cricket with round 1 and maybe round 2 being a 1-dayer and the first game back after the break being a 1-dayer. Also agree with you on the playing surface, for a lower grade ground, that is mint, but is that the skinniest deck you've ever seen? I've seen synthetic wickets wider than that!
