I can't seem to leave a comment as an answer to one of the carnivore enthusiast enlisting all the low carb gurus and directing us to go "watch them" so I'll try to comment in here. I read 'Cancer as a Metabolic Disease' by Dr. Seyfried 7 years ago. I watched every lecture and read all studies on low carb diets I had access to throughout the years (reading studies is part of my job). I gave meat based diet in every proportion of macronutrients and product quality a chance for 6 years. What these diets left me with is as follows: EXTREME methane SIBO, extreme constipation/ slow transit causing such frequent and painful migraines I required medical intervention every month (accompanied by 3 days of vomiting to make the migraine even worse), sarcopenia (!!!), IBS, anxiety, total cholesterol over 400 and LDL 270, chest pain (I couldnt sleep on my left side), difficulty breathing and for the first time in my life- suicidal thoughts on a daily basis. I DID THE DIET RIGHT and I was thin to begin with with no weight issues. Low carb is a trap which, sooner or later will catch up with you. I exchanged emails with Dr. Seyfried asking if he could explain why then so many people cure themselves from chronic disease including cancer on a vegan diet. He couldn't tell, but didn't oppose it. Dr Berry is a joke with severe hypertension making money on people without the ability to read data or think logically. This diet WILL destroy your life. When I started plant based diet which in my condition and with intestinal dysbiosis wasn't easy, I felt like I was given a new life. Every day I'm getting better and I'm in tears just realising how many years I lost by depriving myself of a variety of delicious and filled with healing properties plants. I wish you all the best and please, come back to these videos if you're in trouble. Good health xxx

Just because it didn’t work for you doesn’t mean thousands and thousands of people aren’t thriving and being healed by meat based diets. I’m glad you found what works for you but it’s ridiculous to take your personal experience as what the final result will be for everyone else. Most people quit the vegan diet after 5 years, reporting significant malnutrition and health issues. But some are able thrive on it. Everyone seems to have different results with different diets. I can only assume it may be based off our specific lineages. I know my Northern European ancestors weren’t eating fruits and veggies year round, which might be why I do much better running on animal fat/protein vs veggies/carbs. But this is far from settled science, as much as the “experts” would like us to believe.

Within 2 weeks he came off his meds and three years later he no reoccurrences. My wife had high blood pressure she went plant base for 2 weeks. For those who are not familiar with statistics, Dr. Davis was explaining that the 'n of 1' refers to a research study with only one participant. In scientific studies, having an n of 1, meaning a sample size of one, is generally not considered sufficient to draw meaningful population statistics or generalize the findings to a larger population. However, an n of 1 design can still be useful in intervention studies. For example, if a participant consistently experiences a reduction in cholesterol levels from 250 to 85 whenever they follow a specific dietary intervention, this individualized data can provide valuable insights and conclusions for that particular person. It's important to note that the conclusions drawn from an n of 1 study are specific to the individual and cannot be applied to the entire population.

I learned about whole food plant-based eating from listening to Dr. Greger’s seminal video How Not to Die. At the same time a friend told me about the cruelty in our food system, even with eggs and dairy which I had not known. Dr. Greger‘s research assured me that I did not need any animal products to be healthy. In my case, with a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, strokes & cancer I decided it was safest for me to avoid all animal foods. Thank you Dr Michael Greger. ❤

Hospitals, doctors offices and schools should be places where good nutrition is taught and provided not places that contribute to disease and obesity. It is crazy the hospitals are feeding people the very food that caused the heart disease, high blood pressure or cancer that they are treating. Every person in the hospital should receive some nutrition education before being released. Every doctor visit should be an opportunity to educate patients about how food choices impacts their health outcomes. The fact that doctors do not get nutrition training as part of their training makes no sense. Medicare and Medicaid should require nutrition education as part of patient care. Focus should be on food choices. Fasting should be investigated as a treatment for disease.

I have my health checked regularly, and at 68 feel fit and active and take no supplements or meds. If only more people understood what factory farming of animals was really like and witnessed how cruel and barbaric it is and how we dont need meat dairy and eggs to be healthy and thrive it would be the incentive they needed to change their habits and traditions for a better all round way of life.

@@jodiebasye9798 You act like you can say the same thing, but you can't at all. Therefore the burden of proof is on your hands since you're doing the killing. You had an option, this way or the deadly way, why would you choose the deadly way?

What you don't understand is, when we say it we say it with decades of evidence, the totality of evidence that is, backing us up, and with the fastest growing numbers of very longtime vegans and lifelong vegans and multigenerational vegans, all walks of life, a vast array of cardiologists, gastroenterologists, every type of doctor you can imagine, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, NutritionFacts, we even have an evidence based college the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, the National Health Association just had their 75 annual conference and Mark who runs it is 72 years old and vegan from birth, and not only have we never had any of your problems we can say ALL THAT as well as having support from Kaiser Permanente, World Health Organization, Medicare even funds the Ornish Program, all the largest health organization around the planet, and the largest body of dietitians and nutritionist, the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics says a well planned vegan diet is healthy and appropriate for every stage of life. You can't say ANY of that. All you can say is you have anecdotes and EVERY diet has anecdotes and 95 percent of diets FAIL. But, vegan is not a diet, it is simply a philosophy of Ahimsa, nonviolence. We just don't want to hurt animals. And it just so happens to be the most just way to be for all, even our own health, the environment, all life. What you're suggesting is not just unnecessary, it's a waste of energy as animals are on a higher trophic level. This is why it will never be sustainable to eat them which is why there are over 400,000 concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) in the US and these CAFOs are toxic to surrounding communities, toxic to waterways contributing to deadzones, and because it takes so many times more animals than there are people to feed people animals, those animals have to eat, so we're spending 20 fold more resources force into existence and care for, house, supplement, feed, and ultimately kill, these CAFO's are also the most horrific places to be in imaginable for the animals, so much that humans don't even want to be in them, so much the workers wont even eat the animals in them, all this abuse and violence and toxicity so you can needlessly consume their body parts, organs and secretions. And despite the CAFO's this is so unsustainable that we are destroying most precious rainforests and creating more zoonotic disease all because people like you don't know how to simply eat legumes, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs & spices and a variety of each, of which we could feed 20 fold more people with the opportunity cost alone and go from using 4 billion hectares of land to 1 billion. Just because you feel good right now doesn't mean you'll feel good later and doesn't mean you couldn't have done even better going on a proper whole food plant based diet instead of a death based diet. All elimination diets have anecdotes, what they don't have is the ease of simply eating plants to obtain and maintain the perfect weight effortlessly. You act like you can say the same thing, but you can't at all. You can do this, check out the daily dozen ap by nutritionfacts, it's backed by the most comprehensive analysis on nutritional science. if you need help consider someone that practices lifestyle medicine@@jodiebasye9798

I love that you describe how when you went vegan it was a journey. I currently find myself on that same journey. First I wanted to be healthier and over the past year step by step I now find myself as a flexitarian now looking into vegan. I do Intermittent fasting for weight loss, but the more I do and the more I learn about food, the less I want to eat anything ultra processed and the more I'm leaving behind meat. It's actually not seeming difficult at all. The most difficult is the keto people that keep yelling at me that I need to eat more (meat) protein and I just have no appetite for it, I don't see it as healthy anymore. I just find it strange that the people that wolf down bacon and burgers(on lettuce) are criticizing me eating an apple and an orange with my lunch everyday.

I shouldn't be lol'ing (dark humor coping thing) but that Cardiologist was possibly passive suicidal. He knew the data but likely didn't care! Somewhere in his head he accepted his mortality by choosing these quick addictive gratifications. Poor guy maybe needed better sleep, and a vacation, if that could help? Don't know his reasons. But you're correct that hospitals have plenty of junk food readily available in their cafeteria. Staff grabs junk food! Worse, patients have people bring them junk food. They're all addicts. These engineered junk foods hit the bliss points. People don't, at first, love this advice, but they need to 100% eliminate that junk from their life. Once it's out of their system, they shouldn't desire that junk. It's like weaning off a drug habit. Most processed junk food is an addictive engineered substance that acts as food. We know it's really a profit-designed manufactured product meant to lure and keep users buying their products. This crap that many Americans consume is so ubiquitous. Children are put on junk from early age, then they have to (if the kid is later educated) try to quit that junk. We have an unhealthy traditional junk infested food system. It's a part of the overall culture unless your social circle mostly follows a non-processed food diet. Anyways, hospitals are a contradiction regarding the junk food on their cafeterias vs what we generally know about diet and health outcomes. Maybe that Cardiologist retired and quit those horrible habits? If you know his name, you can find out what happened to him. Maybe he wised up, or retired and quit that crap, or not. That's really awful other people had to be exposed to cigarettes!!! No way! No! I can't imagine indoor smokers.

Increasing chronic diseases risk, being completely unsustainable, and intentionally hurting animals, increasing zoonotic and antibiotic disease risk, increased waste, there is like everything wrong with eating animals. And the more we realize this and see people ignoring the facts and sound inferences that have been demonstrated and practiced and lived for generations, eventually it's just like impossible not to say enough is enough, it is dumb

@VeganLinked Год назад
Carnivore is dumb, this isn't criticizing anyone for their choices, it's more like communicating a straight observation about a behavior. The behavior is eating animals. The behavior is dumb, deadly and destructive. It is dumb because those doing it are unable to justify it intelligently. Just like smoking is dumb. Really it is. And realizing this is what made me quit because I don't want to do dumb things. It's not ad hominem. Ad hominem is directed at a person, this is not about a person, this is about a position some people are taking, a dumb position. Ad hominem is what animal eaters do when they attack Milton for not looking the part, they attack his looks rather than his position. This is because the animal eaters can't defend their position so they attack the person. We're not attacking a person, we saying carnivorism is dumb.

Thank you again Dr. Davis, you are very honest and caring. As an ex-omnivore for over 25 years, I have learned a lot about animal protein. Through most of human history it has been a tool of survival which may have kept us alive. It has been a status symbol by the rich and powerful who could afford to buy and eat animals, whereas the poor were relegated to poor quality vegetables, plus bread, cheese and raw milk. One sign of weatlh in the 16 or 17th centuries was being overweight, it showed you had the money to afford and to overeat multiple animal fleshes and rich fatty deserts at each meal. Flesh and blood are also 'considered' to be manly and powerful to make males strong, muscular, and virile. This brainwashing starts when boys are little and continues through their lives (with few exceptions). Yet how may males get the connection between impending erectile dysfunction (and heart disease...) and true constipation, with those supposodly manly, and yet clearly saturated fat laden foods?. And vegetables (aside from perhaps potatoes and starchy vegetables) have been sadly considered to be female and for the weak. I think the lion diet is very psychological, not just physical, and those who consume it surely have a dominance and even control mentality, similar personality traits, and perhaps a "survival" (fear, and in carni a fear of plants as well) instinct in many ways.

If that was all you ate, at 2k Cal a day this may last one person about 265 days. 2 acres of potatoes would generate 12 million calories, 24 times more than a cow. This would feed over 16 people for a year instead. This is equivalent to feeding one person for 6,000 days or 16.4 years. Of course there could be other animals in the mix just as there can be other crops like carrots, beans, and greens. Now of course, not all land is created equal. Some land isn't viable for crops. Considering that plant crops can feed 16 times more people we obviously need less land anyways. And people can and do grow in their own homes, yards, and roof tops, vertically, etc... So, not only does plant agriculture feed more people for more years, because it's healthier they'll have more years to live and more life in their years. According to a document at the USDA dated 1917 beef would produce 130,000 calories per acre and sweet potato would produce 2,851,200. While these numbers are significantly smaller the results are very similar and of course still in favor of plants producing 21 times the amount of calories. naldc.nal.usda.gov/download/ORC00000242/PDF

Thank you for sharing. There is a big difference between those labelling themselves lions (human carnivores) and vegans. Its' a completely different way of looking at animals. The H.C. (human carnivores) see animals as serving their believed to be dietary needs . That they cannot survive or thrive without eating animals. Its' a survival mechanism or they would die. The animals to them are "food" who do not deserve to have their life or to live. Food that keeps them alive, food that is easy to consume in neat little packages all cut up. They are also afraid of eating plants. Clearly, whatever 'diet' they were previously consuming was not a good personal choice and their personal choice of food was malnourishing them. So, they turn to eating the animals, an inefficiant concentrated source of plants, to get those nutrients that their other personal choices of food were not providing for them, whether they were processed foods, salt, sugar, oil-laden foods, gluten, dairy..and a lack of Iron, zinc, D3, B12 etcetera. It a black and white equation, a very cut and dry and linear situation. No emotions. Animals are just, food. Especially when they are not doing the killing themselves and are comfortably distanced from that horror. The Vegans (human herbivore frugivores), see animals as sentient.beings that deserve their life and lives. Those beings that can feel the 5 senses (to hear, see, smell, taste and touch), as humans can, and all emotions from a to z (love, fear, anger, grief, pain, worry, helplessness, agitation...). We choose compasion for animal suffering and slaughter instead of pleasing our palates with their flesh, dairy, and eggs, and choose to eat plants instead. Its' a very emotional equation as vegans empathize with the pain and suffering the animals experience at the hands of humans. They are bred, raped, mutilated, used, separated from their offspring, and when they are young enough or stop producing eggs or dairy, at an early age sent to the horror show--the slaughterhouse--which is not happy for them. Many vegans have done undercover work and have seen first-hand how gentle and loving the aninals are, versus how they are treated as products and profit in animal agriculture. Few humans are aware that between 10% and 70% of dairy cows sent to slaughter are carrying a fetus. Few humans are aware that male dairy calves and male layer chicks are garbage to the animal industries. So much for "pro-life". They cannot be used and abused to make a profit. But, the industry keeps using them.. The animals truly feel betrayed by humans. The vegan compassion and empathy for animals does not make vegans superior, smarter, or better than other humans. However, it is an extremely ethical, compassionate, and moral choice to make to speak for those who do not have a voice and are victimized and bullied by humans to consume them. Peace be in you.
@VeganLinked

True on every level. I say they're not carnivores they're necrovores, because they don't do the killing, but instead they scavenge from someone else's kill. They probably ate a typical omnivore type diet and started eliminating the side items for more of the main thing they thought they needed most; meat, eggs, and dairy or body parts, organs and secretions. It makes sense they would gravitate to eliminating sides first. But it will be never make sense to see animals as food because now I know they are not necessary at all to eat. So they are no more food to me than humans

Are vegan omega 3 supplements as effective as fish oil ones? And how much should we take?
@VeganLinked
@VeganLinked Год назад
It's my understanding the algae based are as effective or maybe even better since they may be less likely to have as many toxins as fish since toxins bioaccumulate in their fat. And fish get their fatty acids from the algae anyways. But I'm kind of like why not just eat algae? Chlorella for example has such an awesome nutrient profile. We still don't know what an accurate test is and what that test even reflects so there's still much in here. Dr Tim Radak did a talk that is on my channel several years ago that's really thorough and the takeaway was we don't even need the supplement but I can't say for certain which way to go with it really because both sides are pretty convincing except it seems like the side that's against it at least Tim's perspective is more thorough than anyone else's so it's almost like I don't want to take it because I have yet to have anyone thoroughly convinced me that it is necessary. Dr Udo also has a fascinating talk on a different channel about it that basically said if you're alive you're converting it just fine lol. It seems like there are symptoms of insufficient dosage as well like dry elbows dry eyes or something like that and Udo is the only one who talks about that. And I don't have any symptoms at all. I did order Dr Fuhrman's test and I was going to take it and another lab test along with it just to compare them. For several years now I've been doing pretty good eating whole plant foods including seeds and nuts. I was basically going to do a very similar series of tests like Klaper did. Only after the test I was going to start doing seaweed to see if that would help and then test again 6 months to a year later. But the more I looked into it the more I realized how useless this might actually be. So I've had that test from Dr Fuhrman sitting in my office for 2 years now. As soon as things slow down I may go ahead and take the test. Test again after some time with seaweed and then test again after some time with an algae supplement. I really hope it's not necessary though because the supplements are super expensive and run the risk of going rancid.
@theodora_pilates
@theodora_pilates Год назад
@@VeganLinked I'd be interested in seeing your results. Cause I'm not sure either and they are pretty expensive so I'd want to be sure that they're at least effective. Especially after seeing Dr Klaper changing his mind about them, and mentioning the ineffectiveness of flax, etc on blood values. Similarly, how much seaweed for example would be effective? A sheet of nori a day? A week? I can't afford doing blood tests for every condition tried (and I do feel my eyes dry often!). Bryan Johnson (Blueprint protocol) takes a million supplements on top of his peculiar vegan diet and his omega 3s aren't vegan :/
@VeganLinked
@VeganLinked Год назад
@@theodora_pilates the way I look at it is if someone was going to eat fish they probably would only do it once or twice a week. So I assume supplementing once or twice a week maybe sufficient if you're going to supplement. But that's completely an assumption.
@VeganLinked
@VeganLinked Год назад
@@theodora_pilates I don't even really know what the point in the tests are if we don't know if they're good tests. It's my understanding there's no point in supplement for heart health but maybe for brain but we still don't know if the test really reflect what's going on in the brain at all. I imagine the algae supplement would be the best better-safe-than-sorry scenario. If I do go through with all these tests and experiments it may take a couple of years and I would probably share the results. But I don't know that it would really add up to meaning much. Anecdotal evidence here would be like shooting in the dark I guess

Cult tends to have a negative connotation. Can be good cults and bad cults. Comparing vegan to animal agriculture though and anyway is just completely wrong because vegans are not intentionally killing animals and ingesting them. So you can never say they're anything like an animal abuser/consumer. Even if the premise of their argument isn't based on science at the end of the day the one that didn't eat animals is always going to be the winner all else equal.
@thomasjohnlynch
@thomasjohnlynch 11 месяцев назад
@@VeganLinked I am a selfish unethical vegan. Its not about the animals (although realize I am saving them through my consumerism and NOT eating 300 lbs of meat a year) and its all about MY health. The vegan movement has 'turned off' many and Garth Davis wants to take the word vegan out of the discussion and I agree. There is a negative connotation I totally agree and the politics or the ethicsticity or semi-wokeness and activism is the proof. Its like the first rule about Fight Club?
@VeganLinked
@VeganLinked 11 месяцев назад
I totally understand what you're saying and why you feel this way. I processed this like a decade ago. The problem is, humans do this with everything, call it plant based and they'll taint it, call it vegan and it's already tainted, should I call this VeganLinked, should I use the word vegan in public, etc... But, the further I explore and the more I learn the better the word vegan becomes. It's perfect. The goal is to eventually not need the word vegan because we just all are. There is literally zero wrong with the word vegan, it only means we don't want to exploit animals and avoid to as much as possible. Sure, someone may have a negative perspective, but that comes with EVERYTHING. Like in Earthlings, Truth comes with ridicule, violent opposition, and finally acceptance. It doesn't matter what you call it, people will go through this because they're being challenged and having to change and lose something. And the stages of lose; denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. The negative connotation is par for the course. Eventually it will not have a negative connotation. We can change the verbiage but then we would have to start over explaining what the new thing will be and then all the negative connotations come back. So, rather than not call it anything which accomplishes nothing because no one will know what you're talking about, rather than call it something else and have to start over, I've been working to take veganism and normalize it. It's the perfect word really. And one day I hope we will reach a point where we no longer need it. But, for now, I'm defending it. Because the problem people have with it is their problem, their hang up, it isn't a vegans fault, it isn't the word's fault, sure, it's easy to imagine angry vegans, but I've been all over the country meeting hundred if not thousands of vegans and they are nothing at all like the negative connotation. The negative connotation is PROGRESS. It's like a few have shared, when someone gets bothered by you being vegan or the message that person has potential to change, that's step one toward becoming vegan. It's the ones that don't care at all who are the most challenging. If Garth has reservations with using the word vegan it's probably two things; one he's a professional and can't let ethics get in the way of his job and two he may have been influenced negatively by someone stupid like Sophia, Garth is great but he isn't perfect, no one is. So, he could be swayed by something as insignificant as Sophia, at least in the moment, empathize with her, and then say something like he doesn't want to use the word vegan. But, I couldn't care less about that... I'm dealing with a much bigger picture than any one person can paint. I love processing this with you though, fun conversations :) @@thomasjohnlynch

Now vegan my fasting sugar has been 110-115 for 8 years, hasn’t budged from that. A1c did go down to 5.2-5.3. Cholesterol total 105 ldl and hdl both 45 My concerns is my fasting sugar, since I’m now ready that insulin resistance is what causes endothelial damage “ artery plague or what ever” So can someone please help me figure this out 😂 I’ve been trying to reach out to vegan doctors, but can’t really find a way. I’m almost ready to go low carb just to get a better fasting sugar. One thing to mention is when I check my sugar throughout the day, even after I eat, it doesn’t go up high, maybe 150s after a meal, mostly less then that. But 2 hrs after meal it’s always around 100 Just seems like my sugar is always at the 100-110 range, “throughout the day. I just don’t want to become insulin resistant
@VeganLinked
@VeganLinked 10 месяцев назад
simply find a lifestyle medicine practitioner. Does your primary care physician have a problem with your bloodwork? It's my understanding insulin resistance often comes from saturated fat blocking insulin receptors. The foods you listed are a bit odd. I mean, for me they are. Like, I would never mention eating rice in a short list of foods I eat, you mentioned that first, and bread. Bread is not a whole food. It's ok on an occasion and the kind you're getting may be considered minimally processed. You don't appear to have a very well planned whole food plant based vegan diet. For example, you didn't mention the main categories much less anything from the most important ones; legumes and greens. Are you eating white rice or whole grain rice? You can try to go low carb and see if that helps but it doesn't sound like you tried the most straight forward thing. I think of it as 10 categories; legumes, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs & spices and A VARIETY OF EACH. I like to mention legumes and greens first because those may be the most important. A big salad every day is ideal with mixed greens, romaine, etc... and you can always throw some black beans, chicpeas, kidney beans, quinoa, etc... on your salad and bam two main categories out of the way for that meal. Some days I love to start off with a green smoothie made with kale, banana, nuts & seeds, pineapple, and a little orange juice. But most days thus far I've started off with steel cut or my favorite groat oats. Groat oats are a "whole food" whereas steel cut are very minimally processed (just cut) and rolled are processed and quick oats are very processed. Letting the oats cool makes their starches more resistant, rather than eating it hot. So, learn what the most whole foods are. Make sure you're getting all the categories. Beans have a "second meal affect". This means they can blunt the glycemic load from your next meal. Some people start off the day with lentils, tartary barely, etc. You can do lower carb vegan but once you start doing random experiments it may become messy. I'm not qualified to give you advice but it seems like you're needing to eat more legumes and greens. And if you need help consult a lifestyle medicine practitioner. Maybe try one of these sites: www.lifestylemedpros.org/home plantrician.org/ or maybe even my site: VeganLinked.com.

also, check out the daily dozen app by nutritionfacts.org it's free and backed by the most comprehensive analysis on nutritional science.
@VeganLinked
@VeganLinked 5 месяцев назад
So, how's it going? I personally think the order of things ideally would be legumes, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs & spices. You didn't mention legumes yet that's probably one of the more important things. You mentioned rice but there's a lot of other grains that may be better, are you eating whole grains? Nuts and seeds are great but they are last because they are small serving sizes and maybe a little with each meal, flax, walnuts, etc. Other things matter too like time of day, how much you're eating, pre-existing conditions, other things you're eating, etc... It's my understanding carbs don't cause insulin resistance, glucose rises because of insulin resistance, this doesn't mean glucose causes insulin resistance. You need to consult with your doctor who is testing you and ideally they'd be a lifestyle medicine practitioner. Otherwise consult someone via American College of Lifestyle Medicine or plantrician.org/ or Love.Life love.life/telehealth/ and consider other things like exercise, stress management, sleep, not doing drugs, etc... Vegan is not a diet, it is a philosophy. If you really are "vegan" then you will simply tailor this way of eating to your needs. If you need help consult someone that practices lifestyle medicine.

Is what, why he experienced health improvements? Vegan is a philosophy. It just so happens to be the healthiest foods are whole plant foods. So the closer he, or anyone properly eats a variety of whole plant foods the better they do. The more they veer off into more processed and hyperpalatable things the less healthy it is on every level from the microbiome to the rest of the planet because whole plant foods are also the most sustainable since autotrophs are most abundant, least toxic, no zoonotic diseases or pathogenic risks, not fostering violence, and plants are 20 fold more productive, and they're healthier since they have the perfect distribution of nutrients.

I have gone 95% whole food plant based just for spiritual and health reasons. From early childhood to last year I ate mostly fast food and processed foods and weighed 110-115lbs (I'm 4'10"). Now switching diets I like eating healthier but I feel no different from when I ate terribly. Same weight same blood test results as before. I had low iron before when I ate lots of meat and same now that I eat almost none and low vit d both then and now. Everything else is in perfect range. I'm currently 36. I want to know why this is.

@VeganLinked Год назад
The best way to hone in on your specific scenario is to consult with your personal doctor. How long you do things, what specific things you do and how consistently, both what you should or shouldn't consume. People I know, for iron, avoid tannins around meal times like from coffee and certain teas, eat a lot of greens every meal possible but not a lot of spinach, keep spinach low and get baby leaves if you can and lightly cook them to reduce oxalate as much as possible. But load up on greens raw, smoothies, and cooked. Pumpkin seeds are loaded with iron and can be great ground up in smoothies, or in salad and soup. Don't try to get a lot of iron in one meal but instead get what you can in each meal. Add ascorbic acid to your iron foods, like lemon or vinegar on your greens increases absorption significantly.

Vitamin D is from your body interacting with the Sun. You can get it from mushrooms that have had proper sun exposure. But most people may benefit from a supplement because we don't wake toz spend the day with and lay down to the sun. Indoors we develop that deficiency along with complexion and location. So you may need to simply supplement D

I've been carnivore for a month, and feel better than I ever have. I had the exact response this guy had going plant based. Cutting out all lectins, solanines, cyanogenic glycosides, etc have done wonders for me. Eating a proper human diet has been gamechanging. I'll still eat an occasional avocado, and maybe a tiny bit of greens here and there, but I try to avoid it all. You want fiber, might as well just eat sawdust, it's basically the same. It serves no purpose and provides no nutrition. So yeah, taking away sugar, and eating filler instead, will definitely help anyone, because you are eating less bad stuff. I'll stick to my meat!

@@MP-uq3zr There is a great deal of controversy about what our ancestors ate. However, since we have the jawbones, dentition, stomach acids and gut length of an herbivore, I believe our ancestry were plant eaters. If you look at recorded history, you will notice that most of the world’s people have been plant eaters. They could not afford to eat meat. Only a few cultures have been meat eaters: for instance the Inuit and the Masai. People. During the Roman Empire, the gladiators and soldiers were known as “barley men.” During the reign of the pharaohs, people ate wheat and beans. The rich people throughout history have enjoyed eating animals and they have been plagued with the diseases of affluence: gout, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Poor people died from starvation and disease. Today the western diet includes much animal foods. We are living longer and developing all the diseases of affluence. I believe our diet is the problem. In time science will prove me right or it may prove me wrong. In the meantime I will choose a WFPB diet. It is better for me personally, the planet as a whole, for mankind, and for the animals with which we share this planet.

Nike the Nutrivore, or Dr Nagra would be more appropriate people to ask. Or even Chris over at Plant Chompers. While they're following the research I'm following the stories of those following the research but also living this way. I'm a videographer. I do have a bachelor of science degree but in psychology, I did take a research and development class and statistics, but that was like 30 years ago lol. Dr Dean & Ayesha Sherzai may have done some work parsing out that variable, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine & Ornish may have as well. And image a quick search might. I'm not sure how the nurses health, epic oxford, Adventists health, broad, etc. studies controlled for that. what you're after may be a pipe dream, health doesn't happen in isolation, they have to control for a lot of variable and consider other studies and even which whole foods, minimally processed, ultra processed, exercise, drugs, sleep, stress management, social support are other variables as well to control for, just one mineral presumably kills more people than anything and that's salt. But, does it kill more meat eaters than vegans? Do vegans do best if they don't have salt, oil, or sugar and literally only whole plant foods such as legumes, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs & spices and a proper variety of each than a vegan that may not have the same knowledge of how to do this concerning proper food variety, preparation, and overcoming any barriers to access. Vegan is not a diet it is a philosophy. As such, there is no clear understanding of what people mean when they're talking about vegan as a diet. Corporations have adulterated it for profit with processed foods that may be fun done right or good for people in transition, but that's only if they find their way to the healthiest way of eating; if that's as I explained. And then there is nuance in that, algae may be advantageous as well and specific foods like alliums and cruciferous and dark greens and various mushrooms. Ultimately how do you proper compare? It's probably easy to look at meat and start seeing a pattern across animals. But, still, even with that, how do you pit both sides against the other sides best? Is raw meat better than cooked? certain meats have sialic acids that make the animal become a part of you and become inflammatory toward autoimmune diseases. Some meats have more saturated fats, etc. What you're looking for is futile really, in my perspective. We adapt to what we do. Evolution is the result of that over time. Those adapting to the lowest trophic levels I think will do best as it provides the most and cleanest energy and nutrient profiles, these are and will always be plants. Furthermore, they are the most abundant and most ethical and therefore least invasive and least violent. Obviously we can be vegan, this is absolutely empirically true. Even from conception, even mutli-generational. There are probably thousands upon thousands of studies on nutrition. From this for years we've seen evidence supporting the more plants the better the more animals the worse. Yet people don't follow this because their parents didn't have access to understanding the healthiest option. So, people habituate and perpetuate all they know. It's hard for people to change, even if what they're doing is killing them. You could do the same thing with smoking. And in fact they tried to in an attempt to confuse the public. But, that only lasts so long....

Animals are acidic. Are they eating pesticide laden grass? I don't know. Maybe they are bound up in stalls which stresses them. Maybe they are eating GMO grains. I do know that I am a whole lot healthier not eating meat at all. Sources say that we are alkaline beings that our bodies regulate between 7.35 pH and 7.45 pH. These are alkaline numbers. Eat too many acidic foods and the kidneys and liver have to filter out acids way too much, which puts a whole lot of stress on a body, leading to what are called colds and the flu and osteoporosis, etc.
