Lady Decade, you have great detective skills and lots of knowledge about Videogame Generations, so i would like to ask you something, you know about a recent clip that some streamers in YT and Twitch sometimes show that is from TikTok with a voiceline of a Woman saying "Subawooo"? that fooled many young people, cause i remember hearing that same line with the exact same voice in a older Videogame i played more than once, just don't remember the name of character or name of the Videogame, i think maybe a Beat em up or Fighting game, whenever you have time, you can investigate, cause i tried but in Google has no results
I used to be bullied for being a "nerd." Now the bullies have entered the nerd space, are infiltrating and mutilating my world away from this one and gaslighting me as the bully. I just wanna enjoy something outside of this crazy world we live in. I'm so exhausted. 😞
A lot of these bullies are nerds who got a power trip and have now become the very thing they were once victimised by. I've seen this behaviour in video games, playing D&D and in Sci-fi and fantasy fandoms. Sadly, some people who got bullied when they were younger take the nerd spaces and carve out their own sense of power over others. It's really quite sad to see.
I don't get it why people give a fuck what shitty game journalists think of a game. A shitty game journalist is a shitty game journalist. I've blocked IGN, Machinima and other shitty "journalists" for ages. It's not like there isn't plenty of good game journalists here on youtube who actually care about what they play.
@NeriaWolf Honestly outside videos like this one talking about it I'd never even know any of that stuff was being said. I certainly don't read IGN France, or IGN at all for that matter. Truth be told I mainly just play what's on Gamepass, PSPlus, or Humble Bundle at this point - and I don't need to read any reviews before playing any of those games.
I have never heard someone so politely destroyed in my life. The funny thing is the only ones fighting, is the media. The rest of us are simply supporting or not supporting the content we like or dislike. They just keep outing them selves over their own hype.

@@Viewable11 I like both. I don't need to play a male character in order to empathize with them. I have no issues playing as a woman, and will have no issues playing as Eve. We all share common emotions so it's not hard to relate to her. It's also nice to put myself in her shoes and experience the situations she could find herself in.

There are 2 reasons I pre-ordered: 1- Because it looks fun 2- To let the game industry that this is what we want. Not intrusive social identity messaging.
Guess I'm an outlier Cuz I'm an artist myself and I MOST definitely prefer more stylised and idealistic features in my media Stuff like that is what keeps me drawing, I don't REALLY do it for a living tho not rn anyways so maybe that's the disparity? Can't imagine this opinion ever changing tho
I paint myself, for myself and I also love artistic art style way more than realistic stuff (depends a bit on the game/movie/etc of course). For example I find games like Okami and the Bayonetta games to be some of the best looking games of all time.
Controversy aside: I had no idea this game was coming out. I just pre-ordered :-) Looks very platinum games’ish. Batonetta is probably my favorite brawler next to Devil May Cry’s and the original God of War Trilogy. This looks like Nier meets Metal Gear Rising and I’m super digging it.

I always thought that research into history and personality of a person who attempts to judge large groups of ppl and aggressively and intrusively push forward their narrative is very important and insightful as it might give you an idea about their ethical standards and pureness of their motives. And the part about differences in their entertainment preferences between different groups of ppl rather interesting and original I thought.
Lady Decade, I disagree with your reasoning about groups of people which "prefer feeling over facts" or vice versa. I think that there are people with narcissist personality disorder and people who don't have that disorder. Narcissists need all fictional characters to look exactly like themselves, while healthy people do not need that but instead want to have an ideal (heroic, strong, beautiful) fictional character to either aspire towards becoming or project themselves into. Narcissism is a personality disorder that is being promoted in the Anglo-Saxon world. Therefore this "culture war" only exists in the Anglo-Saxon world.
I think they can take what Kenny said and build on his storyline with the Elite. Basically reveal that their differences in opinion on how to handle talent relations caused a rift between Omega and The Bucks. Leak rumors of heat on Kenny and a falling out among members of the Elite. They have everything they need to make that feel real to people

At this point it should be clear to developers and publishers that the journalists are on the opposite side of the consumers so whatever they say should be taken as instructions on what to avoid putting into their games.

The game that IGN gave a low score can be considered a very interesting game! The first 3 letters of ignorant mean a lot! It's just ridiculous that someone like IGN would criticize a game that took 5 years of hard work to create.

If anything shows that Drucker did not even do the smallest amount of research on Stellar Blade it's his comment complaining 'naming the robot lady "Eve" like it's the first draft'. The game is heavily based on Judeo-Christian mythology and is pretty obvious it is in the first 15 minutes. Adam and Eve and the Alpha looking like a fallen angel. It becomes even more obvious once you watch a few trailers where you see biblical accurate looking angels and Nephelium, Eve being called Angel by the survivors.
I think there is space for both kinds of games and gamers. What I mean is, the "Realism" vs "Idealistic" argument. However, I would argue that those currently claiming Realism in gaming, specifically game "journalists" and AAA game dev studios mostly, aren't pushing Realism, at least as far as Female characters go. They claim it's hard to face scan a person and put it into the game accurately. But that doesn't seem to be a problem with Male characters. In fact the male characters in a lot of recent games are amazingly well done and accurate to the actor. Female characters though (Star Wars Outlaws being a good very recent example) are specifically changed to appear more masculine and significantly different from the actress, usually making them very ugly from a traditional beauty sense. Men are still overtly large and muscular in many games, women are getting more blocky and man like. "Realism" right now is in actuality "Un-reality." I do like games that have a realistic bent to them as far as things like physics and how people actually look and react. I haven't been seeing that lately though. Also, I'm one of those dweebs who pre-ordered Stellar Blade. Yeah, Eve was hot for like ten minutes then I realized, "hey...this game kicks ass and is all sorts of fun!" Kinda forgot about how Eve looked after that. Game is just good!
I didn't want to get Stellar Blade at all. Sure it looks fun, but I don't enjoy Souls-type games (when I play I like it easy),.. and I love Nier: Automata, one of the best games I've ever experienced. But now I feel like I need to stand with my type of people; gamers that enjoy fantastic experiences and love the escapism it offers. Stellar Blade will have a place in my evergrowing backlog of purchased-not-yet-played-games for sure.
I remember the first trailer of Stellar Blade from a few years ago. I think it might have been either at the PS5 reveal show or around that time. Yes Eve was strikingly gorgeous, but the gameplay and graphics looked great. I've kept the game in mind since then, and I've seen other gamers talk about it during the time between this reveal and now. So, no. The accusation that no one paid attention to this game until recently is false and can be proven quite easily. Making up all these fake claims is downright shameful. And trying to reduce people down to cavemen and using strawman arguments is pathetic. All this shows a complete and utter lack of respect and people hate being disrespected.

The war over hot women in videogames is stupid because there shouldn't be one. Nobody should be forced to make a character Not hot or Not ugly; if it's a good character with a good story (not influenced by stupid political message and/or influence just to push an agenda IN A FRIGGIN VIDEOGAME!!!) it's totally great to have whatever character fits best. Ultimately there is nothing wrong with conveying messages through media even "political" ones but to pretend one is not when it actually is is the peak of hypocrisy and gaslight and an insult to people's intelligence

It's gaslighting 101. Make target of your argument question their judgement, adequacy etc. Which if it happens compromises your opponent's ability to effectively construct their argument and disrupts thought process. I was target of this multiple times, it usually employs ridicule tactics to present it as your inadequacy. Which is easy to do, because I 100 percent agree that what is happening is rather bizarre, the fact that legacy media in its entirety seems to be comprised of radical left activists is bizarre, that creeps and weirdos seem to be in position to attempt and educate ppl on questions of ethics and morality is bizarre etc. It's rather remarkable how consistantly lopsided media's coverage of this topic was and is, how ideologically charged and narrative driven it is, across the board, every single outlet did that with complete and negligence towards journalist integrity, ethics and professionalism. I feel like that in itself is more telling than anything we can muster. So yeah, it's important to learn to recognize this for what it is. And as far as existence of Stellar Blade is a proof that power is in the hands of gamers argument goes, let's not forget that it's a Korean game and it reflects Korean culture, and it have little to do with multicultural hellscape Western culture has become. And let's not pretend that those radical activists are not actively trying to sabotage different cultures as well, which is most evident from what was and is happening with Japanese entertainment industry.
I'm happy to see more lady gamers defending Stellar Blade. I could understand if this game was just cheesecake and bad gameplay but it's Shift Up. If you know who Shift Up are - they're known for the beautiful women, yes, but they are also known for an intriguing story and excellent gameplay. I'm happy to see the defense around this is strong and thank you for adding to the voices about how a game like this should be something great for all of us.
Gaming journalists are bitter that their opinions are not placed on a pedestal because they have a journalism degree, and are increasing seen as legacy and irrelevant. They are probably also bitter that they couldn't get their dream job and have settled for writing about games to make ends meet. They then inject their politics and bitterness into everything they write
If he’d just said that the culture war is stupid, we could have agreed and got back to playing games in peace. But instead he chose to gaslight people with the claim that it is all one sided. Some of the comments in favour of the character design are pretty hysterical too though. Even to the point of making it sound like this is the only type of female character gamers should accept and disparaging other quality designs.
It has to be a psychological issue with these people. I don't know how you can write crap like like this and still think you're the good guy. The tone of the article is one thing, but he completely missed (if not completely ignored all together) an entire aspect of the "culture war over hot video game characters" and still thinks it's everyone else that is stupid.

There are women who are born visually attractive and physically attractive people that complain about this and say society is bad for this are the ones who can’t make themselves socially attractive so they need someone or something to blame.
I dont remember people having this much issue with bayonnetta when 3 came out. And bayonnetta is much more unrealistic and over the top than stellar blade.

It is very reassuring to see how well Stellar blade is doing. I think It can thank the woke journalists for a big part of it's success for creating the controversy that boosts sales. In part they have made people feel like buying this game is a vote against woke, judgemental fascist who want to ruin all our fun. and in part for making a larger slice of the gamming market curious as to what all the fuss is about. I don't own a ps5 but If stellar blade is ever released on PC I will most certainly buy a copy for the sake of voting with my wallet.

If you don't like beauty in games, don't buy those games. Trying to make them unavailable for other people will gain you a significant amount of well-deserved hate. If there was a cadre of hardcore gamers who hated pretty models, I'd understand them taking action, but those like Sweet Baby Inc don't even play the games. It would be like me getting linkedin to display all journalists' content in comic sans.
So this person probably doesn't even care about video games but just sees writing paychecks, rage bait in particular. I feel old and remember when conservatives were much more anti gaming. It changed but people like Matt Walsh, who are condescending towards enjoyers of games and anime, still exist as well
I feel like there are plenty of legitimate things to resent gaming communities for, but this ain't it. I think games journalism has forgotten that it is basically a type of hobby journalism, which acts mostly as marketing for whatever industry backs it with some of their own personality mixed in. And I don't even mean that as a bad thing, running, horse riding and dance magazines are all like this, and I've learned and been recommended great things by them. But their journalists don't carry the same level of self importance these guys do, even when soapboxing their own grievances with aspects of the industry or comsumer-base.
I will say that this game is really, really sexy. And of course, there's going to be you know. Those guys out there that go a little overboard, but there are a lot of games that are like that. Believe or not, this is just the first one of this generation that has a very, very hot character. So you know, of course, a journalist has to take advantage and try to make up random stuff just to come at people that are blown away by the amazing attractive eve.
