Another Sword & Fairy, Zhao Liying/Yin Fang New Drama, Short Dramas Everywhere  

I am also the one who doesn’t often watch short dramas. Yet since I like Zhao Yiqin and Shen Yujie, I started watching “ Hard to find” and now I am hooked to it so much that I am watching it second time again. The actors gave so much justice to their roles and I hope they reunited in bigger projects.

I've been watching more and more of the short dramas lately. Their production value has noticeably improved over the last couple of years. It's obvious they've started to put more money into them. I have to say, I'm really enjoying the short dramas with better scripts and budgets they seem to be producing these days. Of course there are still plenty of the crappy ones being made too, but I've noticed an improvement overall.

AvenueX, I must say that after seeing a couple of your videos about you, I think/feel that you are an exceptional woman that I like a lot, Carry On !

A lot of the short drama nowadays are actually a lot more interesting to watch than high budget longer drama. I've been finding myself enjoying short drama nowadays. Currently watching Fate of Broom Star and Lucky Star and Secrets of the Shadow Sect, and enjoying it so far

Lately I had saw a lot of short dramas ( and also now)....believe me most of them are better from the other dramas from big producers with famous actors and actresses......and I enjoy them .......also when the dramas completed ( the episodes) they make them again like a movie ( all episodes together)......China's dramaland most of the times has a fever.....( 😂😂😂).....and yes most of the times agree with your opinions and your comments about the dramas....( it was your work before....) and you know better than me and everyone else.......I enjoy your videos they have a lot of informations.......😊😊😊 Thank you again for your work and be well.....❤❤

I agree with you on the short dramas. I've tried to watch a few, but I think I only finished one or two. It is not like I don't know how they are going to end. When I was in Junior High I used to read Barbra Carland Regency romances, they were all really the same book after book. I can't imagine reading one now. That is how I see these short dramas. I think they must be targeted at busy students.

I'm one of the bee that buzzing inside the hot bubble of short drama 😅 I even watch the tiktok, very low budget, low quality, ridiculous plot type of short drama. Maybe because like you said, it's fascinating and 'easy'. I can watch it while commuting or when come home from work, before going to bed or immediately after wake up. But, you do you. Just keep doing what comfortable for you, what you good and confidence at. I believe your expertise, experience, honest independent review, will still have place and keep you going.

You should test this Sword and Fairy "1". I think it's quite high-quality production. the costume, the CG, and the fighting scenes are nice. It received 1 point plus from me, for actually get wet and jump into REAL water 😂

I have been avoiding short dramas thus far, but that might change. The long dramas are usually the opposite end of the spectrum: there's not enough story to fill the 40 episodes, so they add all sorts of side characters and unnecessary side plots to use the time (and i end up skipping/fasting forward thise scenes). Maybe the short dramas would be a good switch up to enjoy a condensed, focused story? 🤔

I'm happy and glad for the casting of this Sword and Fairy "1". They're underrated even though some of their drama is my comfort drama that I often re-watch - He Yu (My Fated Boy) - Xu Hao (Girlfriend) - Li Chuan (My Little Happiness) - Hu Yixuan (Unforgettable Love, A River Runs Through It) - Yang Yutong and Ye Shenjia, see them here and there, Hopefully this drama is a breakthrough for them. They're not too famous, no unnecessary fandom talk, they're not overshadowing anyone with one's popularity, the chemistry between 6 main character are actually good, the 3 couple love stories are also believable and cute. I can just relax and enjoy their journey.

If you're interested in disassociative identity disorder dramas, go for Murder Diary (2021) by Hongkong TVB. Vincent Wong, Kara Wai and Benjamin Yuen were great in their acting.

难寻 is so so good!! I'm watching it every day as it comes out. Finished the other one Fortune writer 执笔，it's weaker imo, many loopholes in the plot, albeit an interesting set up. It only escaped the fate of a flop drama due to its short length, not too much time wasted

I can see that there is a place for short drama's. I'm sure they're good when you want entertainment on your commute or in a lunch break. I'm retired, however, so they don't do anything for me...especially those that run at 5 minutes or less per episode.

There’s some pretty decent short drama lately that really surprised me. I’ve been watching Fortune writer and I went in with 0 expectations and was so surprised by the plot and the quality of cinematography for a short drama. It’s rare to have a short drama that made me notice some interesting shot and scene choices. It surprised me for sure. It became more than a romance and I was pleasantly surprised. But I haven’t reach the end so who knows bc these short dramas kinda nose dive in the last ep so who knows. There’s a lot of constraints as well bc of the former, I wish I can get a full series of this story. So many book travel type of drama, very few actually get interesting. I’m very impressed with this actresss. She def try to choose good projects as she’s doing more and more

I think short dramas become trend as to keep up with the youth these days. They are so used to quick easy self-explained content. It will be be hard to ask them to think or to be patient with long form and complicated storytelling.

Sorry you are leaving historical dramas behind. I'm not ready yet, but I have been moving over to historical Kdramas quite often.

Fortune Writer is pretty good for a short drama.

would be nice to see Hu Ge make a cameo in Chinese Paladin remake, but the man is very famous so very unlikely that he will. Xiao Yao Tan as the end credit music is just a pure trip to the memory lane.

Excited for all 3 upcoming dramas. I doubt City of the city will have english sub. I have binged (skipping mostly) the 2 sword and fairy dramas aired in January and am highly disappointed. Now there's another one. Though I like the FL but I am a bit skeptical to start with this one. As for short dramas, my fav ones are from the production of Provoke, Butterflied lover etc. Recently I have watched many short dramas. They are not all worth the watch. I even forgot their names and story. zi even watched a few 2-5min short dramas but gave up midway. Not for me. Please suggest me some good ones.

I really didn't like short dramas, too tiring, just 6 minutes or even 2 minutes, n already the credit title. And they used to be very segmented, even the posters were easily spotted. Thank goodness, nowadays they are vary in plot, and longer around 8-12 minutes, and many of my beloved actors/actresses cast in them, giving me the desire to watch, now I can bear 6 minutes lenghth, but still no way for less😅 Daisy Li was involved in many short dramas, I watched some of them, and I believe she is sharpening her acting skill through those different characters.

PS To my previous comments: having chips on one's shoulder or being nostalgic for what was the norm 20 years ago for me are demerits in a "qualified" reviewer. Naturally, this provisio does not apply if the consumer of the 'review' happens to "share" the "bias" of the reviewer.

Think of the short drama's as basically a longer movie but they just break it up into 10 to 15 min segments. You don't have to sit through more than 30 episodes generally. This way you won't have wasted so much of your life in trying to watch a 40 episode drama that really isn't worth it.

I read that this Sword and fairy is better. Not sure if it is true. I would like to watch your review about it

Oh, the multiple personalities disorder reminds me of a very good oldie kdrama Kill Me Heal Me which I loved. It was about a guy with 7 personalities, and one of them was also a girl. Could it be a remake?

Watching a lot of mini dramas since those last couple of years. "Fortune writer" was ok for me but I felt the 2nd part could have been more solid and ML acting was kinda lacking a bit. So far I like "Hard to find" and Hopefully it stays strong. It seems people are getting tired of the bigger and more ressourceful drama market that is filled with underperforming outputs on the quality side and they are tired of seeing the same overhyped and overpaid popular young actors/actresses with mid acting skills and mid charisma.
