Granger, I don’t know if you remember me, Mrs. Goodwin who taught you in pre-AP sophomore English class at Lake Highlands High. But I wanted to let you know that I’m following you and your family on this, and I’m incredibly proud of you. It’s funny, but your face has hardly changed at all from when you were 16, those kind eyes of yours, but I guessed back then that you would make a fine grownup. And, sure enough, it seems you have. God bless you and your family in your coming days and continue to comfort you in your loss. Lots of people are watching and listening...including this old retired English teacher!

A cardinal is a representative of a loved one who has passed. When you see one, it means they are visiting you. They usually show up when you most need them or miss them. They also make an appearance during times of celebration as well as despair to let you know they will always be with you

Our youngest son had a deep connection to my mom. In January we lost my mom to breast cancer and my youngest was devastated. He would get so sad and cry. I swear y'all I prayed daily asking for help on how to help him through it. Then one day he woke up and he said momma I saw mimi last night and she said not to be sad anymore. He hasn't been super sad since he talks about her all the time and we talk about her to keep her memory alive. I wish y'all so much comfort and strength on your hard days. Y'all are such a great family and my boys sure love watching the smiths with us! Keep it up, Love y'all!

I love hearing the wind chimes in the background. I have always been told that when you hear wind chimes it's your loved one making their presence known!!

I think it's amazing you want to write a childrens book on loss. My aunt told me in june when I lost my grandfather that I needed to write one about losing a grandparent because we couldnt figure out how to explain to the little ones what was happening. We still havent actually.

When I was leading grief groups, we always said that we should be having a driver for a year after the loss of a child for our concentration is just not the same. Give yourself a pass...it was just a tree. Thinking of you and the family.

Cardinals have always been my sign of loved ones! Once you start paying attention it’s insane. On my birthday I pulled into the drive way & there were two playing in my parking spot and I pulled up & they never flew away. I just sat & watched :) it’s amazing. When I was little I asked my aunt when she had cancer what her sign would be to me & she told me a red bird & I’ve walked into doors of snow & there were 10 red birds playing in the snow. Gods creations ❤️ y’all are a inspirational family & I enjoy watching y’all!!! 🥰

We get pairs of Cardinals in our backyard all the time here in Michigan. We've had a first-year male Cardinal consistently coming to our feeders this year and with all his bright red feathers coming in he makes me think of Riv. It reminds me of him laughing hysterically after doing donuts on his Deere. Love y'all and we love hearing how y'all are doing.

We lost our daughter Lori who was 2&1/2 yrs young. Losing a child is hard/ very hard. I want to write to you guys one day but until then I know you’ve probably been told to just breathe. They told me that years ago when Lori first passed away.... some days if all you can do is take a breath n let it out n take another then your doing what you can that moment. My heart is with you! Y’all are such a wholesome and beautiful family. You’re so right, it’s really hard not to completely lose yourself/your relationship when you go through something so hard. I lost my dad a little over a year ago in a mysterious accident, I was pregnant at the time and have since had my daughter and it’s really difficult to grieve and still be a productive member of society AND raise babies. Watching y’all, hearing your advice and the ways you cope, seeing how well the kids are doing is really inspiring and makes me hopeful. Amber, I really hope you write that book and maybe the kids could even help with the illustration of it all, so it’ll be their book too. ❤️ Also, love how down you earth your family is with the compost, earth farm, chickens, bees, etc! It’s awesome. I hope y’all let us know when you plan to sell or give away some of that local Texas honey cause I’d love some here in ATX, especially with cold season upon us! It's funny you talking about the armadillo, I live in Dallas and where I'm at you see so many possum, & armadillo, on the side of the road died. I had a baby possum inside a 13 gallon trash can in my alley drive way that got left behind by its mom. Anyway things like that people that don't live in Texas find so odd/crazy lol. Listening to your answer about the kids having hard days, I just had an insight about grief. From the perspective of your 5-year old it is sooo different, because he never "expected" necessarily to have River by his side his whole life, he was just in the moment, enjoying his brother (or not 😉) and that's it. No big dreams or ideas about their future together. He kind of doesn't really 'know' it's abnormal for someone to disappear like that. He will of course miss him sometimes, but he didn't loose that imagined future. Of course, we also miss them horrendously in the "now" 😢 Nothing to do with expectations, just wanting them to be here, now, here 😔💙💜🖤

I just love how no matter how much time you guys spend apart y'alls relationship is still strong as can be!💜 Granger, would you and your band ever consider coming down to the Mercedes Benz Superdome? I would love to see you in concert and wouldn't want any other band to be my first!

I discovered you with dirt road driveway and when 4x4 ep came out you instantly topped brantley gilbert and rascal flatts for me...I literally didn't take it out my trucks CD player for a long time. All your songs have a place in my heart but backroad song is my favorite song along with my wish by rascal flatts. Some rough nights backroad song is the only thing that got me through or got me to sleep. I ❤ that you two love each other and trust each other so much. It's rare in this world. My husband and I have been married for 30 years and he was my high school sweetheart. It's beautiful to see your love. Even in this difficult season. Also just want to give Granger a shout out. My daughter and 7 year old grandson saw you in Bend, Oregon a few months ago. You took a selfie with them. Thank you. That meant a lot to them both. My daughter is a single mom, she drove 4.5 hours one way after work to make sure her son got to see you. They also have been suffering from the loss of a special person in their life. It's been difficult. You made it better. Your music made it better. They loved the concert, even in the rain 💙 God bless!
