I used to be so excited for the next MCU movie. I remember watching the Incredible Hulk in theaters and my 10 year old brain being blown away at the implications. 15 years later I’m so burnt out with these movies and shows. I’ve stopped watching them in theaters because everyone is so loud at the slightest bit of humor or the obvious plot element that was coming. I used to enjoy most of them and now I enjoy a few of them. I’ll click on marvel pages on Instagram and Twitter and see how almost every fan say that each movie in pase four is a 10, 9, or 8.5. I was very disappointed with the multiverse of madness due to Sam raimi being back and seeing what would happen with Wanda but it was so bland and not as horror fueled as was being said. Don’t even want to talk about love and thunder. I was only slightly disappointed with wakanda forever only because my expectations were low but they were still too high. It’s sad to see where it is considering how it was just a few years ago.

Yeah, they just dont care if the movie is ambitious or not, as long as it has lasers going on. They forget that you can have a deep story and a bunch of lasers going around. Still, they are not worse than those Twitter fanboys who get excited for the most average stuff. They just accept the most basic stuff and then try to put it on the pedestal like its some great thing. Their level of excitement often makes them blind to the more important issues of the films. Cant believe there is more "basic shakers" than the fans who can love something, yet still recognize when it goes down.

@@stormy6029 Here is the thing, the comics MCU is based around have some decent stories, Disney doesnt have to dumb them down. Marvel should feel wrong that movies like Kung Fu Panda, Puss in Boots or anything Dreamwork has ever produced, have more depth than the live action sci fi movies they do. Unfortunately, we have people who accept the most basic stuff, who dont realize that you can have fun in a movie, why it still remains deep. The dreamworks movies I listed are the perfect example of how to balance fun and deep moments, MCU doesnt have that.

I think errant humor can and has hurt a lot of Marvel movies, but I think that Ant-Man has always balanced that out quite well. He's a less serious guy and he's often doing less serious things, and that's a lot of fun and works for the character. I think this movie rode the line well for the most part, b/c like you said, when Kang is on screen (ie real shit is going down), no one's having a fun time. The humor kept the movie feeling like Ant-Man, without compromising that there were real stakes and danger. For myself, I really loved it. @@MrBrock314 True, it’s possible for a prominent actor to also be underrated. But in these cases of going “upwards” in the business so quickly, I like to think it’s somewhat related to them being discovered and appreciated by an exponentially growing group of viewers.

Depends on your definition of subpar. By most objective standards (money grossing, reviews, etc), the MCU is above par 95% of the time. Only Eternals has a negative rotten tomato review (with critics, specifically, it was still 77% by audience standards). Even TLA (which got a lot of hate online last year) has a 77% audience score. That's not subpar at all.

@@MrBrock314 For the life of me, I don't understand why fans/moviegoers use money grossed as a metric to determine the quality of a film. I'd understand if you worked for the studio, or had a role in the movie... but.. more than likely, you don't. With that logic, because a studio invested the most money in a film/show ever, that product should be considered top tier as well. No... doesn't matter, nor does it make sense.

About that song... I listened Elton John's Your Song, Nikita and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (in that order), on my way from work. Stopped by somewhere, saw the trailer was just released... It wasn't until when Cassie asked, 'Where are we?', then I heard, 'When are you gonna come down?' AND I LOST IT! I did everything but scream out loud, because I was in a public place. Listening to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road before watching the trailer, is the reason I will be seeing it this weekend!

This was a really great review. I looked at this movie like Ant-Man and the Wasp times 2. It wasn't just Scott and Hope, but also Janet and Hank, and they all did hero type shit. That was pretty sweet, just that alone, but Kang stole the movie. Hands down. You're spot on though, when it comes to the quippiness and everything having to be funny, and so many other things. I'll say this, it was far better than Love and Thunder. I had a good time with this movie, warts and all. P.S. I liked that MODOK was lame because he's lame in the comics and he's always been lame so it makes sense lol. He's always been a joke. Anyone who gets mad about that, I don't know what to tell you.
@jaguar1224

Modok being lame was great but it wasn’t consistent with Darren Cross’ character. Plus his redemption arc came out of nowhere and was shoehorned last second. Still enjoyed his time on screen though.

@@jaguar1224 The whole thing was a joke and the way they played it, it was supposed to be that way. Inconsistent with his character? He was stuck for years in the quantum realm as a giant head lol. Come on now. Character changes. Especially under extenuating circumstances.

I saw Devotion (2022) in theaters a few months ago and can say Jonathan Majors is a serious dramatic actor, so it's good they don't make a joke out of him. One Scott part that really worked for me - until they undercut it with Baskin-Robbins Scott reappearing - was when the probability zone fails cos all the thousands of Scotts suddenly work together to get real Scott out, because the one thing that is true in every probability is Scott's love for Cassie

I’m 22 on the 22nd and I hate the new trend of giving every character a comedic relief role. There’s no time to let drama or emotion to seep in. It’s why I loved Avatar 2 as it was so earnest, and allowed the audience to feel genuine emotion for a while (that ending 😭) - I hope I’m not being a grumpy fuck here 😂😂
