@@robholloway6829 probably 4th constituent or a "dominion". The LegCo being dissolved in favor of a new "Hong Kong Parliament", Hong Kong Police who joined the protests/defected to rebels become nucleus of a self-defence force.
As a Hongkonger I would say that us becoming independent and joining the commonwealth would be the best for us probably, and we would be most honoured to join if allowed
@@kenlandon6130 When the British ruled Hong Kong, they never gave the people the right to vote and they never had freedom. What kind of democracy are you talking about?
It’s not that China mistreated Hong Kong, But to many Hong Kongese, It’s unfair for one of the world’s biggest city-states to be occupied by a distance Communist Central Government in a Nearby Country. That’s one of the Reasons Hong Kong wants Independence from China.
Most HongKongers would prefer to be back as a British Colony than with China, but tbh we need to try and do more and keep our promise to the people of Hong Kong
Those were the days when there were ALL CIVIL LIBERTIES and the RULE OF LAW in Hong Kong guaranteed for ALL her inhabitants equally and unconditionally. God save the Queen. Now it's time to add something: DEMOCRACY. I'm sure Her Majesty would be more than happy to see a democratic Hong Kong.😊
They played this as the British flag is lowered on he day of Handover. Its really depressing to see British rule go. Hong Kong could have been an oversees teritory instead where the government is elected by HK people, but the defence and foreign affairs are handled by the British instead.
I can't express enough the hurt and shame of what was decided as to Hong Kong's fate. Even 20 years later, it still tears at the heart that we couldn't do anything else. I personally, will always carry that sorrow like a stone in my heart, having been there in a personal role on behalf of the Crown..
@@alwellus It's sad. I hope Britain goes back to Hong Kong. Where the sun rises and the crowds cheer as the royal marines and the new Government go on HK island. I have hope.
@@cricketman1322 It would be nice, but I'm afraid, my good friend, we lived at time when history turned a page, and the good of the turned page did not follow on the new page. For your sake and that of the people of Hong Kong, may you live to see that come true. GOD Bless for your kind message and sharing of treasured memories - my time there were and will be, the high point of my government service for cousin, Queen and country.
@@alwellus Thank you for your service. I talk to Hong Kongers who work in Britain and they all say they want Britain back. A glimmer of hope is there. It will be like the end of the Dunkirk film if Britain goes back. I am sorry we couldn't do more for Hong Kongers.
Sad to see the lion give away the imperial pearl, but if that gives HK the hope for a better future, endure it now, so you will gain a bigger, better pearl for all Asia.
@@talsamChan Says a lot that they wrote "Glory to Hong Kong", instead of playing "Highland Cathedral." It seems the Hong Kong folks don't so much want the British back, but simply to be free.
#GloryforHongKong2019.. coincidentally,. why shouldn't hong kong be independent if protests are insurging the government.., i mean THEY are a british-.colony.. also why not instead make a referendum whether hong-.kong should be independent, still be part of britain or either by china.. that way everything should be equal and the people would have to vote for theirselves.. instead about thinking handing hong kong over to the chinese-.mainland..
I do with Mrs T tried to negotiate with the Reds to keep hold of it. Im sure it would have involved a huge financial package/blood money. But better than what is now in place
At this time the Police is the one that protects your rights and bravely fighting for you. Sadly today because of communist China that is no longer the case
This song has a lot of Chinese features, it sounds like that the British composed it just for China. (Forgive me for saying 'British' instead of Scottish, I know those living on highland are Scottish, but not British)
July 1, 1997 was the saddest day in Hong Kong History, Hong Kong was torn away from the British Empire and Taken Over By China. Before that Day The Hong Kongese People were happy, Free, loyal to the British Crown, and a happy City-State. 🇬🇧 🇭🇰 😃 However, since 1997, The Hong Kongese have suffered from the clutches of Communist China. They are sad because they are not free anymore, They tried many attempts for an independence referendum and rejoin the British Commonwealth, But China has rejected every one of them, the Hong Kongese have no representation in the Chinese National People’s Congress. China Keeps Saying The Hong Kongese Are Free by using a stupid phrase known as “One Country, Two Systems”, But In real life, they are actually suffering from the hands of Marxism-Leninism. What was once one of the happiest countries in the world is now suffering from Communist Tyranny. 🇨🇳-----🇭🇰 😭 💦 But that is about to Change, Hong Kong Will Declare Independence from China and Fight for it. Hong Kong will have a big alliance to help him fight against the vile selfishness and greed of Communist China. China will be forced to recognize The Republic of Hong Kong as an independent Country! Hong Kong Will Be A Democracy Part Of The Commonwealth with Britain, Canada, India, Australia New Zealand And Many Other Nations, be loyal to the British Crown, an Independent City-State, A Big Ally with America, And once again be one of the happiest Countries in the world! #freehongkong
We gonna die before that happens same with the ROC it won't be able to take back the mainland, we let our ancestors down especially San Yat sen who led us to be free only to have that ripped from us from the dirty communist pigs.
HongKongese here, I would said even I was born after 1997 I can felt that Hong Kong seems no longer be the same as before, the mainlander start imagining from China and not gonna join into our family but against the culture we have lasted for more than 150 years and the PRC Government start abandoning using Cantonese to teach Chinese language, the sadness that I saw when I back to Hong Kong I heard many youth are studying at school were not speaking Cantonese
