Anthony Joshua - The Path to Tyson Fury

Is Anthony Joshua on a path that will lead to a showdown against Tyson Fury? Anthony Joshua has now won 4 in a row since losing his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk. Joshua has been winning and strategically positioning himself as a logical opponent for the winner between Fury and Usyk for the undisputed world heavyweight championship, especially in the event that Fury is the one who emerges victorious in his upcoming rivalry against Usyk. The winner of the Fury vs Usyk fight will theoretically produce the first undisputed world heavyweight champion since the great Lennox Lewis last held that distinction. Meanwhile, Anthony Joshua has won 4 in a row to get back on a winning streak, where Joshua has beaten Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin, and most recently he scored a dramatic knockout against Francis Ngannou. Is a showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua inevitable? And if it happens would it perhaps be the biggest boxing event during the long rich history of the sport?

Lol 2 of his last 4 fights are jokes. A UFC turned boxer with a record before the fight of 0-1 and a replacement fighter thrown in last min. Two fight win streak is fine but let's not act like it's a four fight streak against all top tier opponents.

To be honest Parker only feels slightly short of the top 3 now, before it felt long gone. If he shows more of his speed and ferocity in the next fight and makes it completely unanimous I can see him putting on some real pressure to the top 3 We know a fit strong Parker certainly doesn't stay down, and he displayed some real speed and skill in short bursts.

Making a fight with Fury is the boxing equivalent of 'going down the rabbit hole.' Okay, we'd all love to see it, but can any of us ever imagine it actually happening? I definitely can't. I can imagine Fury releasing videos calling AJ out, and it may even reach the 'announcing the fight' stage, but that will almost certainly be where it ends. If Fury wins undisputed, he will probably continue his game of sitting on the title and enjoying it without actually fighting any viable challengers.
@chonqmonk
@chonqmonk 3 месяца назад
If Fury is actually training his ass off and his head's in the right place, he could win this. That would be amazing in itself. But then there'll be the auto-rematch, and he can't coast into his bag of milk suit and expect to win, and I bet *IF* he's really training and wins this one, the rematch will never happen as the Gypsy rides off into the sunset with new belts and his lineal title, forever. In case of this, AJ and Usyk could meet for a 3rd time, belts will be wherever alphabet soup sees green, and decades from now someone might unify enough titles to start a new lineal title....but I'd have to be quasimodo to know how all that works out.

It's literally the biggest fight that can be made and he's pretty much admitted he's only about the money at this point.

Tbh I was critical with Franklin and Helenius, and even if Ngannou and Wallin weren't the best opposition - he flew through them with no problem. I don't think anyone thought AJs skills were poor, or he was physically anything other than a beast - what was holding him back was mental. These two wins demonstrate he's beaten his demons.
@boxinggospel5334
@boxinggospel5334 3 месяца назад
not until we see him in a competitive fight where he gets hurt or tired will we know that he wont quit again like against Ruiz or fold mentally as he did in Usyk 2. These type of non opposition he is facing now are not going to help him come Uuyk or Fury fights. However those fights likely wont happen as if Usyk wins I see him retiring, why would he want to stay just to fight Joshua again after beating him twice anyway. If Fury wins he will retire and then probably unretire later claiming to be lineal champion and then rematch Nganou.
@guntguardian3771
@guntguardian3771 3 месяца назад
@@boxinggospel5334 Sometimes it's not the competition, it's how you put them away. He put Wallin away like he was a journeyman. Ngannou too. Plus you can see the mindset difference since Franklin where he had a meltdown after getting a decision.

Completely agree Rummy. AJ's rebuilding has been a fun journey to watch unfold. The man has made an excellent case for himself with the wins over common Fury opponents. I'm hoping that regardless of the outcome of Usyk-Fury, we see him and Fury get in the ring. Whether Fury comes into the fight undefeated or with a loss or two against Usyk doesn't matter to me, Fury-Joshua is a damn fine fight and one that needs to happen. Another great vid! I have been really tough on A.J. in the past, but he has been very impressive since his last loss against Usyk. He has been putting in the work and it shows. I think this version of AJ is a far better boxer all around than the one from before his defeats. I think that fighters who have been champions have a choice to make when they loose for the first time, and AJ has made his choice. He wants to be the best and is willing to go through the pain and sacrifice it takes to get those belts back. I have an unpopular opinion about a certian heveyweight legend by the name of Muhammad Ali that could be considered a bit of a hot take (no one agrees with me so far on this, so I will put it out here). The 1974 version of Ali that beat George Forman in Ziare was a better and more dangerous version of the champ than the pre-exile one. Crazy, I know, but his loses and struggles made him a tougher, meaner, smarter fighter IMO and even though the younger version of Ali was far faster and harder to hit, I don't think that young Ali was as dangerous. Of course, he declined rapidly after 74-75, but my point is that AJ seems to be learning the hard lessons from all of the struggles he has gone through to this point and is a visably better fighter for it. Fury struggled against Ngannou a UFC fighter who he was supposed to smash. He looked un-prepared and got dropped. AJ went in and took Ngannou to school, beating the breaks of the man and all the while looking slick and poised. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Also imagine this- while Fury/Usyk sort their business, Joshua goes on to fight both Hrgovic and a rematch against Parker?? Possibly grabbing the soon to be made vacant IBF belt in the process? That would push the winner of Fury/Usyk's rematch even more towards Joshua if he wins both those previously mentioned fights. Risky for Joshua but boy would that be entertainment.

Watching this from Rummy was great and fair to AJ. But it really just drove home for me just how great of a boxer Oleksandr Usyk really is. He just has to stay focused and beat fury. Which total confidence he will and he's #1 in this era.

Weird how Fury and Wilder got exposed as the worse half of heavyweight. Turns out Usyk and Joshua may have been the two best in the world.
@holliswilliams8426
@holliswilliams8426 3 месяца назад
I think we kind of all knew that. There was a reason Fury and Wilder were fighting each other (for several years btw), milking some big pay cheques and not fighting either Usyk or AJ right? It was a matter of time before Fury was exposed, as he has been fighting journeymen for decades and not improving his basic skills, obviously either AJ or Usyk would beat him easily.

If Joshua can become an undisputed he goes in the top 5 heavyweights imo. It takes so much more character to grow older and regain the titles like Ali than to go unbeaten. That means you overcame yourself and your opponent and the pressure. If Joshua can beat Fury and Usyk he goes down as a great.

As the Parker fight got closer I picked him actually using reverse triangular logic as part of my equation. Or the Ali-Frazier-Foreman effect. We've seen so many times over the years that triangular logic DOESN'T mean anything, so that the reverse must be kind of true. I also thought that the speed of Joyce - he spars with snails and throws them out of the gym for outspeeding him - may have flattered Zhang. As for AJ, then the boxing gods have restored his rep by facing two Fury foes back-to-back. I do think the detractors have a point, in that he's not exactly faced a murderer's row this past year, but it's a solid effort from him, and politically it's exceptional. Plus, we have to thank him for restoring boxing's respect.

AGAIN BIG congratulations to Anthony Joshua for his mighty impressive 2nd round Knock-Out victory over the big game Francis Ngannou! Truly unexpected and truly dominant. Incredible how Joshua have bounced back his career and went from having some "mental fears" in a few fights to not only find his way back, but emerge even more dominant then his previous AJ performances of the past. Anthony Joshua have truly taken his past defeats to heart and worked his butt off to improve his game and his mental strenght. Indeed true that Joshua is now THE 2nd BEST heavyweight in the world with only his former conqueror Oleksanr Usyk, the champ ahead! Tyson Fury have nowhere to run now. That big clown can't kick the can down the road any longer. Joshua have back-to-back knocked out both tricky south-paw Otto Wallin and powerhouse Francis Ngannou - BOTH men gave a heck load of trouble for Fury for 24 rounds combined! Joshua took them both out inside 5-6 rounds combined (!) Fury can't trash-talk his way out any longer. He either put-em-up, OR shut-himself-up! Filip Hergovic, Joseph Parker, Zhilei Zhang, Deontay Wilder...the road is open. Hergovic looks most possible in a possible vacant IBF world title clash, but if that gets postponed, I would still love to see him KO Wilder meenwhile to finaly have that former rivalry put to rest and having a "W" over him on his record. Joseph Parker vs. Zhilei Zhang rematch is up next so both men are tangled up, but the winner is absolutley up on the radar as that man will be the WBO mandatory!

Another great little video, thank you! Joshua really does look good again but for Me the real revelation is Joseph Parker! Maybe he should be Joshua's next opponent? On paper it looks like a good fight for AJ as Parker is not a big puncher and it would not only give Parker the chance to avenge the defeat but also earn a small fortune! And to be honest my money would be on Joseph Parker to take a tight decision! AJ looks as good as he ever has but Parker looks better than I have ever seen him and is now quite possibly the best Heavyweight in the world - in my opinion at least!

Joshua needs to stay active. He should have 2 more fights this year. He should fight Hrgovic for the stripped IBF title and when he beats him, a rematch with Parker with be a good fight. Then, early next year, AJ can see who comes out victorious between Fury and Usyk.

Fury is going to be humiliated by Usyk. He’ll make some pathetic man-child excuse and then retire, forever ducking and hiding from AJ. Fact is he is terrified of a fight with AJ because he KNOWS he’ll be flatlined
@chonqmonk
@chonqmonk 3 месяца назад
Wait, but if Usyk whoops Fury, Fury might as well retire. Why would anyone want to see AJ fight him after that? The fight will be AJ vs Usyk 3 at that point. If Usyk embarrasses AJ for a 3rd time, then maybe Fury waddles out of retirement for the 2 losers to get a payday out of the pocket of Saudi chumpsters.
