Hi Lethius! I just came across your page and loved watching your video!!!!! It was so refreshing to see genuine happiness talking about plants. Your energy was very nice to watch! I have moved 90% of my plants to leca and will never go back to soil. I could relate to the leca flying everywhere. Hello from Mississippi! -Cassidy

Hey Lethius! You are so right when you say this plant is very resilient because I've killed mine and brought it back twice lol. It has been in sphagnum moss for some time now and I wasn't sure if I was going to move her to pon or leca but after seeing this video I definitely think leca is the way to go.

I have one of these on the way. I am going to put it into an aroid mix with lots compost biochar etc. One thing I found with LECA and PON is it is hard to transfer over and I don't like LECA at all. I killed my first Thai Constellation when I transferred it from PON to cocopeat. Those medias make the roots too thin and light. I want my plants in as natural media as possible. Nice beautiful plant though.

@@RootsReady I only use leca to cover holes in the pots, but it is not something I use outside of the wonderful aroid mix I purchase from E t S y. I just watched an awesome vid with a man who grows his in glass and said you don't need soil to grow them.

Uhm, nix on the no drainage! My plants did not like it. My plants got damaged by hail and they are rehabbing. Weird that my Crysal put out a huge leaf after the damage. The Clari is hobbling along and is now putting out a new leaf. This thing was so huge I had those long stingy things growing out of it. I absolutely love these plants. Dang hail!

I've maybe had one leaf per year 🥲😅 I've recently moved one to leca to see if that improves things. How long until you saw additional root growth? It's probably been 4 weeks and I can't see any new root growth.
@RootsReady

I believe it took me a few weeks before first signs of growth. Once it was settled, it grew really quickly
@johnwrou

Thanks! I bought a couple plants at a surprisingly reasonable price and am thinking of re-potting so leca sounds like the way to go. What I am wondering is what is your watering scheme for A. Clarinervium? Recently a lady told me that she gives hers a lukewarm shower once every two weeks approximately. It was right at a point when two other A. Clarinerviums where about to die. I have tried that and it seems to have saved both plants but I am dissappointed in the size of the leaves. Do you use anything other than just water ... like some kind of 'fertilizer'? And do you allow your pots to 'sit in water' or is it all drained off after each watering?
@RootsReady
@RootsReady Год назад
Great question! I have found that my Clarinervium have done very well in leca. I don't shower my plants personally due to lack of time, but its a great idea. I would recommend using a hydroponic fertiliser. I use Formulex here in the UK as it is full spectrum. You can use any you feel comfortable with. This is especially important in the spring and summer when the plan is growing. I do leave a small reservoir in the pot so that the plan can wick it up. This also reduces the frequency of watering. I hope that helps

I also microwave damp potting material - not leca, but composts and coconut chips/coir that have been standing outside/outdoors to kill and bugs, slug eggs etc, cooled then mixed with other media. I micro three to six litres of the individual ingredients for ten minutes to make sure nasties are dead.

Hi there, I'm afraid that I don't own any aglaonema at the moment. I have a Dieffenbachia which is similar but I keep it in soil
@msladyjune3285
@msladyjune3285 2 года назад
Why not in Pon? Your Dieffenbachia?
@RootsReady
@RootsReady 2 года назад
@@msladyjune3285 That's a good question. I keep mine in a west-facing window that gets very hot in the afternoons. I find that Pon and LECA dry out too quickly in that location and soil holds onto more of its moisture in the direct sunlight. So I decided to keep it in soil for now. I have seen some people keep aglaonema in pon and leca, and some even in water.
