I watched Utena twice all the way through (I never finished my other rewatch attempts) and I have mostly come to understand Anthy's the real protagonist of this show and love her but holy fucking shit, it has completely passed me by how fuckin savage she really was. I think she's going to become my favorite when I finally do my third viewing (for real this time) this year...
When I first saw the series when I was really young I thought Anthy was plain and quiet. Now that I watched this series a few times and quite into adulthood I can hear her physically being done with their BS like you can't imagine

These can be undermining their victim's feelings, denying events ever happened, or lying to make their victim doubt something that is true. I'm not sure where Anthy gaslit anyone.
It's explained eventually why she's the Rose Bride and as it's explained what exactly the Rose Bride is as well as what the Rose Bride represents symbolically and thematically it also makes more sense why the Rose Bride is treated as an object of desire(even ppl who are kind to her often project their feelings and desires onto her), hatred, subjugation, etc.
But if you still don't fully get it even after watching the whole thing feel free to ask me or other fans about it, there's other fans who understand the series better than me lol, it's a very complex and confusing series and ppl have been analyzing it for decades and it often takes multiple watches to really understand it
Also, Anthy being Desi was a character design made to make her "stand out" and show that she's "mystical" in a sense but regardless of the writers' intentions at the time, when analyzing it one can definitely draw the conclusion that her skin color plays a part in it
it's on RU-vid for free! but if you want it in higher quality you can watch it on crunchyroll or funimation(or a piracy site). it's a masterpiece but I will warn you it deals with very heavy and possibly disturbing subject matter like abuse, incest, grooming etc.
Nanami doesn't actually think about Touga like that, there was a whole episode about her being really weirded out over the concept of actual incestuous relations. Akio had Touga flirt with Nanami and she instantly rejected him, which affected her personality from then on.
