Here's a quick update on the SR86 project. This is from a few months ago, but the information is still relevant.

⏰ 🏎️Suspension Tuning & Optimisation. Get $25 USD off and learn how to do what Andre talks about here for your own project. Even if you're setup is not in cabin adjustable the knowledge still applies.

------------------------------------
Our SR86 is a SR20VET swapped Toyota 86 car that has been modified over the last few years to suit short 1-hour endurance racing events.
Among the other changes to this car we have fitted adjustable anti-roll bars (sway bars to some), and Andre explains what has been fitted and why along with some of the fabrication specifics.
You can find the knowledge and course in relation to suspension tuning and optimisation that Andre mentions via the link above.
This update was filmed live before an HPA members only 'Gold Webinar Lesson'. You can find the webinar archive here: www.hpacademy.com/previous-we...

Love the content guys. I was wondering if you guys would do a video or creating a track map for inter session notes, a set up sheet and a race booklet. Having worked in race teams for a number of years, these are an important track tool that can be over looked. Also, I’m useless with excel and need the help haha

Hey Kevin, we cover this in the data analysis courses in relation to making your own, which might look a bit different depending on the event rather than being set in stone. For example, a practice day vs a race day. Tim generally breaks it down further into pre and post-event notes too. You are not wrong though, some resources outside of the course material would be helpful and I will look into this. We do plan to do more around this topic in general. For the 86 we have a booklet Tim put together noting some of it is specific to what is fitted to the car. For reference the Data Analysis Fundamentals course covers setting up track maps & sectors directly: www.hpacademy.com/courses/data-analysis-fundamentals/?hpa-acc=HELPDESK50 For some other general sheets which may or may not help you I've collated a few here for you (and anyone else that sees this). As mentioned we do plan more content around all this in general too: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Lc81QEUOjhXgaCvflfPnJgtyyrbrfPPd?usp=sharing - Taz.

What an amazing design! Is this popular amongst the “high-end” racing community?
@hpa101
@hpa101 Год назад
It's not uncommon but that is hard to answer as it depends what your definition of high end is when it comes to motorsport. What we're doing here certainly isn't a unique concept to just us either way and it's not just circuit racing-focused vehicles that give drivers such an option. It's certainly nice to have and even having an ARB that you can manually adjust under the car in a few minutes rather than on the fly is still a massive win that you will see from club level racing up for good reason - Taz.

@@hpa101 Reminds me of the early 90's DTM / touring car setups in the E30 M3. Team Bigazzi FTW! Nice to know it's still relevant for todays racers.👌

It’s generally a common feature regulation’s permitting for specific classes . ‘Works / factory’ cars and series like the porsche cup cars / BMWs have ARB ‘s developed by the manufacturer and therefore available off the shelf easily. After that it’s more down to small performance manufacturers to bring them to market but that’s dependent on the popularity of a particular vehicle as it’s not economically viable to produce a specific ARB for a car that’s not popular. After that it’s down to the clubman/ national type guy to design his own if his budget allows . All in all not that expensive to do but you either need some technical knowledge and fabrication skills or have one made . Then that then leads down the rabbit hole of testing and experimenting to suit the individual car . All very interesting though , if you search around there is also an anti roll bar with a ‘third element’ . Mainly used on single seaters / LMP’s with pushrod suspension using a torsion bar and 2 blades in the shape of a ‘T’ . This prevents dive under hard braking and stabilises ride height at speed with high downforce cars . You won’t go far wrong with this channel and others like it as they cover a wide variety of topics pleasantly presented . 👍🇬🇧

Can you attach servos to the arb or attach to the manual lever an electric or pneumatic ram and program through telemetry when to use which setting? Or time based, or possibly steering angle, speed and g's to have constantly variable settings?

We sourced ours from MRX - www.mrx.co.nz/shop-race-car-sway-bar-parts.php They're generally specifically made to suit your setup which is why you might struggle to find generic ones. We are happy with the products and services we have gotten from MRX but you might have someone local to you doing the same as well who it would be good to build your own relationship with. That said, pretty 'global' world these days when it comes to international shipping etc😎 - Taz.

We probably should! Filming really slows down the work though sadly so for now updates like this on the CRX, SR86 or anything else are the middle ground we have settled for. In the future we would love to do a series on a scratch build - Taz.
