Another in the spring series of ranger-led battle walks at Antietam National Battlefield. This battle walk is led by Ranger Brian and we follow in the footsteps of the 12th Massachusetts Regiment and learn of their action in the Cornfield. The regiment suffered the highest percentage of casualties, on the Federal side, at the battle of Antietam, the bloodiest one day battle in the Civil War.

My Great Grandmother’s brother Private James Dunlop fought in the 12th Massachusetts Regiment and was wounded in the Cornfield. We have letters from relatives who exchanging letters from Canada back to Scotland informing them of his condition. This is amazing. Thank you so much for posting this.🇨🇦❤

What a great talk and walk, but there are so so so many more incredible details that could’ve been woven in about the 12th Massachusetts Volunteers. there is great detail available to bring out the stories of many of the leaders and rank and file soldiers in that regiment also, the Ranger said that men were not brought in to replace the terrible losses they suffered at Second Manassas and Antietam, but in reality - in large part, because the state of Massachusetts considered abolishing the regiment because they had so few men after Antietam - many many men were brought in, and a good majority of them were from foreign countries that had just recently immigrated to America. Colonel Fletcher Webster is my second cousin, five generations removed, and I have produce this presentation about him & the 12th Mass.: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lkieAojMiNo.htmlsi=VoICG_DZr8Us2CYe

How about a unit that's never heard about like the 53rd Pennsylvania Infantry regiment. Yall keep mentioning the same units all the time. talk about others that were there.
