Meagher led his men right into destruction, Barlow saw what was in front of him, moved left and flanked the whole right side of Bloody Lane! McGhee just got guys killed
I've been watcvhing for 4 minutes and haven't seen anything but the guy standing there. Camera doesn't rotate to show what he's pointing at: the. result? EXITING OUT> BLOCKING THIS CHANNEL... incompetence abounds
Troy always puts you on high level game. While most people are worried about which bridage faced who, Troy’s worried about how the horses for the artillery were fed each day and where both armies got their water.
How tied was Barksdale to the ill gotten gain of robbing the poor of their labors? (Not to mention robbing them of their God-given freedoms, love & companionship of their families, affection of their wives, etc. All that is dearest in life.) I'm sure he was a part of the $laveocracy. Bark$dale was not a good man. And now, with his morals out the window & love of $ is his god, he is now a threat to the very Constitution & our precious liberty enshrined therein.
I’m confused. Is he talking about the 1864 presidential election in the beginning? Wouldn’t July 1863 be super early to affect the November 1864 election? I know he said voting starts in February and news moved slow but that’s still 8 months.
My Great Grandmother’s brother Private James Dunlop fought in the 12th Massachusetts Regiment and was wounded in the Cornfield. We have letters from relatives who exchanging letters from Canada back to Scotland informing them of his condition. This is amazing. Thank you so much for posting this.🇨🇦❤
Great tour. My only minor issue would be conducting a tour, and having to shout so the crowd can hear you, in the middle of a cemetery. Yes, it's a significant location at Gettysburg for the battle, but a cemetery is still a cemetery. Respect should be shown and noise should be kept to a minimum.
The author is mistaken about the two birthdays, yes both are in January. But not on the same date. I should know, for l married my ex-wife on the birthday of one of America's greatest generals. Did'nt realize l had did the deed until months later reading The Farmer's Almanac. There was a list of famous Americans birthdays in the back of the almanac, this was back in the mid-90s. Can't remember if MLKs was in their or not.
In our urban world, too many, perhaps most people are without a “home”. Uprooted or rootless. It is always painful for me to return to my hometown in East Texas,, not only because the town is much declined from what it was, but especially because the house I grew up in, now exists only in my mind, because it is physically gone and the whole area now covered with a new growth of forest, Robert E. Lee did return to the Capital and so saw Arlington standing there, but it was at the edge of a graveyard, and so he must have felt they same sense of total loss. “Be it ever so humble...”
McClellan should have only been a Quarter master general. He did not have the nerves or guts whatsoever to be a front line combat commander. Lincoln should have put him there. Of course Pope ,Hooker , and Irwin were worthless! Lee went through 6 Union Generals until he met Mead and then Grant . Sherman would have given Lee the same blood bath .
I love Addressing Gettysburg and I’m a Patreon member. It’s not “the only” Gettysburg Podcast though. I’m also a Patreon for The Battle of Gettysburg Podcast hosted by LBGs Jim Hessler and Eric Lindblade. They’re different formats and styles but they’re also both fantastic and deserve to be recognized :)
Dont blame gouverneur pronunciation on all New Yorkers. That was a bunch of downstaters. Those of us from western central eastern NY pronounce the town of governeur as gov uh nor.😸
I had the pleasure of taking an afternoon tour with Ranger Matt on Little Round Top (at least I think it was LRT, its been some years ago). He's an excellent teacher, excellent with kids. Made history of that day thoughtful and engaging for the audience.
