I have schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder and I used to feel mania, associated with delusions. That made me feel amazing almost all the time. I see that you experienced mania too, don't you feel the desire of having that pleasant feeling again? Like, when you felt it once, it kind of becomes a part of you, then when you're medicated it's like you feel miserable, thats how I feel at least.

It was an amazing experience, but I also realized that I was hurting people I really love. At the point I explored it, I actually would have died from kidney complications from muscle damage, which would have been fine with me but would have left my family devastated. Fast forward with 3.5 years of medication and therapy. I lead my household, I take care of my family financially. In the old age of my parents, I want to help them and have them live with me as I become more and more successful at work. I have a really nice job where I work from home. I am starting this business of raising awareness about schizophrenia, and hoping this channel helps people in their journey of rehabilitation into society with Schizophrenia. I have already experienced mania and I know the nice things that came with it, but now I want to live a life where I am in a nice place, while bringing others to a nice place within the family and community. It is a rewarding experience. I find much joy in life now, even though I still deal with my schizophrenia amongst other things. Also, I believe experiencing psychosis, mania and now schizophrenia has made me much stronger, and challenges I face I am very much prepared for in life. It is all temporary and minor, but why not make it beautiful for self and others together.

@@lettersfromschizophrenia Maybe its hard for me to realize you can be happy in the way of society, or maybe its just me that simply can't do it, so it's like the only hope for me would be through some crazy way.. but Im glad you succeeded in life!! Peace :)

My partner is currently going through what i strongly believe to be a schizophrenic episode, or psychosis. This isnt the first time in his life this has happened. He refuses to get help, and i can no longer even mention the words "help", "doctor", or "psychiatrist". Its becoming unbearable to live with him and he is making decisions that are damaging to his life right now. Do you have any advice to give in terms of helping someone going through an episode to realise that they really need help? He doesnt have that awareness and cant understand how it is negatively affecting me. Im at a loss right now, i feel like my only option is to leave him alone. And he really would be alone, as all of his family live overseas and we dont have friends or any of my family near us. You seem so relatable in your videos and so i just felt compelled to ask. I understand though if theres no advice you can give in this situation. Also, really happy for you that youve done so well for yourself and your family, thats not easy and you did it!

I am currently working on a video in its initial stages titled How to approach a loved one going through psychosis. this is just a perspective and not advice but a wish on how I was approached about it. I am hoping to get this recorded tomorrow and will take a couple days to edit. Many people approach me about it, so I figured I would make a video about it. Thank you for your kind words. I hope things get easier for you both.

I recently watched and read about antipsychiatry and stopped taking my medication cold turkey. Even antipsychiatry movement against cold turkey. But i feel myself normal and don't experience symptoms. I want to believe that it was just vitamin D deficiency, i watched a video on Ask a psychiatrist RU-vid channel about differential diagnosis of schizophrenia. From the list of illnesses that may cause schizophrenia like symptoms i have vitamin D deficiency and benign tumor in the brain (I am not ready for surgery, i made gamma radiation treatment in the past for my epilepsy, i don't have epilepsy anymore). Also i try to avoid sunflower oil. I am allergic to it according to my allergologist. And i heard that there is such thing as psychosis caused by gluten intolerance. So i try to avoid it because who knows if one allergy causes schizophrenia like symptoms maybe others also can do it. Also i improved my diet and walk daily. I want to believe that i am free from the illness. I didn't have psychosis for 1,5 year. It's huge for me. So maybe i can safely stop my medication

I would not say I am cured, but I can manage my symptoms and live a functional life. I utilize medication and therapy in order to achieve this.

@@lettersfromschizophrenia we have same illness from the same source, i want to ask you, these medicaments help you? Are they good for something? Are you allowed to drive cars with this sickness? I'm afraid to go to medic because if they will not allow me to get drive license, or to don't get worst
@lettersfromschizophrenia

@@Crs54 Yes I can drive cars. that being said I wasn't ok to drive cars when I was early going through my journey. No one by law stopped me from driving for taking medication. It takes time to stabilize on meds, they have a loading dose. which means they will fully start working after a certain amount of time. for me it was a few weeks. I didn't drive then till I felt confident.
