What a great vintage modern store! Thanks for taking us through it, even though several of the items for sale there made me gnash my teeth (particularly the signed Higgins glass piece and the squiggle ware glasses because I UNDERsold similar pieces 10-15 years ago - auggh!). But the Danish modern furniture and especially that amazing brutalist cabinet were wonderful to see. It's almost impossible find items like these anywhere in SoCal anymore, and when you do, they're for exorbitant prices. Still, thanks for this terrific video - as always, it was fascinating and a real education.
My pleasure! We actually sent a Danish wall unit I had all the way to San Francisco because she said even with shipping it was a better deal than she could get in California
O my God George, I don't want to bored you with all my comments, but, you really know your stuff, and you show such wonderful things, I really love all kinds of very different things, but I love art glass, and all the different colors, not just Murano, but we all know Murano pices are exquisite, but the big bold vases, every time I see them I get so ecstatic, I had a big swang vase, really big beautiful color and my new kitties broke it just after Easter, and I know I won't have the money to replace it any time soon, hahahaha another resong to watch your awesome videos. Thank you very much.
Hi, Patty! Thank you so much, I'm pleased that you took time to comment and hope you'll watch my older stuff too. I lost a good Chihuly piece to my kitties once, it happens but you'll find something great to replace it someday
The white and green Broyhill set to die for!! Love the cypress knee lamp, love everything in your booth and the entire store. What an awesome, fun video. Your channel is better than anything on tv!! Please keep them coming.
I love that burl table. I always wanted one. I bet they're hard to find & if one found one, how to get it home & in place? I am hellbent on making it to Florida in 2023. I want to see in person these amazing places with the amazing goods.
Right by my friend's son's tattoo shop Buku ! On Central as well, was there in May & your mall was closed that day sadly. But we'll see you in the fall hopefully! booth looks great! Come see us at Hidden Treasures in Loves Park Illinois
Love your videos and all of the knowledge of the items you share!!! Wish you would have shown the cat picture in the side wall of your booth...info, please. Thank you!
I'm in PA and NEED to get to this store! I am in love with so much of what you showed us. Plus I always admire your knowledge and the pleasant way you teach us. Crazy Lamp Lady, Jocelyn keeps dropping your name. You should have over a million views!
Jocelyn is really sweet to do that! She's very bright and really ambitious, so she's coming across a lot of really good stuff to show and sell. Thank you for finding me, please like/subscribe and tell your friends, and hopefully you'll end up in Florida soon enough!
I sell through the mall I was filming (Vintage Modern St. Pete), plus two others in Florida, one in Kentucky and four in Washington state. I don't have my own shop as I travel too much
I love beach stuff too! If you watch my Bunker Challenge video, you'll get the idea...I really enjoy those types of things because I've mostly lived near the beach most of my life
It is illegal to wear a fez in Turkey. Ataturk, founder of modern Turkey was trying to modernise / Westernise the country and he saw the fez as being too Arabic . He also tried to ban the veil which wasn’t working so he tried to say that only prostitutes could wear the veil to try and dissuade respectable women from wearing the veil. He was also a teacher and introduced Western lettering rather than Arabic script in about 6 weeks when he was told it would take 2 years, he pushed it through and went out on the road himself to promote the change. He also introduced surnames, previously every one was known as xx son of yy. This lead to some fabulous surnames in Turkish like Mr Happy, Mr Star, Mr lightening . A fascinating man who is of course on all the Turkish money and you will see his portrait / photo in about 99% of Turkish stores
Those are really interesting facts! I knew Ataturk modernized the country greatly, but I didn't realize those specifics. The fact he could meld it into a bridge between cultures is truly amazing
Wall fish is a great name for those cheerful critters. I have collected a few sets of wall fish. The bathroom is the best place for wall fish because water is all over the place. What a nice store George.🐦🍄😇🐦🍄😇🐦🍄😇🐦🍄😇🐦🍄😇🐦🍄😇🐦🍄😇🐦🍄😇🐦🍄😇🐦🍄😇🐦🍄😇🐦
@@TheAntiqueNomad hope you had a good Forth. Is the chalkware is still getting good prices? Someone told me the price for it is low now. Thanks for the heart 🧡🧡🧡🧡❤❤🐞🐞😇😇😇🦅🦅🕊🕊🕊🍓🍓🍓🤩🤩🥳🥳🥳💙😜😜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Another fantastic tour!!! So many pieces I really liked. I thought it was funny you were a bit surprised at me having one of the orange swung glass vases😂 My grandmother had it as long as I can remember. I was born in '61, and I don't remember her not having it. When she died I wanted it, so now I have it 👍 She used to put gladiolus and flowering dogwood limbs in it. If that marquetry card table has legs that fold, it would make a beautiful wall piece! Loved that one! I really liked the pond boat, too. I have one that is actually a gunboat, all made from wood, and has two smoke stacks on it. It has a little wear, but is actually in really good condition. The carved shell lamp is phenomenal! Probably quite striking, when lit. Looking forward to the second part Sunday!!!
Thank you! I'm glad you kept grandma's vase, she must have been ahead of her time. Never thought about mounting a table, what a good idea to use as art.
@@TheAntiqueNomad That vase does add a pop of colour. I have one of the old cardboard card tables, with the metal corners, and used it as a wall hanging for years. They do make nice, and interesting, wall hangings.
Great video George. I always enjoy your information. I know the Petoskey show is a busy one. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to let me know. I plan on going both days. There are a lot of vendors I really like there. Again, wonderful video!
That's terrific! I can't wait to see you in person. My goal has been to bring the real world and online world of antiquing together, I'm excited to see that happening
George ❣️❣️❣️ Always a great pleasure to shopping with you !!! I absolutely love the Heager Woman with the large Hat🥰 oh my!!! You are so right about shopping for furniture in vintage shops. The quality is so much better than most of what you find nowadays. And the style... no comparison!!! Looking forward to more adventures 😊
Love this channel! As a breyer horse collector- I get a thrill to see the horses in the antique malls! Love the owl lamp (we’ve seen them a few times on your channel) with a shade.
Yes, the owl lamp was a find at Mt. Dora (as a pair, one sold) and I finally got a proper shade for it! I'm glad you're enjoying watching and look forward to bringing more.
I only can help you if you're selling old/vintage items, I don't know people who sell reproductions or fakes. If you have access to true antique Asian art and artifacts, I can connect you to good buyers
@@TheAntiqueNomad I am sorry to write do manybut also I do live in Bali and if your contact tell me what they want I can search for it as many seemingly old things are sold here. I can send photos to show what is available. Unfortunately many Balinese have lost their income including like in the rest of the world, shop owners.
That sounds cool! I wonder if they're allowed now? Stuffed birds can get you in trouble if you try to sell them, I had a guy give me a red tailed hawk to sell and found out you can't anymore
I had a set when I was young Many injuries happened while trying to master them. Also, they chipped fairly easy. Good luck finding one, I never see them.
George, I want those wall fish. I love your shop, are we able to buy from you and have items shipped? That purse ❤️❤️❤️. How are we going to be able to purchase items from your booths. 🤗🤗🙏🙏
Hi, Carolyn! Unfortunately, the wall fish sold. The purse is still available though! I can pull them when I'm back down there in late July, or I can give you the shop's info and you can contact them directly. They're at (727) 823-5700, I'm booth #144
@@TheAntiqueNomad I'm so glad you liked it, it's been in my 🏠 for over 10 years, and when I saw your video with all the cameras, I knew whom I could pass it on to :) ...Enjoy it. Maria@California Thrifter
I found a very unique looking piece of Treasure Craft at the Thrift Store. It is either a chip and dip set or fondue set. Looks Tribal with brown and turquoise. I have been trying to research online and have hit a dead end. Since you are the TC expert any advice?
I grew up in Red Wing, MN. Many of my relatives worked at the Pottery or the Shoe companies. Been to a lot of pottery conventions in Red Wing but I have never seen the vase that you have. Beautiful!
Hi there! I hadn't seen that one in years. They made similar for Rumrill Pottery back then. I went through on the train once, Red Wing was a very pretty town
