The Reproaches seem to me to be an examination of conscience rather than explicitly antisemitic, a general, broadcast accusation by God of all men's ingratitude before His generosity. It is meant to provoke repentance, as St. Peter's sermon to the crowds on Pentecost tore the hearts of the Jews, three thousand of whom came to fulfil their very covenant.

@@70AD-user45 Agreed. Jews aren't Semitic, nor are they a great and noble people. Antisemitism is mostly because of, you know, the wars Zionists wage in Christendom. Read some of the Holy Talmud in Judaism, everything in Sanhedrin 58b is particularly pretty. My favorite is "If a heathen (gentile) hits a Jew, the gentile must be killed." Sanhedrin 106a Says Jesus' mother was a whore: "She who was the descendant of princes and governors played the harlot with carpenters." Also in footnote #2 to Shabbath 104b of the Soncino edition, it is stated that in the "uncensored" text of the Talmud it is written that Jesus mother, "Miriam the hairdresser," had sex with many men. It isn't just hatred of Christians, It's hatred period by them. Martin Luther had a good view on them.

@First Name Last Nane The traditional Yiddish name for Jesus is "Yoshke Pandre" (Little Yeshua son of Pantera). Pantera was a Roman soldier jews claim fathered Christ. The Talmud also claims Jesus boils in excrement forever. Lord have mercy on them and us.

@@carltonpoindexter2034 That certainly does not prove you are Jewish. I could have a grandfather who is Jewish but that doesn't make me a Jew any more than it makes you one. During the Old Covenant age of Israel, do you know how strict they were when defining who is a Jew? They used to keep all the genealogical records stored in the temple and only those Jews who could prove their ancestry to the Patriarchs (Abraham, Issac, and Jacob) of the Old Covenant age of Israel were given full temple access and to the temple rituals like the animal sacrifices that were necessary for salvation. Only those Jews who could prove their ancestry had full land inheritance rights. You had to prove your identity as a Jew through your genealogy to be a part of God's covenantal people and partakers of the blessings of Abraham. You had to prove your identity to participate in Israel's seven feast days and to be able to practice the Torah. Evidence was needed that someone was descended from one of the 12 tribes of Israel. Evidence was needed in proving whether a Jewish male could become a Levitical priest. Priests could only be descended from the tribe of Levi and descendants of Aaron, the brother of Moses. Keeping genealogical records were a vital part of proving who was a Jew, and you can see that in the genealogical records in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke and in some of the Old Testament books. The proselytes who converted to Judaism were not given equal access to the temple and its rituals as those bloodline Jews. Now do you seriously believe you are a genuine Jew who can prove from genealogy that you've been descended from the Old Covenant age of Israel. The genealogical records were destroyed in 70 AD and the Jews that survived the great tribulation (time of Jacob's trouble) were scattered across the Roman empire and the bloodline to Old Covenant Israel was gone forever. You probably have an ancestor who is most likely to be a Khazar from eastern Europe who converted to Talmudic Judaism in 740 AD under King Bulan. There is a reason why God brought the Jewish bloodline of Old Covenant Israel to an end: 1 TIMOTHY 1, 4: "...nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith".

I appreciate your videos as God has been gracious to put me on the path towards Orthodoxy. What you say about conspiracy theories strikes me as mature and wise (in a broad or general sense). I have spent nearly 15 years studying conspiracy topics. It's an extremely slippery slope and certainly can lead one into pride and away from Christ. Understanding how Satan deceives the whole world may not be for everyone, but is a great Christian obligation and responsibility. Most of the grandest lies are "open conspiracies". The problem is very few people read philosophical/geopolitical books written by the likes of Caroll Quigley, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Oswald Spengler, Bertrand Russell, or David Wemhoff. On the contrary...most are intentionally trained not to think critically or question what they are given to believe. Christian leaders, in particular, ought to be "wise as serpents and yet as harmless as doves". Questioning the status quo, discerning the lies of modernity, and diligently seeking ultimate truth was a substantial part of my journey to Orthodox Christianity.

He absolutely didnt. He objected to Christians attending Jewish services and Jewish feasts, and a big part of his argument was a theological critique of Judaism and their rejection of Jesus. He uses harsh language in rejecting Judaism that can be unquesy for people today, but St John's language is no different than when he talks about Christian heretics. Jewish converts have been and always have been accepted with open arms, and there is no extra loops they have to jump through to prove their sincerity.

@@jamesb0gginsw0rth63 You're reading a lot more into this than is actually there. The Pope was not denying the universal mission of the Church; far from! Eugenio Pacelli was Italian. Is it really heresy to point out the great debt we owe to the Jewish people? The fact that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (all Semites) chose Israel to be a light unto the nations; the fact all but two books of the Bible were written by Hebrews; the fact that my Lord and my Lady, and all 12 Apostles are Jewish? St. Paul himself speaks of us gentiles being grafted into Israel. Of course we should love all people everywhere, but we have a special debt of love to the nation which God chose [Romans 15:27]. As the spiritual descendants of Abraham, we are SPIRITUALLY Semites. Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to accuse others of heresy, if for no other reason than bc it is uncharitable. If you see something you don't like, try to view it in it's best light. Ask for clarification. Make the logical deduction that of course a non-Jew isn't saying that ONLY Jews can be saved.
@Arkangilos
@Arkangilos 5 лет назад
Cariss Stewart plus, correct me if I am wrong, but weren’t non Jews who were adopted into Jewish families made Jewish? Considering St. Paul and all them say we have been adopted into the family of a Jew would indicate we are Jewish, regardless of if they recognize it or not.
@carissstewart3211
@carissstewart3211 5 лет назад
@@Arkangilos Obviously converts to Judaism are considered Jewish. A slave who was circumcised could, for example, partake of the Passover meal. And it is my understanding that modern converts enjoy a right of return to Israel. But it is debatable to what extent 1st century Jews went to make converts of the nations, if at all. Ethnic pride might of course lead full blooded Jews to view recent converts as suspect... King Herod was Idumean (that is, from Edom, a descendant of Abraham but not Jewish.) Also, adoption in the ancient world wasn't quite the same thing as it is now. For one thing, one might adopt a grown man as his heir (1 Chronicles 2:34; Ezra 2:61). One of the main controversies of the NT is whether the Gentiles needed to accept circumcision and the "works of the Law" i.e. dietary laws, etc.

As a Jew, I can tell you that the reason why we want those verses removed from the liturgy is primarily about authority. Religious authorities do effect the biases of their congregations. If a priest or bishop tells the members of their Church that the Jews killed Jesus or that Jews rejected Jesus as the Messiah and no one is there to counter act these claims, the laity will take it at face value. And those kind of ideas, when left to fester, always lead to violence. Do I think that religion is the sole reason for anti semitism? No, of course not. Is this a problem unique to Orthodoxy, defiantly not! I’ve often joked that anti semitism is the only bipartisan belief. But when someone of authority says “this group of people did a very bad thing” people will follow a train of logic that ends with “we should do something about them, then.”
