If you don't know Kurosawa and Fritz as movie lovers then you are missing out on two of the institutions of global film making. To add another small point is that if you don't know Ritwik Ghatak and Mrinal Sen then as movie lovers of Indian cinema you are missing out on two institutions of Indian film making.

You guys seriously haven’t heard of Fritz Lang??? He was a prolific director in Hollywood in the 40’s and 50’s. Working with legends like Walter Pigeon, Henry Fonda, Ray Milland, Gary Cooper, Spencer Tracy, Edward G. Robinson, Peter Lorre etc!!! And also Akira Kurosawa, Japan’s most well known director and interned into the list of one of the greatest directors ever by Hollywood and presented with an honorary Oscar in 1990 after having his films copied and remade in Hollywood!!! What rock have you been living under? Call yourselves cinephiles when you don’t even know Hollywood history? Don’t make me laugh!!

fun fact 2- anurag's life most impactful movie which changed his view towards cinema was The Bicycle Thief..

The one Movie that change his perspectives of cinema is BICYCLE THIEVES. He has once n for all, recommended that Movie. He is a genius.

Was really surprised they didn't know Fritz Lang. Two of his films, Metropolis and M, are in imdb top 250. I have seen 5 of his early films and he was indeed a daring and pathbreaking film maker.

all of Satyajit Ray movies (The Master - as we commonly call him) are available, to buy or on youtube. a great gift to human society on enriching the culture - that he made a movie every year throughout 60's. Most Indian film-maker, past & contemporary somewhere learned or influenced by The Master - Ray.

This is the reason he had no answer when u guyz asked him about his favourite movie. He has seen so many that its difficult to choose 1.

You guys need to see movies of Fritz Lang and Kurosawa. They are pretty popular. Start with Metropolis (1927) and you will see the genius that Lang was.

Yes it's surprising that they had not heard of Kurosawa or Fritz Lang before watching this video but more surprising fact is that Anurag Kashyap had not seen many famous Hitchcock films,Film Noir until recently,The Lady Vanishes,The Birds,The Man who knew too much are some of the movies he watched recently,just because he has this huge DVD collection doesn't mean he has seen them all,He has not seen 90% of the stuff he has,pay him also some attention guys.

I bet if Anurag has seen the work of Lee chang dong, he probably would have also heard about Kim Ki-Duk. Most people have heard about films made by Bong Joon-ho and Park Chan-wook but missout on the masterpieces made by Lee chang dong (Poetry, Secret Sunshine, Oasis, Peppermint Candy and more) and Kim Ki-Duk ( 3-Iron, The Isle, The Bow, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring, Samaritan Girl, Bad Guy, Time and many more). P.S. Most Kim Ki-Duk films might be disturbing for some people.
