So what is it called when you get really overwhelmed from a situation that is causing you anxiety, suddenly get hot flashes and dissociation and thus cannot concentrate on what you’re doing because your mind checked out?
@chrispaneesh5475

I`m glad this stuff is being talked about. I am 51 years old and nobody really talked about this in the 70`s, 80`s, and probably the 90`s. The pain is very real with panic and anxiety.

So I've been calling my panic attack an anxiety attack.
@tictac4063
@tictac4063 7 лет назад
God I'm so confused I thought anxiety attacks had a specific trigger and panic attacks were random and with no trigger. My 'attacks' have triggers but they are definitely not just worry. I legitimately cannot breathe and my throat and chest close up and I have more anxiety BECAUSE I can't breathe and I cry and have an adrenaline rush
@PanicFreeTV
@PanicFreeTV 7 лет назад
Hi Tic Tac, traditionally panic attacks have been split into a number of categories, the two biggest being "out of the blue" panic attacks (supposedly not having any triggers) and situational panic attacks (triggered by specific types of situations, most often those where people fear they could get trapped somehow and unable to escape easily if they had a panic attack). There are other categories too, but I'll leave that for other videos. We now know, from research by Alicia Meuret at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, that ALL panic attacks are triggered. The reason why "out of the blue" panic attacks seem to come from out of the blue, is just because the triggers are out of our awareness. I go into this (and what to do about it) in much more detail in my free "Panic Free TV Foundation Series" which you can find on my website here: www.PanicFree.TV. It will take away any confusion you've been having. Thanks for commenting!

I've had either panic attacks or anxiety attacks for over 30 years ... They come out of nowhere usually, not thinking about anything stressful ... My heart beats rapidly, I have a hard time breathing, feels like I might swallow my tongue ... Of course my mind reacts to all of this which makes it worse ... I have learned how to ride less severe attacks out by surrendering to the waves of panic and ride them, not struggle ... Even with that tool the experience is very hard ... I've tried different methods to treat them, biofeedback, hypnosis, meditation etc .... The only thing that prevents them for me is medication ...
@PanicFreeTV
@PanicFreeTV 7 лет назад
Hi Ladymiss, what you describe is very typical and taking an acceptance-based approach (just trying to surrender to the waves and ride them out) can work. This approach was pioneered by the late Claire Weekes, and also has roots in the various meditative traditions (reaching back thousands of years). I have a RU-vid video about mindfulness meditation and panic that may be of interest to you here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_EbqcVH9eVg.html. However, acceptance-based approaches for panic are old approaches and we have FAR more effective methods nowadays. I think you'll find my free 4-part "Panic Free TV Foundation" video series most helpful for you. In this series I share many things, including a scientifically-validated technique for stopping panic attacks, that's much more useful than just trying to "ride it out". You can watch this video series for free on my website at www.PanicFree.TV.

I'm glad this distinction has been clarified. I always felt like my anxiety attacks were causing me to panic, while at the same time my panic attacks were making me anxious.

I KNEW IT. I knew it. I avoid caffeine like the plague. I had decaf and it fucked me over all day. I sat in transportation holding back tears for a straight hour today. Thanks for presenting the difference in an organized video. So much.
@PanicFreeTV
@PanicFreeTV 7 лет назад
Hi Jasmyn, you're welcome. Caffeine can definitely trigger panic attacks. I have a RU-vid video that goes into much more detail on the relationship between caffeine and panic attacks here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X1j9f6AbxQ0.html.

Hi Ginelle, I'm sorry to hear about the dog attack you went through. Obviously, I have a range of videos on my RU-vid channel that may help you understand more, but I think what would help you most is my in-depth video series called "The Panic Free TV Foundation Series". It's also free and you'll find on my website: www.PanicFree.TV. This series goes much deeper into panic and anxiety than my RU-vid videos. Thanks so much for commenting.

I’m really a fan of your deep relaxation hypnosis video and made it part of my daily routine.. I have no direct feeling of anxiety or panic attack but a constant bounding pulse which disturb my sleep and eventually causes stress. I was told by the cardiologist that it must be psychosomatic, would that count as panic attack? I was prescribed SSRI which gave me real panic attack and anxiety within 3 days so immediately stopped and looked for natural ways.. would that bounding pulse considered a form of panic attack? Have you encountered similar issue with other patients? Thank you for your good work

Hi Chris, yes... no one can truly understand what it's like to have a panic attack unless they've personally been through one. It's one of the most intense and horrible experiences anyone could ever go through. The good news, though, is that there is SO much we can do to quickly end panic attacks for good! No one needs to keep suffering.
