Agree. Trusscore, this video used word "plastic". It is made of PVC. Not sure I want to be in a room where the walls are leaching out pvc fumes. Even shower curtains have been trending away from PVC materials. PVC is definitely out of all food related items or appliances. And imagine the room catching fire, burning PVC, yikes! I was hopeful. But not really a evolutionary or revolutionary alternative, imo.

I wonder what you have to do to seal a Trusscore wall against pressure washing since it seems to be installed over drywall. I think it looks like a cross between coroplast and vinyl siding and if you know the techniques for sealing Trusscore, you might be able to do coroplast cheaper but with a smooth surface. For my garage plans, I want to do a stainless steel sheetmetal kick board and stucco/plaster above that to cover up ICCF walls, all fire resistant. For the ceiling, MgO board sounds like a good option with steel truss or wood I-joist structure and maybe MgO subfloor? My target is complete inflammability in my garage so upstairs I don't have to worry about anything except the fuel I bring in. I'll have a sprinkler system too so belt and suspenders as Matt says.

As I'm putting plans together (to include selecting materials) to build my next home, I came across a Trusscore commercial making a direct comparison to dry wall. In the commercial, it appeared they were paneling a normal bedroom. The biggest take-away I got from it was how much less time it took to install, especially when taping, plastering, sanding, and painting were eliminated from the process. I was initially intrigued, so I watched the whole commercial hoping that I would get to clearly see what the finished product looks like on a wall from the vantage point of someone normally standing in a room. But the camera angles were either extreme close-ups or too far away (and blury) to be able to visually register the seams between the panels. To make matters worse, they kept switching from one image to the next too quickly to fully absorb what I was looking at. I just wanted to see how prominent the seams were in relation to the whole wall. From the way the commercial was presented, one is left with the impression the seams are as invisible as finished dry wall. I knew better, but the commercial left me with more questions than answers. I got the hunch this was just a technique they use to generate interest. And I was right. Now after seeing this video, I realize trusscore is nothing more than a slight improvement over the wood paneling everyone used in the 1970's to clad their rec room walls with. This is in no way a replacement or even comparable to dry wall. It is not a smooth, seamless product over which you can paint, cut temporary holes to access the conduit behind it, drive nails to hang pictures, and then easily patch up when finished. Yeah, yeah, I'm sure you can remove the whole panel, but that's not really a viable option when it extends from floor to ceiling and you're driving nails back into the same holes you ripped them out of to remove the panel in the first place. Think about it. I don't get it. Why compare this to dry wall? I don't see any real benefit to this product other than the installation process. But then one could make the same arguement for wood paneling. (You can at least paint over wood paneling when you get tired of it.) I would not use this on the walls inside my house. A garage workshop, maybe; or the bathroom walls of a trailer home or a tiny house. But not the livable space inside of a conventional home.
@caustinolino3687
@caustinolino3687 Год назад
The reason to compare it with drywall is it addresses some of the most annoying things about dry wall. Many people can't stand how drywall is typically a flimsy cardboard material that is super prone to damage. I mean, you can literally bump into it by accident and put a massive hole in it. Dry wall sucks up moisture like a sponge and it's difficult to clean because you can't soak it or damage it. As long as this product works like it says it does, it sounds WAY more appealing to me than drywall for a personal house where longevity and low maintenance is important. If I wanted something that looks good temporarily and is fast and cheap upfront, I'd go with drywall.

Trusscore will protect drywall from mold development under normal circumstances even when Trusscore is exposed to direct water (e.g. power spraying). If you have an environment where you have very high relative humidity or the potential for condensation between Trusscore and any drywall you should remove the drywall and install Trusscore directly to the walls where feasible by local building codes.

Trusscore looks like a neat idea if they can improve the design a bit. I'd like to see the panels mate together at seams without the need for trim like J-channel, etc. And, I want it to be able to accept a spray texture and paint. Or heck, it should come from the factory with a texture molded into the PVC! I'd like to just snap it all together and paint. Then, at some point, they could also offer optional panels that are fire rated or have polyurethane or polystyrene insulation built into them.

I’m planning on using this for an upcoming commercial kitchen build. I could no longer afford to bring in an external contractor so I’ll have to do all the work myself. And this is much easier to install than drywall or FRP. I think between drywall and then paying someone to finish it, the PVC would end up comparatively priced. My only problem is it can’t be painted well, and still looks like individual panels so it isn’t really suited for dining room areas or otherwise.

The plastic panels for utility areas that need to be easily washed is kind of cool....but I could see cracked and shattered plastic in the future that requires a whole new panel to be installed instead of just patching the drywall. Thankfully replacing a damaged Trusscore panel after installation is quite simple -- we recommend using a circular saw to cut through the damaged panel and our tongue and groove feature will allow for the panel to be easily removed. From there, you can insert a new panel and use a Trusscore Trim to complete the installation. Please let us know if you have any additional questions 😊

I did an install of a product like trusscore, we mostly used it in barns or car washes. Did one garage. Plywood was better.

LED flickering is from the Hz being too low. I'd go 800Hz to guarantee no flickering in front of cameras.

Seems like there's been more innovation in tile backing board than regular wallboard. I'm surprised there's not more of a push to make wallboard lighter while retaining the rigidity and fire resistance of gypsum.

They make a lighter board. About 2 bucks more per sheet. Ecoboard or something like that. Contractor buys it for his guys to make them more productive

trusscore, why not FRP that's only a 1/8 of inch thick and not likely to break with the trusscore having a hollow core...not feeling that one at all. FRP comes in many colors, and it's easy to install.

What about using MGO in place of drywall? Are they past the mold issues with MGO?
@sebastiantevel898

The good MGO board are not effected by mold, but in general MGO board is way more expensive and heavier to install.

@5:35 what is this product going to do for basement mold and moisture issues? It seems like it would just lock the moisture in behind the product itself at best.
@trusscore
@trusscore 2 года назад
Hey Victor, great question! Resistant to water and moisture, Trusscore wall and ceiling panels won’t degrade or deteriorate in wet or damp environments. Panels won’t absorb airborne moisture, unlike drywall or wood, ensuring stability in their strength and size. This is because Trusscore products are inert and won’t support the growth of mold or mildew. When there’s moisture on interior walls, Trusscore has you covered keeping your space safe and clean.

I like those two products, and I noticed that QuietRock also has a product that offers some RF shielding as well. If I really wanted quiet (like for bedrooms especially) I'd probably still use rockwool in the wall cavities as well as the QuietRock.

@@skliros9235 The TV station I worked at used fiberglass in the wall of the sound booths and a good THICK layer over the ceilings. It worked quite well. In the studio itself we used dedicated acoustic panels designed for the space, LOTS of $$$$$ in that room!

We put up gypsom board to resist fire. Presumably vinyl Trusscore is highly flammable, rapid flame spread, black smoke, melts as it burns, just like vinyl siding. Am I missing something?
@trusscore
@trusscore 2 года назад
Trusscore panels have a Class A fire rating (the most stringent rating available for building materials). If a fire-rated wall assembly is specified by code, Trusscore must be installed on top of a fire-rated wall or ceiling assembly. We recommend that you check with the local building code requirements to ensure the proper fire barrier and other installation requirements are met. Please let us know if you have any further questions. 🙂

Does the building code acknowledge whether an example gypsum board wall has a different fire rating under typical installation conditions than that same example gypsum board wall when covered in, say, napalm-soaked rugs? Or is it all the same, compliance-wise?
