I bought two sets last year. Got them on sale at Cabela's for $69 plus shipping. I absolutely love these things. One set I cut down to two step sticks, the other I left with three. I use amsteel Daisy chains and aiders. I keep my eyes open for any on sale. Great review and I also recommend them.
Thanks for that feedback. Sounds like you got a fantastic deal. I’ve seen them several times for $79 but I have not been lucky enough to see them lower than that. If I had the money now I would definitely consider getting a second set to cut down to a two step system.
Link worked for me, took me to the sticks. I appreciate you taking the time to post this video. I wish I had found these last year. I have the hawk and did the rope mode, mostly because the straps that came with the hawk sticks were shot by the end of the season. I hang and pull a lot, so I wore them out. So far the rope mode is a better deal for me on keeping it easier and quiet, maybe fast but cant say for sure. But again the rope mod cast money to do as well, rope and versa buttons. This would have been a much cheaper option and for me the one pound difference wouldn't make up the 40 dollars initially saves plus the 30-40 bucks for versa buttons and rope to replace the broke straps. Thanks again my friend and keep up the fun videos, I will pass your link around case one of my buddies needs some sticks. Have a blessed week. Dale
I bought these sticks and love them thank you so much for bringing these to my attention definelty great sticks for the price. Only negative i could find was mine do not nest together very good! Great review on a great product
You're welcome. I have heard there is some variation in design. I also know mine only nest one way. When you stack one on it has to go below the step of the next one, not above. I may have that backwards...I can't remember now. Out of curiosity did you order yours from cabelas? They have been out of stock for a while now.
I’m a big fan of the double step. I’m trying some of the hawk helium 20” steps this year because they are more compact for being mobile. While they still have the double step they aren’t quite as solid as these API sticks.
I don’t know why they don’t make them with a single step on the first two steps and leave the double step just on the top step. That would save weight and you almost never need to stand with both feet on anything other than the top step.
Interesting idea. Bow that I’m thinking about it, each step is held on with only one bolt and a groove cut into the backside of the step. If it was only a single step I’m not sure if they could still get away with a single bolt. Might end up needing two bolts...not sure though.
I’m not sure. It is from nomad. It was given to me and I love it! I looked up the syncrate and I don’t think it’s the same. Maybe an older version though??
Just a warning to anyone buying these sticks- they're okay for the price, but I was really disappointed with them strictly from a mobile hunting perspective. Compared to other, slightly more expensive models, they're pretty noisy and clunky to stack together even if you're being pretty careful, the steps on the set I got had too much play or wiggle and not enough traction for my liking, and the stand-offs or teeth that contact the tree do not bite into the bark at all. Do not expect to be able to use any sort of versa strap, rope mod, or anything like that on these sticks. (I did, and was disappointed). Great budget option for someone who is just getting into the game, but I wish I'd just bought Hawk Helium sticks from the beginning. Hawk's go on sale for around $100 pretty consistently. The API model is now a set that I leave in the woods on a pre-set location instead of using them for run and gun, and they're great sticks for that style of hunting.
My experience has been far different from yours. Mine stack well and bite into the tree well. At times I’ve taken the strap off and had the stick still stuck to the tree. I wouldn’t argue that they are bulky when stacked. It was to purchase another set it would probably be the new 20” hawk sticks. They are definitely more compact and come in a 4 pack.
