Appalling Northern Territory living conditions revealed
Celebrated filmmaker Rachel Perkins takes journalist Greg Bearup on a tour around White Gate ( Irrkerlantye) or White Gate, a place members of her family have lived for 40 years - longer if you count the old days.
There’s nothing noble or romantic about it now. It’s a disgrace to all of us. White Gate is one of Alice Springs’ squalid and shameful town camps, sat on the outskirts of a prosperous regional city in a wealthy developed country.
“I want people to see this,” Perkins says with tears in her eyes. “I just don’t think people understand.”
This is one of about 20 town camps around Alice, home to 1500 people, all of them Indigenous.

Then why isn't Linda Burney fixing these situations? She is the minister or is going to Garm more important? Or shopping sprees at the centre of Sydney. These are disgraceful given the amount of funding indigenous people receive. And a 'voice' won't fix it. It will probably make it worse.

I'm not seeing 40 billion dollars set aside each year for First Nations people spent in that town. more people should be held to acount over peoples shelter and living conditions That is so wrong on so many accounts.

If somebody with very little Aboriginal blood wants to put on a cultural day in the city or build a new facility supposedly for Aboriginal kids or something like that, there's money there straight away but out in the bush no funding whatsoever

We need more Aboriginal people to be making these videos and posting them on RU-vid bypassing the land councils who are stealing all the money and not allowing these people to show the conditions they are forced to live in and in some cases there are even laws where we can't go to the community's like in South Australia so we can't see that no money has been spent

We need a royal commission not a voice . We just give people with very little Aboriginal blood 40 billion dollars every year and don't ask where they're spending it that is insane and we still have people living like this
