That looks delicious! My mother used to make over 100 jars of kosher pickles every year. We would drive to a farm and buy a bushel of fresh small cucumbers. Unfortunately, the recipe is gone with her but I tried to make them. I spent over $100 making 2 jars of pickles. I waited the appropriate length of time before opening the jars. I had a whole celebration for pickle eating! They weren't very good at all. Oh well, the tradition lives on but it is somewhere in pickle heaven.
Janice, I have toyed with the idea of canning. I think I'll leave it on the shelf for now (see what I did there?). But you don't need any special know-how or equipment to make this Apple Dutch Baby. It will comfort you from the expense of those pickles.
I heard that 95% of the goodness in apples is in the skin? I wonder if there is any way to include it in dishes like this. Maybe blend it and just mix it in as some sort of sauce with the sugar or something? :D annoying extra step but goodness! :D
