It would but just by a bit due to hype....Honestly love the Air....plus you can upgrade the SSD and get inside of it..such a HUGE plus compared to the pros.... And the 11" is so fucking small, i love it
Krazi Borscht the 12 inch is something else. It's like a luxury good, not very adequate, targetted for low tier activity but using it would make the experience unforgettable and addictive. It's like an impressive casual computer. My kind of computer. For work, my company already gave me a work laptop, so at home when I just want to relax, this 12 inch would be perfect for casual computing after work.
LeThayle You're an idiot. Macs are not made for hardcore gaming. They are professional laptops, made for people with businesses, or even a RU-vid channel. They are great for video editing, school, light gaming, and they last a very long time. Windows has a shit OS, always gets a ton of viruses, and in 3-4 years your Windows laptop becomes crap because of how slow it gets. A Mac however, will still be speedy, Sure the price is steep, and I had to save up a lot to get one, but it is an investment, one that I don't regret.
Thanks so much for this!! Defiantly going for the 11 inch because it suits me better. I'm a high school senior and I need a new laptop, not only for my videos on RU-vid, but for my AP and Honor classes and taking online class during study hall! I hope I can get it soon! I really appreciate you doing this review and unboxing, helped a lot :)
Cool Papaya getting a 11 inch MacBook Air from the Apple Store in Annapolis Maryland. I have had many laptops in the past. My school uses macs so I have had some experience. They are good but limited in some functionality
There’s no way people actually think like this. I know it’s a 2 year old comment, but the 11 inch is so small. I think the people who bought this model just upvotes this post lol
Apple haters be like WITH THAT $1,299 1.you can build a house 2.get yourself a new lambo 3.buy 2 new rolexes 4.buy a razer blade Still have some money left to get some pile of shits
Just got the 13 inch model this week and it is my first apple product of any kind. Got to say, moving from a acer and lenovo laptop to this, it's just night and day. The build quality, battery life.. amazing. I was worried about 2 things: the screen and the OS. For a 13 inch laptop, the screen is just fine, although retina wouldn't hurt. The os has really surprised me, i was expecting to have a bit of a learning curve, but after one day, I feel incredibly comfortable with it! All in all, fantastic buy at this point!
I love that your comparisons are complete. Every detail is included. Not like other channels. More videos like this please! It really helps us in our buying decisions :)
Honestly in my opinion mike, apple should start to sponsor you because of the amount of stuff you've bought. Its crazy but its also awesome because we can see what apples products really are and how they perform! Nice job with this video!
I own a MacBook retina 2016 now but one of the advantages I liked about the 11 inch is the 16:9 ratio. I like watching videos on it because you get no black border unlike all other Apple products...just feels more immersive! I also preferred the wider display and better DPI vs the 13 because often I use two documents side by side. Having said all that the 13 inch is the better option if it is going to be your only computer but I love the portability of the 11 inch...just wish I'd have bought the 8GB model now. I tried to go back to Mavericks but it seems so dated now and can still just about get away with 4GB as I have the 256GB Air.
I'm typing this on the new i7 2015 13" Macbook Air w/upgraded processor/ram/storage. I changed from the 2012 Air that had the same upgrades. I am really happy I made this purchase. The biggest reason was simply that my old Air had become old and worn down. But the 2.2Ghz/3.2GhzTurbo processor just blazes! I run Adobe Photoshop without any lag at all. In my opinion the Macbook Air is the perfect computer. Yes, the screen is still just 1440px wide, but the net still is not ready for Retina displays. The pixel doubling of Macbook Pros makes 85% of the websites look fuzzy. For me, this screen is beautiful and bright. Retina displays will be necessary in 2-4 years, but we're not there yet. This computer is blazing fast. Amazing build quality! Never breaks (vs. my Lenovo which was always loose). Amazing keyboard, trackpad. Works great for web/photoediting/videoediting. And it weighs just *2 pounds*.
Old video, but just wanted to add that the 2015 11 Inch Air is my favorite laptop of all time! The portability is just perfect. Really wish Apple would bring the 11 inch back.
I have a mid-2013 11.6 inch Air running OS X El Capitan as my secondary machine and it is the best laptop I owned and one of if not my favorite computer due to it's super compact size, but also powerful enough components. really great piece of machinery, but I am quite saddened that Apple no longer offers it as an option :(
man I'm kinda sad that they don't offer this size anymore...there's something appealing to a very small form factor laptop, these days you have to look at tablets if you want something this small
Still have one laying around the house, used it for 7 years! Graduated both HS and University w it, as well as first semester of MA. Still perfectly usable for daily tasks and my family members use it with no issues. Battery life is ofc so bad at this point and looking at its screen is really hard after getting used to m2 air. Overall, it was an amazing laptop in 2015, definitely worth the money.
Bought the 2017 13” thinking it would make me happy. The 1.8ghz, 128gb and size didn’t win me over. Gave it to my wife. She loves it. Bought an early 2015 i7 with 512gb. I love my computer
I happen to play with this at Best Buy today out curiosity but I must say that I was blown away by the quality of its speakers. Absolutely the best sounding speakers I have ever listened to. Totally demolish the competition. Regret not being an Apple fan otherwise I would have gone for this in a heart bit.
+SevenCoolChicks Actually that was a mistake and I didn't realise it. It's been a while and so I don't recall the actual words I meant to use. I currently don't have any investment in Appl's ecosystem and so the possibility of me switching is close to zero. That said I do admire Apple's attention to detail and that is a great for the Apple fans.
the 11.6 inch is so tiny. i have an Ideapad 3 as my main laptop, but needed a Mac for some work related stuff. can't wait until mine comes in tomorrow.
Yeah I got to admit this. Not sure what apple is doing thinking that making a laptop so thin it only has one port and very weak specs for the price was a good idea.
Still rocking my 2011 13" Macbook pro. Have not had one issue from it. Upgraded it with 16GB of RAM and a new 1TB SSD. Love the quality. If you can afford the price difference I would recommend the Pro
Then: 11 inch MacBook Air 13 inch MacBook Air 13 inch MacBook Pro 15 inch MacBook Pro Now: iPhone 12 mini 5.4 inch iPhone 12 6.1 inch iPhone 12 Pro 6.1 inch iPhone 12 Pro Max 6.7 inch Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I think we may have found a pattern here.
Your videos are definetly the most well done, it can be really seen that you put a great amount of time and effort to them. The 'review' and telling all the specifications and functions are very informative, and just altogether very professional. I always enjoy watching your Apple product unboxings!
I’m here in June 2020 and prefer the 2015 11 inch MacBook Air over the 2020 13 inch MacBook Air or Pro. The screen was nice on the new air, but I really love the 11 inch size. I had the 2016 12 inch MacBook for sometime which is Apple’s best designed laptop in my opinion, but of course it was a step down on the internals. I use to rely on laptops as my main tv source and video editing but a 2015 11 inch MacBook Air is perfect for casual gaming, nothing hardcore and I can still enjoy having a laptop in the Apple eco system that’s not so large that I get worried about it sliding off my lap desk. My iPhone XS Max is all the retina I need. I say all this to say that size does matter when it comes to casual needs. By the way the 2016 12 inch MacBook is still online for nearly $1,000 in 2020. And the 2020 laptops overheat even more and the anti reflective coating can easily smudge. Just sayin’
I don't understand the naming of the new MacBook at all. It's thinner and lighter than the Air, but it's not an Air.... (the 12" Retina MacBook that comes in three colors)
Yeah, it also seems like the MBA is being squeezed from both ends now with the MBP getting thinner and cheaper, although I don't think it's going away anytime soon. I think much depends on how the MacBook does, we may have seen the last update to the MBA.
Theyre possibly gonna go thinner if they make another Air and the new one is just a refresh to a very old Macbook(plastic ones that are black and white) the new Macbook also seems like a Chromebook since you cant really do Ps and stuff on it. MKBHD said with its specs its better for browsing and could be good for a student. I just hope if you cant go thinner with Macbook Pro's for now that they just give you similar color options
friður We may be surprised by the performance of the new MacBook, even with video editing. But it's hard to recommend the MacBook as a primary computer to get real work done. It's a costly but fashionable computer that excites people and there is nothing wrong with that I think.
friður The MacBook line has always been kind of weird. Apple did make one aluminum MacBook, then the following year decided to call it the 13" MacBook Pro and killed the MacBook line, only to bring it back the following year in plastic again. Then they killed it again. And now it looks like it's back again, aluminum and comes in three colors. And whichever model you get, add $80 to it for the ability to use USB and still charge the device at the same time, or $20 for the ability to use USB but not be able to charge the device at the same time.
Here is the amazon link for this computer: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015WXL0C6/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B015WXL0C6&linkCode=as2&tag=abri077-20&linkId=5e9402a802c9acb7b7492f9105f555ca
Thanks for The review, I am actually planning to buy one soon! I may the 13 inch because the 11.6 inch is small. And, I really like the fact the 13 inch has a SD card slot that really be handy!
I was thinking of getting a 11 inch one as a bed side laptop, since MacBook Pro always stays at my desk, and sometimes when I wake up I just don't wanna go to my desk to start working/edit
Picked it up at Best BUY and saved $200.00!! Sale price was $100.00 off...then I told them I was a student. They always give me 100.00 off when I tell them that :-) so, I also charged it with my Best Buy card for 30 days...you get 5% back for that, so total savings $260! :)
I still have mine that I bought back in 2012 using the extra money from student loans. Still runs like the day I bought it. 1100+ charge cycles already so obviously the battery life isn’t as great but is still pretty decent. The thing I hate about MacBooks (or apple products in general) is the price. They’re great machines and imo better than windows computers, but not for the price.
'The updated 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display also features fifth generation Intel Core processors up to 3.1 GHz, with Turbo Boost Speeds up to 3.4 GHz, faster integrated Intel Iris Graphics 6100, and flash storage that is up to two times faster, with throughput up to 1.6GBps.' That's from Apple's press release. They updated the flash storage on the 13-inch model, which explains why you were seeing higher speeds over the 11-inch model.
Back when apple had good I/O. If they had just upgraded the internal components, display and thunderbolt 2 to thunderbolt 3 ports keeping the same design, this would be unbeatable even in 2019.
The term "resolution" actually refers the image's ability to resolve detail per inch - the correct term is "pixel dimension" when measuring the dimension of the image in pixels. This is something our web & print design lecturer at university used to go apeshit about how everyone gets this wrong. So actually, technically speaking, the higher DPI display is the higher resolution display - although the pixel dimension is lower.
@@artistbervucci1716 honestly very smooth, smoother than expected, apps sometimes hiccup but that's an app's internal issue because the rest of the system works fine. although some weird things that have happened is that the dock and menu bar become irresponsive, but it's only happened to me 2 times since I bought it (last week) but nothing that a good old reset can't fix. I like to do animation with ive2d and I'm amazed by how smooth the rigging proces is in this machine, much better than the system I used before
I know this is sucha difficult question to answer but how do you do to have enough money to buy every single macbook out there.....its incredible the "effort" you put on your channel...and thats how we follow you.... excellent reviews Mike... thanks from Corrientes, Argentina
+Kermit are you dumb? Chromebook's are absolute shit. They can barely do anything, limited to such an extent that you feel like you're in a prison. You're practically forced to use Google this and Google that. They are an extremely cheap alternative if you want just a computer for RU-vid and typing but it most certainly cannot handle ANY CPU intense games or applications.
im a kid and i am saving up for a macbook air. i have a ipad mini and i like how the size of the screen is smaller. but i dont know if i want to get the 11" because of the size, or the 13" because of the speed. help plz?
+Samlh10 I suggest 13 if it's your only or main computer. 4/3 battery life than 11 so you can carry it without charger for whole day, and larger screen means more readable. For me, the size and weight aren't that much difference, you'd better go to apple store to have a look.
So, I got the MacBook Air 13'' a couple of months ago, and the screen is kinda disappointing at first, especially if you got used to great quality phablet's resolution. Not bad, but not retina like Pro 13'' which I'm thinking of getting. Everything else is amazing, though - the battery life (the actual reason why the screen is the way it is), lightweight, speed. The size is perfect, I wouldn't go for a smaller version, or the 12'' one either. In conclusion, the MacBook Air currently being the best ultrabook out there, is only retina away from perfection, and I hope that's gonna get fixed soon!
yep just buy a windows pc. save money on the laptop and music production software too seeing as Logic Pro X will run you $200 lmao. besides, fl studio and pro tools are great alternatives for beat making.
