@@iffahalimahhasna7342 I truly believed the new wave of windows 7/8 PCs were going to last way longer. Honestly only the laptops you spend over $650/700 will last you over 4 or 5 years. Wish sales reps would just be upfront about that.

@@CS-pg4go yes! The price held me back because that original Lenovo was probably around $500 and a 13 inch air was over a grand.

Same Iv had three laptops in the 4 years Iv been in college. I just got into grad school and decided to buy the MacBook Air M1 basic model. After seeing all the reviews are from people who their last laptop was from either 2012, 2013, and some 2015 and up. I was like what the heck lol. Super excited.

@@lukeszns but i saw some people get around 7000 and a bit more and some people like maxtech got 6700 , some also got 6600 so do these scores really make sense ? one person on macrumors said he got a defective that scored 6600 and new scores 7200 or maybe a bit less which i think is totally a stupid reason to exchange your machine . what do you think ? and do these really matter? (10 min render scores)

@@lukeszns i didn't really get what do you mean by margin of error ? i am really getting tensed because i got 6675 in 10 min render and some got 7200 and lesser at the same time but when talking about single image render i got 7461 . when doing 10 min thing it is beyond or at 7000 till 7.5 -8min and in the last 2 min it drops. PS 7 core macbook air some people say because of cpu binning some got a slightly better cpu some got a normal one . Please assure me if everything is correct and if you got the same scores you would be totally fine with it because i think i am totally overthinking this, that macrumors guy made me anxious. These things doesn't make a machine defective right? and please tell me what did you mean by margin of error. btw can i ask you little things sometimes (very rarely)??

you can probably do that on even a 500 dollar laptop so id say go for the 8 gb if u still havent gotten one

You can get it for free if you have the ipad version. It syncs all your notes and let‘s you edit & add new notes

depends on what you will do, but generally speaking, 8gb is more than enough for everyday use

Given that with an iPad Pro you will be doing much more productive work, I would recommend atleast 256gb

Get Final Cut Pro once you get it. I got the 16GB version and I’ve had no problems. -fellow M1 user

You see, the amount of ram doesn’t effect the general performance. It’s ram speeds that does. All the amount of ram contributes to is the performance with how many programs you have running at the same time. For example, performance is going to be identical between 8gb and 16 when running google chrome and a few folders open. But 16gb will outperform 8 if you have lightroom, 15 google chrome tabs, and a video render on FCP all active, at the same time.

No you need a Windows laptop. Sorry but the majority of work done in the world runs on Windows. The apps are made for Windows and the hardware.

Macbook, the software for the ipad has come a long way but it is still no match for the sheer app support for macos so any smart or "pro" user would pick the macbook air

Apple has Pages installed for free, but the Office Suite works great with MacBooks as well if you want to dish out the money.

Just download Microsoft Office Word

Pages is free, but not super good. Microsoft Office requires a subscription to make it totally useful, but I don't like Word personally. I use Google Docs for a lot of my writing

@@HarrisCraycraft Yeah. I ended up using Google Docs, its where i normally do a lot of my work anyway.. For some reason i just thought apple would have more to offer. I did try working with pages but i wasnt really liking it lol just thought id ask. Thank you guys!! :] P.s Im still learning how to fully understand Mac. any suggestions videos or apps i should download?

Use your desire to have these things as a way to motivate yourself to acquire skills and knowledge for your future. You got this! Youre not far from being able to get these things for yourself. Dont be like me and take way too long to start working. You dont have to figure out what you want to do for life right away, that pressure is insane, but at least work towards something save some money for your future and some for things you want. Also, the most important thing is don't be rendered insecure if you dont have some type of material thing. People who are worthy of your time don't give a damn about things like that.
